With the announcement that WrestleZone will be hosting Aberdeen Anarchy, their 10 year anniversary supershow, on Saturday September 1st 2018 from the Beach Ballroom, what big names could they possibly get in for the monumental night? Usually they get former WWE stars for the event, but how about some guys lighting up the independent scene? I’m going to take a look at 5 of each who I’d like to see come to The Granite City next year!

Former WWE Superstars
1. Cody Rhodes
The current ROH World Champion is top of the list. Since being released last year, Cody Rhodes has been on my list of stars to make an appearance in the Beach Ballroom. The American Nightmare has been tearing it up since leaving WWE, winning gold all over the world. He’s perhaps the best example of a star finding more success after leaving Vince and co.
2. John Morrison
John Morrison/Johnny Mundo/Johnny Impact has found success primarily in Mexico since leaving WWE in 2011, specifically with AAA, where he is the current Mega Champion, and their American partner Lucha Underground, being a former Lucha Underground Champion. Fair enough, his recent stuff with TNA/GFW hasn’t been the greatest but elsewhere has been good to him. The Mayor of Slamtown would certainly attract plenty of fans to the Beach Ballroom.
3. Jack Swagger
Newly signed Bellator MMA fighter “The Real American” Jack Swagger left WWE in March of this year, so it was too late for this year’s Aberdeen Anarchy. I’d love to see him appear next year however, possibly against another big powerhouse like Crusher Craib or Andy Wild. I don’t believe Swagger got his fair chance in WWE. Despite being a former World Heavyweight Champion, he never gained the recognition he deserved, especially in his later days.
4. Emma
After being released just a few weeks ago, the Australian sensation Emma is most certainly quite high up on being signed for shows all over the world. Aberdeen Anarchy would be a perfect place to see her in action. Put her in there with the likes of Sammii Jayne and you have an Aberdeen Anarchy worthy match right in front of you.
5. Stu Bennett
Last for this section is Stu Bennett, formerly known as Wade/Bad News Barrett. The hard-hitting Englishman had a fairly decent run in WWE, being a former five-time Intercontinental Champion, winner of the 2015 King of the Ring and season one of NXT. Having not wrestled since leaving WWE in May 2016, Bennett could be used as a commissioner-type figure on the night. With Chris McDonald usually providing commentary duties on the evening, he’ll need someone to step in and handle the business at the Beach Ballroom.
Independents
1. The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson))
Why have one when you can have three? Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks have been lighting the world on fire since coming together as part of the ever popular Bullet Club. Winning titles left, right and centre, The Elite have already had a fantastic UK tour in the past for the likes of Discovery Wrestling and Fight Club: PRO. If they were to have a six man tag team match at Anarchy, imagine them against the likes of Shawn Johnson and The Sterling Brothers. All the yes for that one!
2. Marty Scurll
Speaking of Bullet Club, “The Villain” Marty Scurll is also a man making his name known around the world. Holding titles such as the ROH World Television Championship and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, Scurll is not one to back down from the limelight. Could you imagine him against Aspen Faith? Every finger would be getting snapped if those two went at it!
3. Will Ospreay
Will Ospreay is a man that can do things that amaze me every time. Being able to twist his body the way he does to entertain the fans has gained him a lot of recognition all over the world, being endorsed by iconic names such as Paul Heyman. The Aerial Assassin has been on fire recently, with exceptional matches against the likes of Rey Mysterio and Mike Bailey. Seeing Ospreay inside the Beach Ballroom would be a sight to behold.
4. David Starr
The man with all the nicknames is another fantastic wrestler I’d love to see at Aberdeen Anarchy X. David Starr can make a man say ‘I Quit’ by putting them in a simple chinlock. Don’t get many people doing that. With an upcoming Scottish appearance for Discovery Wrestling, I’m sure Chris McDonald could get The King of Taunts to come up north and put the cream in our coffee (which sounds way worse than it should).
5. Trevor Lee
Finally, we have a name that might be familiar to TNA/GFW/Impact fans in the form of their current X Division Champion, Trevor Lee. The Carolina Caveman caught my eye back in 2015 and has such a varied in-ring style. He can through stiff strikes, drive you to the mat with brute force and fly through the air. Another man with a similar style is current Undisputed Champion Damien. Talk about a main event match. The Technical Savage vs The Revolutionary.
So, those are the names I’d like to see make their way to the Beach Ballroom on September 1st. Who do you want to see at Aberdeen Anarchy X?
