new10

It’s almost 2018 and after a wild 2017 it’s time to check out who I think will be coming up and making an impact into 2018. Quite possibly the most difficult Top 10 so far.

10. DCT

‘The International Sex Hero’ DCT has had a year of evolution, branching out and continuing his dominance in Reckless Intent Wrestling while continuing his regular appearances in ICW with a lengthy feud with Davey Blaze along with an SWA Junior Heavyweight Championship win. Winning The Reckless Rumble earns him a match in the new year for the RI Heavyweight Championship that DCT has been working towards in recent months with several near misses. 2018 will see that momentum building.

9. Luke Aldridge

2017 saw the evolution of Lucian Maynard Smith to Luke Aldridge. Going from snobby nobleman to this dark gritty reboot. Turns in UPW and Reckless Intent Wrestling has built the character more while regularly appearing in W3L. 2018 should see the continuation of that with a ton of potential to explore the dark mindset.

8. Jayla Dark

Another that has evolved in the last 12 months from Bete Noire to Jayla Dark, showing a darker side (pardon the pun) and a renewed vigor has seen her unleash batterings on anyone in her path. She will certainly be a force in 2018 around the country.

7. Ravie Davie

The Fresh Prince Of Drumoyne Square has fairly been making a name for himself this year, his charisma has made him very popular. A vile beating from Bram only made him even more loved and he had his moment at Fear & Loathing as he came flying off a ladder through a table thanks to Bram and Martina. A lovable underdog for sure but his in ring abilities aren’t to be dismissed he also has an impressive moveset that has been honed in the Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum.

6. Michael Chase

Chase obtained a WWE tryout this year and my thoughts were that though he is really solid in the ring but needed that edge in character to really let people see Michael Chase. I think this has been struck with his recent snapping over at Discovery Wrestling and is the perfect place to begin testing the waters in 2018.

5. Kieran Kelly

The Underdog in Source Wrestling School has had a really great year with his matches against Polo Promotions alongside Scott McManus and his match against Tyler Bate which was full of positive reviews. Kelly has been popping up at GPWA, BCW and PBW this year along with his home grounds at SWA and Source. Bags of talent, certainly worth looking out for.

4. 4D

I’ve only seen, the then, Dean Ford in action twice and that was at W3L in Elgin in July where he cracked his head open in his first match and wrestled the second all bandaged up. The brief showing he had was full of potential to be someone very special. Recently making his Rock N Wrestle debut, I can see 4D making his way around Scotland very soon against a wild array of opponents. A champion kickboxer, 4D has this quick roundhouse kick very akin to Aliester Black’s Black Mass, really is one to watch.

3. Theo Doros

The Superior Cypriot made his debut in ICW this year along with showings in the debuting UPW promotion. Doros looks like every bit of a wrestler and can see him being highly sought after in the near future, very much reminds me of a Liam Thomson, small in stature but packs a powerful punch.

2. Aaron Echo

The 2017 Asylum Invitational winner has been preaching from The Echo Bible as he continues to rise up the ranks. Winning the Calling Spots Championship recently for his first title win and some impressive wins recently against Rampage Brown, Primate and Kid Fite shows that Echo is going to be one to be reckoned with in 2018.

1. Krieger

This year has seen the big Scudmaster foraging away as part of The Fite Network with Kid Fite and Lou King Sharp. He made the quarter finals of the Asylum Invitational and has debuted in WrestleZone, GPWA, W3L, Source and Discovery Wrestling in Scotland along with ventures into England. Charismatic with a great combination of power and speed makes for a wrestler that has all the tools to have a very good 2018.

Notable mentions include Scotty Swift, Shawn Johnson, The Sam Barbour Experience plus many more. Anyone missed? Let us know who your One To Watch for 2018 is!
