On this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, Stephanie McMahon made a bombshell (and long overdue) announcement that WWE are set to host their first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view event. The show, entitled ‘Evolution’, will take place on Sunday October 28th from New York’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Over 50 women from the past, present, and future are scheduled to compete, with defences of the Raw, Smackdown Live, NXT, and NXT UK Women’s Championships, as well as the finals of this year’s Mae Young Classic.
Today however, I’m going to take a look at five matches involving Scottish talent that I think would be rather nice to see!

Sammii Jayne vs Charlotte Flair
This one writes itself. Queen vs Queen. Sammii Jayne is without a doubt one of the best females in the whole UK right now, winning championships everywhere she goes and competing on her first tour of Japan back in April. Although currently out injured with a broken ankle, Sammii is scheduled to return to action next month. Over on the WWE side of things, Charlotte Flair has been top of the pile ever since her arrival. Again, she is currently on the shelf but is scheduled to return around SummerSlam season. Is there anyone that wouldn’t want to see Sammii vs Charlotte?

Viper vs Ember Moon
Despite being under contract to World of Sport for the time being, Viper made it all the way to the quarterfinals of the inaugural Mae Young Classic so clearly she’s been on WWE’s radar. The Vixen of Violence is without a doubt one of the biggest names in independent wrestling today, even finding herself at the focus of a BBC documentary. A match against someone like Ember Moon would be a huge deal. Moon’s Eclipse finisher is a phenomenal sight to behold, perhaps one of the best finishers in all of wrestling today. Whenever Viper’s WOS contract comes to an end, it’s possible she’ll sign full-time to WWE so we can see this match come to fruition.

Kay Lee Ray vs Sasha Banks
Another of last year’s Mae Young Classic competitors and another current signee to World of Sport is Kay Lee Ray. The Queen of Hardcore can do it all when she enters the ring, be it hardcore, technical, high-flying. Although she was eliminated in the first round of the MYC, she certainly left an impression on the Full Sail crowd. While she’s classed as one of the top female competitors in the UK, Sasha Banks has long been one of the members of WWE’s Four Horsewomen clique. These two have pretty similar styles in the ring, and I imagine they’d have great chemistry.

Isla Dawn vs Asuka
Recently announced 2018 Mae Young Classic competitor Isla Dawn is the one person on this list officially signed to NXT UK, having appeared on an episode of Raw last year and also at this year’s United Kingdom Championship Tournament. I’ve seen a handful of her matches and it looks as if she uses a moveset of suplexes and submission holds, similar to that of women’s Royal Rumble winner Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow has become known for various kicks and submissions, which earned her plenty of victories during her over two years undefeated. If any interactions happen between the main roster women and the women signed to NXT/NXT UK, this is one that I’d have right up at the top.

Jayla Dark vs Candice LeRae
Jayla Dark has had a breakout year so far, winning her first taste of gold in the form of the Fierce Females Championship. Dark has developed this new darker persona (no pun intended) in the ring, which has led to more victories up and down Scotland. Meanwhile in NXT, Candice LeRae has found herself in the middle of the rivalry between Tommaso Ciampa and husband Johnny Gargano. This is possibly a match that people possibly wouldn’t think of, but I think they could do some great stuff together.
What matches between WWE and Scottish talent would you like to see?
