While plunging into the archives of OSWtv on Facebook I found this review of SWE Uprising from November 2013. Here it is.

LJT def. #Scumbag Ian Ambrose w/ Sammii Jayne by DQ after Sammii hit LJT with a calf kick

We only saw a little of what these guys can do together. Both were very crisp and the match flowed nicely. Ended when Sammii entered the ring and kicked LJT in front of the referee.

Former GM Alex Fowlis introduced Claymore and Johnny Lions as they were due to face off in a number 1 contender match. Christopher Saynt interrupted saying that he had a problem with Johnny Lions. Lions gave up his chance to become number 1 contender to teach some respect to Saynt. Saynt slapped Lions and Claymore dragged Saynt back to the ring.

“Tenacious” Johnny Lions def. Christopher Saynt by pinfall

You know you’ll get a great match with Johnny Lions and Christopher Saynt is proving himself as a great wrestler. Both worked hard to put on a back and forth contest. Great flowing match with Saynt looking like he’d get the upset win but the veteran proved why he has won championships all over Scotland and picked up the victory.

Sammii Jayne w/ Ian Ambrose def. Debbie Sharpe by DQ after Debbie attacked Ian Ambrose

I was looking forward to this, Sammii is the original Siren and Debbie is the new kid on the block. Both know each other very well in the ring. Sammii has been more aggressive since aligning herself with Ian Ambrose. Ambrose tried to stick his nose in but Debbie quickly knocked him down with a forearm drawing another DQ finish.

Bravehart stepped in and made this a mixed tag team match.

LJT & Debbie Sharpe def. Match of the Year (Ambrose & Sammii) by pinfall

Lots of tandem offense. Funny spot with Ambrose tagging in Sammii and they exchanged waist locks till LJT and Debbie had a enough and dropkicked them into each other. Sammii hit a tremendous hurricurana off the apron to the floor. End sequence was a flurry of moves, these four worked well together and it was a fun filled match.

Chaz Phoenix def. Scotty Riccio by pinfall

Great big man-little man match. Chaz overpowered Scotty and ended the match with a brutal double arm piledriver which is always a sight to behold.

“The Gear of War” Kevin Williams def. Martyn Stallyon by submission

One of my matches of the night. Quick start with back and forth forearms and pushes till Stallyon caught his leg in the ropes and got tangled up. Williams broke down the leg, Stallyon tried to make a comeback but Williams kept working the leg to get the win with a figure four leg lock. Great flowing match, showed how calculating and dangerous Williams is and how much the crowd wanted Stallyon to get back into it. Brilliant.

Mr News jumped the rail and attacked Chaz Phoenix, who was on commentary for Williams vs Stallyon, with a Singapore cane. Called out Bravehart and said that he wanted his job back. Bravehart set up a tag team match at Seasons Beatings January 4th. The Syndicate vs Mr News and a partner of his choosing. Not Randy Valentine as he’s currently an inactive member of the roster. If Mr News wins he gets his job back.

Euan G Mackie was annoyed that he no longer had his SWE Heavyweight Championship match with Damian O’Connor and declared that he was fed up pandering to the fans. Sideshow Jam wasn’t happy that he was just a referee for the Future Division match and that he should be in the match instead.

“The Very Good” Mr Euan G Mackie w/ Sideshow Jam O’Malley & Mutt def. Jackie Polo & Gabriel Angelfyre by pinfall after Jam threw Angelfyre into the guard rail and Mackie hit Polo with Polo’s own mallet.

I was on my feet for most of this match, Jackie Polo is fantastic, Euan G Mackie is fantastic and Angelfyre is…well you guessed it FANTASTIC. Polo hit a picture perfect dropkick, all three put on an amazing show. Hopefully we’ll see more Polo in Dundee. I needed a cigarette after that match…and I don’t even smoke.

Damian O’Connor def. Claymore in the 9th round – 2 falls to 1 in a World of Sport match for the SWE Heavyweight Championship

Slow build match, very much a WRESTLING match. Trading holds and counters, both were fluid. Very mat based. The 3rd round saw them trade shoulder blocks. Claymore worked on Damo’s leg trying to disable the Bann River Boot. Damian picked up the win two falls to one and Marty Jones awarded him the Championship. Great showing from both. Very different.

Bravehart sent Jam O’Malley to the back and became the referee for the Future Division Championship match.

Viper def. “The Jackal” Jason Costello by pinfall to win the SWE Future Division Championship after Bravehart hit Costello with the championship while aiming to hit Viper

Viper was on the defensive for most of the match, Costello was very much in control but couldn’t keep her down for a three count. The Jackal then used the belt and told Bravehart to disqualify him. Bravehart refused and the match continued. Viper started her comeback, low blowed Costello and prepared to hit him with the championship as payback. Bravehart grabbed the belt, Viper dared Bravehart to hit her. As Bravehart swung the belt, Viper ducked and Costello took the full force of the belt to the face. Viper pinned Costello and, to the delight of the crowd, ended the year on a high. A lot of the children had gone home after the World of Sport match as it was getting late but even then the crowd were loud for this, the moment the three count was made there was a standing ovation for Viper.

Match(es) of the Night (3): Viper vs Costello, Williams vs Stallyon, Mackie vs Polo vs Angelfyre
