February 11th 2017 marked the start of a new era for WrestleZone. From the Montrose Town Hall, a star was born. Live in Montrose 2017 was the beginning of The Vintage Era. The biggest question on every WrestleZone fan’s mind is, “Should I follow The North Star”? Yes. Yes you should.
After heading on to Facebook to see a six man tag team match had been signed for the show, pitting the team of Bryan Tucker, Zach Dynamite and the also debuting Bradley Evans against the team of Damien, Kaden Garrick and Marcus North, I was looking forward to seeing what the two new guys had to offer. My first glimpse of both came at The Regal Rumble on March 18th. Bradley and Marcus were both entrants in this year’s Regal Rumble Match with a huge opportunity up for grabs just one month after their debut. When Marcus stepped through the curtain shouting “Vintage”, I could tell straight away that he certainly was vintage.
After rechristening himself as Nathan North, The Vintage One impressed even more when I got the chance to see him in singles action at the Inverurie Town Hall on April 29th as he took on Bradley Evans in a WrestleZone Training Academy Showcase Match. Despite not picking up the victory that night thanks to Evans’ beautiful full nelson slam, I could tell that Nathan North would be destined for greatness in the years to come.
Heading into Aberdeen Anarchy, Nathan and Bradley were given another huge opportunity as they were signed to wrestle on the pre-show alongside Lord Mr Malice and Blue Thunder respectively. Again, despite coming out unsuccessful thanks to another Bradley’s fantastic moves, this time the TKO, I was once again impressed with how fast Nathan was growing as a wrestler. I imagine it was this night where Nathan set his sights on having Jeeves Winchester as a manager. More on that later.

Clearly, I wasn’t the only one being impressed with Nathan. WrestleZone management gave North the chance to win the Tag Team Championships in Ellon on July 1st as he and Andy Wild challenged The Rejected. Coming away without the gold around their waists, I knew this wouldn’t be the last time we saw Nathan challenging for championship gold. After a loss to Zach Dynamite at Proving Grounds later that month, Nathan picked up the biggest victory of his career to date (he’d previously beaten the likes of Scotty Swift, just he wasn’t the one to get the pin) when he pinned Blue Thunder’s shoulders to the mat albeit with a hold of the ropes.

More pre-show goodness for Nathan North now, as he faced one of the most decorated men in WrestleZone history Bryan Tucker on the Battle of the Nations pre-show. Before his match however, North introduced Jeeves Winchester as his new manager. With Lord Mr Malice having seemingly left WrestleZone, it leaves Jeeves open for bookings as a butler. Once again however, Nathan came out unsuccessful but he put in a fantastic showing nonetheless. Later that night, Nathan interfered in the annual Battle of the Nations Match between Scotland’s Mr P and England’s Andy Wild. The most vintage man in wrestling turned his back on the UK here as he tossed whisky in the face of Mr P to allow Wild to go 2-1 in Battle of the Nations Matches.

Most recently, Nathan North defeated one of WrestleZone’s most beloved wrestlers Zach Dynamite at the Brechin City Hall before distracting Mr P in his Tri-Counties Championship match with defending champion Aspen Faith, ultimately causing the 10 minute time limit to expire to cost Mr P another big match. Nathan’s next match will be at the Balmedie Leisure Centre on Saturday October 7th as he once again takes on Blue Thunder.
So, will you follow The North Star? If not, why not? You’re the one that’s missing out. Without The North Star, you will never be vintage.
