Yes, that’s right. Adam’s Top 10 is back after a hiatus. In the first edition back, we have 10 of my favourite matches from WrestleZone.

– Adam Morrison

10. Crusher Craib vs Jack Jester (Aberdeen Anarchy 2014)

Number 10 is the main event of the 2014 Aberdeen Anarchy, Crusher Craib defending the Undisputed title against Jack Jester. The two behemoths had a huge clash in the Beach Ballroom as WrestleZone sold out the venue for the second year in a row. The Creator of Carnage vs The Hardcore Prince. It was Jack that eventually picked up the win and the title following a Tombstone, after distracting his opponent with ringside attendant Thea. A great way to end the second Aberdeen Anarchy with one of Glasgow’s top names stood tall in the Ballroom.

9. Crusher Craib vs Damien (Aberdeen Anarchy 2015)

Crusher Craib makes his second appearance on the list in another Aberdeen Anarchy matchup, this time from 2015. His opponent was Damien and the match was fought under Revolution Rules. Despite suffering a concussion in the match, it was Crusher that came out on top following a Big Boot. The match was one of my favourite hardcore matches in recent years, with my favourite spot being a Damien sunset flip powerbomb off the ropes and through some chairs. It’s not often you get weapon matches in the Granite City promotion, but when you do they sure do use a lot of weapons and insane spots.

8. Aspen Faith vs Lewis Girvan (Regal Rumble 2016)

Number 8 is from the 2016 Regal Rumble and sees Aspen Faith face off with Lewis Girvan, which won’t be the last time these two appear on this list. Aspen picked up the victory, albeit not cleanly, following his Faith Buster (one of my favourite moves) due to interference by Sammii Jayne. These two have had several great matches around Scotland, but Chris McDonald of WrestleZone management has stated their mixed tag match at this year’s Aberdeen Anarchy will be their last bout together in WrestleZone. Why Chris, why?

7. The Regal Rumble match (Regal Rumble 2015)

Number 7 on this list is the 2015 Regal Rumble match. In my opinion this was quite a good Rumble, that set the stage for a few Aberdeen Anarchy matches. We saw Aspen Faith, after being eliminated, attack Len Ironside before he could even enter the match. Damien was in the match at number 6 but was soon running for the hills as Crusher Craib, who was not an official entrant, chase him away after being screwed out of the Undisputed title earlier in the evening. We had the shock elimination of Jack Jester by none other than Bryan Tucker, which resulted in Tucker being driven skull first into the steel ring post. Then of course we saw the ending as Scotty Swift pulled the ropes down to knock Andy Wild to the outside before celebrating. His celebration was cut short however, as Damien came from backstage and almost eliminated Swift. Remember, he had not actually been eliminated. Scotty eventually knocked him out of the ring to secure the win and the title match, which he also won by defeating Joe Coffey.

6. Scotty Swift vs Crusher Craib (Aberdeen Anarchy 2016)

The main event from this year’s Aberdeen Anarchy is in at number 6, as it saw both of WrestleZone’s biggest names battle it out for the Undisputed title. Scotty Swift defended against Crusher Craib. Unfortunately for Crusher, he suffered a broken hip socket after missing a diving splash which led to Swift retaining, taking his undefeated streak at Anarchy to 4-0 and becoming the first man to retain a title at the show. Hopefully Crusher has a speedy recovery.

5. Johnny Lions vs Damien (Regal Rumble 2016)

Number 5 is another match from this year’s Regal Rumble, as former tag team champion partners Johnny Lions and Damien went to war. I think referee Mikey Innes threw count outs and disqualifications out of the window in this match, which made it that much better. The Tenacious One scored the pin but it was Damien that got the last laugh with 2 Superkicks after the match. The two have had several other matches, both one on one and tag team, since the show as they show they have a real hatred for one another.

4. Johnny Lions, Kaden Garrick & Mr P vs Sterling Oil (Aberdeen Anarchy 2016)

Number 4 is another from Aberdeen Anarchy 2016 and is the second Ladder match with huge ramifications in regards to this year’s Battle of the Nations. Johnny Lions teamed with the tag champions Kaden Garrick and Mr P to face the Sterling Oil trio of William Sterling, Alan Sterling and Damien. Again, this ladder match had several great spots, such as Mr P doing the helicopter swing with a ladder over his head and Johnny performing a Lion Cutter on Richard R. Russell. Alan eventually grabbed the contract for his team, earning title matches for all three this August. Let’s see how well they do.

3. The Hotshots vs The Thunder Buddies (Aberdeen Anarchy 2014)

WrestleZone’s first ever Ladder match is next on the list as the odd pairing of Blue Thunder and William Sterling defended their titles against Bryan Tucker and William’s current Sterling Oil comrade Shawn Johnson. There were so many great spots in this match, including a William Sterling powerbomb into a ladder and Shawn Johnson taking a huge leap off a ladder. The Hotshots were the ones to come out on top to win their third tag team title before all four men embraced in the centre of the ring.

2. Bingo Ballance vs Stevie Xavier (Aberdeen Anarchy 2013)

The first match of the first Beach Ballroom show is in next and saw Bingo Ballance face Stevie Xavier. The match had everything you’d expect from these two. Pinfall reversals galore, multiple high risk moves, it was just so hard to keep up with. Bingo managed to score the victory following the G-17 and both men shook hands afterwards to the delight of fans. Unfortunately the rematch at this year’s Ballroom show didn’t live up to the hype it could’ve. It was a great match, just not as good as this one.

1. Lord Mr Malice vs The Super Executioner (Live in Laurencekirk 2016)

What a technical masterpiece this was. Oh wait, wrong match.

1. Aspen Faith & Sammii Jayne vs Lewis Girvan & Debbie Sharpe (Christmas Chaos 2015)

If you haven’t seen this match, why not? This was a true definition of professional wrestling. Two of the best young athletes in the world paired with two of the greatest female wrestlers in the world (seriously, I call Sammii and Debbie the Scottish version of Trish and Lita). Despite suffering a broken finger, Lewis got the submission victory for his team. Every time these four enter the ring, you know you’re in for a real treat. The future is only bright for Lewis, Aspen, Sammii and Debbie.

And there we have it. The return edition of Adam’s Top 10 is done. Next week will be my top 10 favourite finishers from around Scotland.

On a side note, Wrestler Spotlight will now only be on Wednesday and Friday due to the return of this.
