During night 1 of this year’s WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, new UK division General Manager and British wrestling icon Johnny Saint revealed an NXT UK brand.
Eight dates have been announced for tapings as part of the new venture towards establishing WWE’s dominance over the United Kingdom. The dates are as follows;
- Saturday July 28th and Sunday July 29th at The Corn Exchange in Cambridge (tickets – www.livenation.co.uk)
- Saturday August 25th and Sunday August 26th at The NEC in Birmingham (tickets – www.insomniagamingfestival.com)
- Saturday October 13th and Sunday October 14th at The Plymouth Pavilions (tickets – www.livenation.co.uk)
- Saturday November 24th and Sunday November 25th at The Liverpool Olympia (tickets – www.livenation.co.uk)
The announcement also revealed two new championship titles, bringing WWE’s total to a staggering 16 active titles. Alongside the United Kingdom Championship will be the UK Women’s and Tag Team Championships.
This comes after a highly successful UK Championship Tournament at the start of last year, which saw the then-19 year old Tyler Bate upset Pete Dunne in the finals to become the inaugural champion. Since then, several of the UK’s top names have been signed to special UK contracts, including British Strong Style, Scotland’s Wolfgang and one of the easiest wrestlers to loathe Zack Gibson. This year’s tournament is currently ongoing and will stream on the WWE Network on Monday June 25th and Tuesday June 26th, while the first round matches can be found on WWE’s official YouTube page.
