On previous Northern Tours, the Elgin show has either started or concluded the tour. Regardless, the Elgin show has always been a good one and over the last few years, has emanated from the Bishopmill Hall rather than the Town Hall. I made my W3L debut at the Elgin Town Hall on September 21st 2012, three days before my 24th birthday and a lot has changed since then, with a bearded, singlet-wearing 27 year old chap with a new ring jacket making his return to Elgin for a Saturday evening show.

Without trying to sound egocentric, it is almost as if Lucian Maynard Smith is evolving each year and the Elgin crowd see this at each show. 2012 was essentially a blueprint of what was to come, I was a referee in 2013, 2014 was a transitional year for me professionally and personally, 2015 was where it all clicked and 2016 has been the year where I have decided to chop and change things regarding my appearance, presentation and overall act so it does not stagnate.

On the same day as the Elgin show, we had an afternoon show in Wick, which was documented in part two of this blog and with it being a three hour drive from Wick to Elgin, we were cutting it fine for time. The significant amount of traffic in Nairn did not help matters and was frustrating to say the least, but we got there and got set up as efficiently as possible so the show could get started. Again, it was yours truly versus Nathan Reynolds kicking off the show and although I felt it was the better of the matches we had on the tour, it was another losing effort for me.

The Contingency Plan decided to enlist The Bulgarian Baker as their partner for the 6-Man tag main event versus Mike Musso, Nathan Reynolds and Aspen Faith and numerous sources made me aware that he decided to present a certain birthday boy with one of his prized loaves along with a signed baker’s hat, with that person being my OSWtv colleague Billy Strachan. A very benevolent gesture from Bozidar and as I observed the match from the gorilla position, I witnessed him hitting Mike Musso with a solid Heart Punch that Musso somehow survived, before the fan favourites turned things around and the end result being Bozidar getting turned inside out with an Aspen Faith Enziguri.

Once the show was all said and done, it was back to Inverness and to the accommodation. After eating very little after my breakfast of champions on the Saturday morning, I decided to go for a Chicken Kebab and it was nice to know that the most difficult and rushed part of the tour was all said and done. The Northern Tour was reaching its conclusion, with a Sunday afternoon show in Dingwall, as well as a long drive back to W3L HQ and journey home for me on the agenda for day three of the Northern Tour, and part four of this blog. Good day.
