After being out of office the previous weekend, I laced up the boots for Reckless Intent and W3L last weekend, with Reckless Intent returning to the Twechar Healthy Living Centre in Twechar, East Dunbartonshire last Saturday and W3L being a part of the annual Abbeyview Festival at Abbeyview Park in Dunfermline on the Sunday.
My opponent for Reckless Intent was Jackie Grady, one third of The Headbanders and this would be a first-time encounter. Grady was looking to obtain ‘justice’ for me injuring his leg at the June Reckless Intent show in Livingston, whilst I did not appreciate being planted on my face with a Belinda Buster by his fellow Headbanders Rob Mills and Ayesha Raymond. On a bill with plenty of grudge matches, this was a grudge match in itself.
I decided to stick to my guns and worked on injuring Grady’s leg, kicking his leg out of his leg and picking up my first singles win for Reckless Intent with a Reverse Cloverleaf submission hold. Unfortunately, David Devlin was not successful in reclaiming the Slam Championship and his lordship, The Lord of the Manor Paul Tracey did not win the Heavyweight Championship, but I was happy to pick up a win of my own.
The next Reckless Intent show will be taking place on Saturday 9th September at the Murieston Scout Hall in Livingston. This show will be featuring Grado. I would take great pleasure in beating up another headband-wearing schmuck, but expect there to be more announcements taking place over the next few weeks. Tickets for this show can be found and purchased at www.reckless-intent.com.
The following day would see me return to the W3L gala day scene, with me taking the mysterious W3L Action Academy graduate known only as THE TORMENTOR under my wing. Even I do not know the true identity of this man, with his tattoo of a Welsh dragon possibly signalling a Welsh heritage, even though some festival attendees speculated that he could be from Spain. I got a strong feeling that he wanted to show people what kind of person he is. I had THE TORMENTOR at ringside as I went one-on-one with a man familiar to SWE fans in Zack Leon, who was making his W3L debut.
I found my match with ‘The Man of Glam’ to be a solid match and one of my best this year. THE TORMENTOR managed to provide me with some assistance and I was victorious after planting Leon with The Eclipse. I decided that we were not finished with Zack Leon, pulling him back up so THE TORMENTOR could nail him with a Fist of Fury. Kevin Williams ran to the ring to assist Leon and baited us into accepting their challenge of a tag team match. THE TORMENTOR did not take too kindly to being called a ‘chicken’, so to put him at ease, I reluctantly accepted their challenge.
The tag team match did not start off well for us. THE TORMENTOR was walloped with an array of double team moves and it looked like Zack Leon was going to pick up an early win with a Headlock Driver. Mercifully, THE TORMENTOR was able to force Leon towards the ropes and some clever tactics helped us gain an advantage. After we exacted our dominance over Leon, he was able to wallop me with an Enziguri and tag in Williams, who cleared house and was able to temporarily take THE TORMENTOR out of the equation with a Sega MegaDriver. As Leon set up for a Headlock Driver on me, I was able to counter it and THE TORMENTOR was able to recover and nail Williams with a Fist of Fury. This allowed me to set up Leon for a move that I had recently researched from his lordship Paul Tracey, the Full Nelson Snapmare Driver. Much to my chagrin, Leon was able to counter this and nail me with his Headlock Driver for the win.
I was impressed with the performance of Zack Leon in both matches and THE TORMENTOR did well for himself also. Kevin Williams and I have battled many times and he was on form also. W3L’s gala day season is coming to a close now, but the live events are propping up once again, with W3L being in Stirling on Friday 1st September, Linlithgow on Saturday 2nd September and Buckhaven on Sunday 3rd September. W3L will also be returning to the Southside Community Centre in Edinburgh on Saturday 16th September, where British wrestling veteran and WWE Performance Centre guest and coach Johnny Moss will be competing for the W3L Championship. Until then, that is the life of Smith. Good day.
