While we wait to meet the 16 wrestlers, let’s take a look at 10 possible entrants from Scotland.
Damien

Damien isn’t exactly the youngest person on this list, having honed his craft for 10 years. However, he’s never received the big break to get his name known around the UK. A return to Discovery Wrestling in their Disco Derby Match and a debut in Glasgow as a finalist in the Drew Galloway Invitational Tournament certainly got more attention for The Revolutionary but it can never hurt to try that little bit extra. Plus, there are several members of the IPW roster that I feel would be exceptional opponents for him. Kip Sabian and Chief Deputy Dunne immediately spring to mind.
Nathan North

I’m very high on Nathan North at the moment. He’s put on a great performance every time he’s stepped foot in the ring, proving that his ‘Vintage’ moniker isn’t just a fancy nickname. The North Star has developed a unique arsenal of moves since his arrival, including a pretty gnarly modified brainbuster-type move. He possesses the charisma that’s needed to thrive in a big promotion, so why should IPW management look past him?
Shawn Johnson

Current Undisputed WrestleZone Champion Shawn Johnson recently got himself in to the best shape of his career ahead of his Aberdeen Anarchy X main event. The Sterling Oil member, like his Anarchy opponent Damien, has been on the go for the past 10 years and has done all there is to do in WZ (minus the Tri-Counties Championship of course). He returned to Discovery Wrestling earlier this year, so perhaps it’s the right time for Johnson to head further throughout the UK and show everyone how good the north-east wrestling scene really is!
Craig Anthony

Craig Anthony had his first match in March of this year. He’s disgustingly young for someone that’s so good at wrestling, Already, he’s been entered in to the Drew Galloway Invitational Tournament and the Source Championship Tournament, and has challenged for the Scottish X Championship. He’s called The Natural for a reason, having picked up everything he’s earned just like that. Astonishing athlete.
Kieran Kelly

Kieran Kelly is currently on the biggest roll of his career. In a matter of months, he’s captured the Scottish X Championship (then the Scottish Junior Heavyweight Championship), made it to the semifinals of the Source Championship Tournament, and earned himself a full-time spot on ICW’s roster. He’s at the brink of breaking out of Scotland, and this tournament is the perfect opportunity he needs to get past that point.
Irving Garrett

Every time there’s a mention of Irving Garrett, it’s positive. He’s just got ‘it’. I’m a fan of submission-based wrestlers so this pick may be a bit biased but once you’ve seen what he can do, you’ll understand. Known to fans as The Bone Collector, Irving can twist opponents in to any position he desires. Give him a few years so he can learn more and more holds, and I’d say he’ll be the Zack Sabre Jr. of Scotland.
Jesse Santana

Jesse Santana is one of the more unique characters on the Scottish scene, using his flamboyancy to his advantage. A product of the PBW Academy, Santana has received high praise from those that saw him compete in the Drew Galloway Invitational Tournament, and rightfully so. A tremendous young athlete that can exceed expectations when given the chance to do so.
Zach Dynamite

After being away for two years due to injury, Zach Dynamite has had to work his way back up the food chain in Scottish wrestling. He’s had more luck since returning of course, debuting for Discovery Wrestling and winning the WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship. Fully Loaded has shown a more strike-based offence since his comeback, using a brutal flying knee strike to finish off the opposition. Nasty moves like that could assist in getting more chances once promoters see what he’s capable of.
Jason Reed

Jason Reed is currently on a mission to Make WrestleZone Great Again and while this is currently taking up a lot of his time as he puts his plans in to action, I’m sure he can squeeze an appearance for IPW in to his schedule. The cheeky Fifer has actually been around for a shorter time than I had originally thought, but he still remains one of the best wrestlers I’ve seen live. The guy has a hell of a dropkick. Perhaps it’s time to Make IPW: UK Great Again!
Jack Morris

My last pick is Jack Morris. During his early SWE days as a member of The gWo, I didn’t really hear too much about his work but he’s really burst on to the scene as of late. Being classed as one of Scottish wrestling’s brightest prospects, Morris has been proving his worth everywhere he goes. Already having competed in Germany as well as Scotland obviously, so how about getting him down to England? He’s already being classed as one to watch in Scotland, now it’s time to make him one to watch all around the UK!
IPW have revealed that they have over 600 applicants to go through, so keep your eyes on their social media sites as to which 16 will be chosen to compete!
But for now, who would you like to see enter the tournament, whether from Scotland or elsewhere?
