We’re celebrating 10 years of WrestleZone in the Granite City this year. We will have plenty of articles to celebrate this milestone as we make our way to The Beach Ballroom once again for a night of Anarchy on September 1st.

We’ll ease into the WrestleZone festivities by listing the top 10 most decorated wrestlers in WrestleZone history.

The Rejected (Chris Archer & Mikkey Vago) – 3

3x Tag Team Champions

Kicking off this top 10 list is a Tag Team. WrestleZone’s resident ‘hairy bikers’ The Rejected. Archer and Vago have been teaming for a number of years now and their feud with Mr P & Kaden Garrick along with their war with Sterling Oil saw the duo pick up the WrestleZone Tag Team Championships three times. Making them the third most successful team in WrestleZone history behind Sterling Oil and The Granite City Hotshots. Archer has been around WrestleZone for a while in various tag teams with Brian Starr as The Outcasts and Revolution with Damien and Johnny Lions before settling in as The Dogs of War with WrestleZone Academy graduate Mikkey Vago, later renamed The Rejected.

Johnny Lions – 3

1x Tag Team Champion with Damien
2x Undisputed WrestleZone Champion

Johnny Lions is the veteran, being around WrestleZone since the early days. His second Undisputed WrestleZone Championship reign ended in the main event of the first Aberdeen Anarchy taking place in The Beach Ballroom. Over 1000 people watched Crusher dethrone the then-crown jewel in Sterling Oil. Lions rejoined with Damien to form Revolution, with Chris Archer passing through the faction. They captured the Tag Team Championships from The Granite City Hotshots before losing the belts back to the team two months later.

Aspen Faith – 3

1x Tag Team Champion with James Midas
2x Tri-Counties Champion

‘The King of Catch’ started as ‘The Hippie Horror’, replacing Benjamin Steele to team with James Midas at the first Aberdeen Anarchy in The Beach Ballroom. The team gained some traction, adding KT Kane and forming Team S.M.A.S.H (Superior Moves and Submission Holds), they gained gold quickly by defeating The Granite City Hotshots before losing to the super-team of Scotty Swift and Jay Lethal.

After a gold drought, Aspen Faith once again had his hands on gold when he won a four way ladder match to become the first WrestleZone Tri-Counties Champion, losing the title briefly before regaining it from Zach Dynamite. The longest reigning Tri-Counties Champion and only two-time holder only recently losing it to Andy Wild.

Damien – 5

1x Tag Team Champion with Mikey Morris
1x Tag Team Champion with Johnny Lions
1x Heavyweight Champion
2x Undisputed WrestleZone Champion

‘The Revolutionary’ Damien is a former Heavyweight Champion in WrestleZone, merging the title by defeating then-No Limits Champion Scotty Swift to become the first Undisputed WrestleZone Champion. He teamed with Johnny Lions to win the Tag Team Championships for a couple months before starting a crusade towards the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship once Sterling Oil reformed. After months of attempts failing, he left Sterling Oil emphatically before beating Shawn Johnson to win the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship once again. It was short lived thanks to Richard R Russell.

Alan Sterling – 5

5x Tag Team Champion with William Sterling

‘Adorable’ Alan Sterling makes the list with five Tag Team Championship wins with his brother William. The most successful tag team in WrestleZone history, the first WrestleZone Tag Team Champions. They’ve beat teams like The Granite City Hotshots, Los Cystos and The Rejected on the way to racking up five title wins. Sterling hasn’t had singles success in WrestleZone, even as his other monikers Lord Alan Sterling and Mixed Martial Alan.

Crusher Craib – 5

2x Undisputed WrestleZone Champion
3x Regal Rumble Winner

‘The Creator Of Carnage’ Crusher Craib makes the list with a record breaking three Regal Rumble wins. His second Rumble win saw him defeat Johnny Lions at Aberdeen Anarchy to win his first Undisputed WrestleZone Championship. The following year he would lose the belt to Jack Jester the next year before gaining it back months later before losing it to Joe Coffey.

His third Regal Rumble win saw him main event Aberdeen Anarchy once again but he couldn’t take the belt off Scotty Swift, mainly due to an injury occurring during the match.

William Sterling – 6

5x Tag Team Champion with Alan Sterling
1x Tag Team Champion with Blue Thunder

Alan’s brother ‘Wonderful’ William Sterling sneaks ahead of him with one more Tag Team Championship win with Blue Thunder as Thunder Buddies, making him the most successful tag team wrestler in WrestleZone, an odd couple tag team that went onto win the WrestleZone Tag Team Championship Tournament following the belts being vacated after Scotty Swift and Jay Lethal could not defend the titles.

Scotty Swift – 6

1x Tag Team Champion with Jay Lethal
1x No Limits Champion
1x Heavyweight Champion
2x Undisputed WrestleZone Champion
1x Regal Rumble Winner

Number three on this list is ‘The Red Haired Warrior’ Scotty Swift. One of the few wrestlers that can claim to holding four championships in WrestleZone plus a Regal Rumble win to his name. He’s a name closely associated with WrestleZone and the first Heavyweight Champion in the promotion. It took him seven years to climb back to the top of the mountain following his Regal Rumble win, he went to war with Andy Wild that saw the pair trade the belt. In-between that time Swift teamed up with former TNA X-Division Champion Jay Lethal to defeat Team S.M.A.S.H, however, as Jay Lethal couldn’t make it back to WrestleZone to defend the titles they were vacated.

Bryan Tucker – 6

4x Tag Team Champion with Shawn Johnson
1x Undisputed WrestleZone Champion
1x Regal Rumble Winner

The penultimate wrestler in this list is Bryan Tucker, he was known as the underdog of WrestleZone with his Regal Rumble win and then Undisputed WrestleZone Championship win by beating Damien causing a stir in WrestleZone clinging onto the title for two months before Johnny Lions defeated him. Bryan Tucker formed a successful tag team with Shawn Johnson, winning the titles four times, through wars with Sterling Oil and Thunder Buddies, the latter saw The Hotshots and Thunder Buddies compete in the first ladder match in WrestleZone history over the titles.

Shawn Johnson – 7

4x Tag Team Champion with Bryan Tucker
2x Undisputed WrestleZone Champion
1x Regal Rumble Winner

Top of the list is Shawn Johnson. One of the products of the WrestleZone Training Academy, Shawn was originally a Tag Team wrestler with Bryan Tucker as The Granite City Hotshots. The Hotshots waged war with the likes of Sterling Oil, Team S.M.A.S.H. and Thunder Buddies, winning the Tag Team Championships in WrestleZone four times. It all came to an end in late 2015 when Shawn Johnson turned on Tucker and joined Sterling Oil, marking the beginning of his quest to become Undisputed WrestleZone Champion. Soon afterwards Shawn won the Regal Rumble before main eventing in The Beach Ballroom, with some help from Sterling Oil, and winning the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship from Scotty Swift.

Soon his former Sterling Oil stablemate Damien was sick of playing second fiddle to the villainous Johnson, breaking away from the group and setting his sights on the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship himself. The pair traded the belt with Shawn once again coming out with the last laugh and a two time Undisputed WrestleZone Champion.
