Following the announcement from WrestleZone Management Representative Chris MacDonald, the brackets for the WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship tournament have been revealed pitting WrestleZone stars against each other to become the inagural Tri-Counties Champion. Brackets below:
So who are the favourites? In this article I’ll take a look at who I think are the top five contenders to become the first Tri-Counties Champion in WrestleZone history.
5. Jason Reed
A newbie in WrestleZone and wrestling in general as he’s only in his first year but that doesn’t mean he isn’t confident in his abilities. A very tough opening round match with former Undisputed WrestleZone Champion Damien will be the biggest test of his young career in WrestleZone. Very much an outsider to win but has an advantage, though he may be inexperienced it makes him harder for his opponents to scout. Could it be “Jason Reed and Chill Champ”?
4. Shawn Johnson
Multi-time tag team champion Shawn Johnson is beginning to hit his stride since joining Sterling Oil just under a year ago. His quest for singles gold has been thwarted either by the Undisputed WrestleZone Champion Scotty Swift or his former tag team partner Bryan Tucker. He goes up against a man that just missed my Top 5 in Mr P. Their match takes place on October 29th at Halloween Hijinks. A dark horse perhaps in this tournament.
3. Andy Wild
Andy Wild is currently going through a resurgence and picking up several aggressive wins in WrestleZone lately. A change in attitude has brought success already with a win in the Battle of the Nations match this year against Johnny Lions. With Andy Wild gaining momentum, the more wins he gains the more dangerous he becomes.
2. Zach Dynamite
After a long hiatus Zach Dynamite returned at Battle of the Nations to make quick work of Lord Mr Malice. He returned revived, looking in great shape and, from what was seen, better than ever. Could be the crowning of a successful return to be the first man to lift the newly created championship.
1. Aspen Faith
The finger snapping, arm trapping, knee capping, opponent tapping, King of Catch has already staked his claim on the Tri-Counties Championship and will be opening the tournament on October 15th against Blue Thunder. Faith will be going into this tournament with a point to prove. He calls himself “The King of Catch”, a moniker that isn’t just a catchy slogan, he has all the tools to win and now he has a chance to tear through the competition on his way to becoming Tri-Counties Champion. He’s my favourite to win it all but it’s all to play for.
Qualifier Dates Announced:
15/10 – Kincorth Community Centre – Aspen Faith vs Blue Thunder
29/10 – Inverurie Town Hall – Mr P vs Shawn Johnson
