World of Sport are now half way through their 10-part series following Saturday night’s episode. The most recent instalment featured both semifinals in the Tag Team Championships Tournament as well as the first ever WOS Battle Royal and a Triple Threat Match (not a Handicap as I originally thought last week).
Just Uz (Stevie Boy & BT Gunn)
After their victory over CJ Banks and Brad Slayer, Stevie Boy and BT Gunn headed in to the semifinals of the Tag Team Championships Tournament as they faced off with the first team to advance forward, Alpha Bad. Despite coming in to the match all guns blazing with dives to the outside and all sorts of high impact moves, it wasn’t to as Sabian and Rees drove Stevie Boy in to the mat with a powerbomb/springboard neckbreaker combo to advance to the finals.
It’s a shame to see Just Uz not making it to the finals but when it’s Alpha Bad that are advancing, I have no real complaints. Big fan of The Alpha Male and Superbad. I learned yesterday that Stevie Boy will apparently be out for a year with a torn ACL and while these shows were taped in advance, it would be a disappointment not to have him there if WOS gets commissioned for more episodes.

Grado
The other semifinal saw Grado team with British Bulldog Jr. taking on Adam Maxted and Nathan Cruz, known collectively as The Bromance. The story of the match was Maxted and Cruz working on the leg of Grado, perhaps trying to eliminate the Wee Boot from his arsenal. Despite it looking like Bulldog had it won for his team, Nathan Cruz locked Grado in a figure four leglock for the submission victory to secure their spot in the finals.
What’s next for Grado in WOS? Now that he’s lost the Heavyweight Championship and been eliminated from contention for the Tag Team Championships, it’ll be a long journey for Grado to get back to the top of the pecking order. In other news, Alpha Bad vs The Bromance should be quite good!
Kay Lee Ray and Viper
The main event was a women’s Battle Royal as Kay Lee Ray put the Women’s Championship on the line against Viper, Bea Priestley, Ayesha Raymond, and the debuting Kasey Owens. KLR and Viper dominated the other three as it came down to this two. In the second defence, it would be The Queen of Hardcore that won to retain the championship as she overcame the reigning ICW Women’s Championship.
Unfortunately, the match wasn’t anything too special. There were some alright moments and the action was fine enough but nothing that will be remembered in the years to come. With Viper and Priestley both failing to take the title, will either Ayesha or Kasey step up to the plate?
This coming Saturday’s episode will see Joe Hendry battling Martin Kirby in a Submissions Match, Rampage defending his WOS Championship against British Bulldog Jr., and the finals of the Tag Team Championships Tournament as Alpha Bad take on The Bromance to crown the first Tag Team Champions in WOS history!
