Another month that seemed impossible to narrow down. It didn’t help when the month kicked off with one of Scottish wrestling’s biggest shows of the year. Throughout September, we had some excellent wrestling from every nook and cranny of the country. Glasgow to Edinburgh, Fife to Livingston, Aberdeen to Ayr. New champions were crowned and some unfortunately went down with injuries. Basically what I’m trying to say is September was a big month for Scottish wrestling this year. I’ll waste no more of your time and get in to it!

Honourable mentions go out to Anastasia, Andy Wild, Aspen Faith, BT Gunn, Chris Renfrew, Christopher Saynt, Craig Anthony, Irving Garrett, Jack Morris, Jason Reed, Kenny Williams, Kevin Williams, Kez Evans, Kieran Kelly, Lewis Girvan, Lionheart, Mark Coffey, Shawn Johnson, and Theo Doros.

september10lions

10. Johnny Lions

“Tenacious” Johnny Lions makes his debut on the list after he finally captured the W3L Heavyweight Championship from Mike Musso at the company’s Wrestlution XII event, after years of trying. Elsewhere in September, Lions was a member of Team WrestleZone alongside Bryan Tucker, Scotty Swift, and management representative Chris McDonald as they defeated Sterling Oil members Richard R. Russell, Crusher Craib, and The Sterling Brothers at Aberdeen Anarchy X, which as a result caused the devious group to be forced to disband. The day after winning the championship from Musso, The Tenacious One failed to become a three-time Undisputed WrestleZone Champion in Brechin as he lost to defending champion Damien in a match also involving Andy Wild.

september10jayne

9. Sammii Jayne

After a few months out of action due to a broken ankle, Sammii Jayne makes her return to the list. A weekend with Viper kicked off her month, losing to The Vixen of Violence at Aberdeen Anarchy X before defeating her to retain the Discovery Women’s Championship in Edinburgh the following day. Rounding off the month was a venture down to Pro Wrestling: EVE, besting Hana Kimura to cement her place in the upcoming SHE-1 tournament next month I believe it is. The Huntress returned to defending the Main Event Wrestling Women’s Championship at the 2018 Northern Bash, retaining over Little Miss Roxxy and the debuting Anastasia, although the match did actually end in a no contest. Finally, as part of EVE’s Strong Women Style double show day, she failed to regain the EVE Championship from Charlie Morgan in an Elimination Match also involving Rhia O’Reilly and Kasey, before defeating Mae Young Classic competitor Toni Storm later in the day.

september10dynamite

8. Zach Dynamite

Heading in to September, Zach Dynamite proclaimed himself to be the greatest (and soon to be two-time) Tri-Counties Champion, a moniker he made come true at the Beach Ballroom by defeating Mr P, Nathan North, and defending champ Andy Wild to regain the title he lost in January. He did of course have the help of his former ally Bradley Evans, with the pair now back on the same page. Fully Loaded made two defences of the gold to see off the month, being disqualified against Scotty Swift in Brechin but retaining due to the champion’s advantage, and then beating Blue Thunder by submission in Keith.

september10hendry

7. Joe Hendry

September wasn’t as prestigious as other months have been so far this year, but it was still relatively good for Joe Hendry. Alongside Grado, they defeated The Desi Hit Squad on an episode of Impact Wrestling while Joe also defeated Tyson Dux in singles action on an episode of Xplosion. Back in the UK but sticking with Impact Wrestling, The Prestigious One defeated Eli Drake in a terrific contest as part of the Impact vs the UK show. His final two matches were both successes as he defeated Aaron Echo at Pro Wrestling Elite’s show in Ayr, and then he defeated Grado at ICW Bravehearto.

september10viper

6. Viper

As mentioned earlier, Viper began the month trading victories with Sammii Jayne. The Megaton Barbie got the best of The Main Event Empress at WrestleZone Aberdeen Anarchy X, before unsuccessfully challenging Sammii for her Discovery Women’s Championship the next day. After defeating Sierra Loxton at Pro Wrestling EVE’s Maybe Wrestling Will Help event, Viper was off to the good ol’ US of A. She lost to Taya Valkyrie and also defeated current ROH star Tenille Dashwood at separate events for Bar Wrestling, but did manage to get the better of Taya at a show for F1RST Wrestling as she retained the ICW Women’s Championship, which in turn renamed the strap to the ICW Women’s World Champion. Rounding off her American tour was a loss to LuFisto for Beyond Wrestling. After defeating Kay Lee Ray at PWE in Ayr, the pair were victorious over Charlie Morgan and Laura Di Matteo at EVE’s Global Women Strike. Lastly as part of the EVE double header, Viper defeated her Queen’s Quest pal Bea Priestley and then defeated Chihiro Hashimoto on the second show.

september10thomson

5. Liam Thomson

Liam Thomson made his return to wrestling in July, and now makes his debut on this list. A big win over Irving Garrett to kick things off at Discovery Wrestling, cementing his spot in the semifinals of this year’s Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational Tournament. After a loss to Joe Coffey at PWE, The Bad Boy scored one of the biggest wins of his career as he bested Wolfgang in a Good Housekeeping Match to regain his sink. In his last match of the month, he lost to Grado in his return to Premier British Wrestling in Larbert.

september10hayden

4. Emily Hayden

The Best, The Beautiful, The Only debuts on the list as Emily Hayden had quite an impressive month that saw her win her taste of gold after defeating Jayla Dark for the vacant W3L Women’s Championship at Wrestlution XII. Hayden also took part in an Eat Sleep Suplex Retweet podcast for the first ever since the first ever historic all women’s show. That episode is available to listen to here.

september10krieger

3. Krieger

Another debut now, this time for big Scudmaster Sexy, Krieger. He had a lovely match alongside Kid Fite in a loss to Grado and former WWE star Santino Marella at Aberdeen Anarchy X, comedy wrestling at its finest. PBW’s show in Motherwell saw him losing to Aaron Echo, before he and TJ Rage became the new W3L Tag Team Champions at the expense of Prince Asad and Saqib Ali at Wrestlution XII. Rounding off that week was a win for himself and Lou King Sharp at ICW, besting The Purge in tag team action. Krieger’s last match was another win for him and LKS, retaining their PBW Tag Team Championships over Craig Anthony and Kieran Kelly in Larbert. As of writing, their title reign is now at a record-breaking 702 days.

september10damien

2. Damien

Damien became the first ever three-time Undisputed WrestleZone Champion at the start of the month, defeating former Sterling Oil pal Shawn Johnson in a Steel Cage Match at Aberdeen Anarchy X after Lee McAllister took care of The Sterling Brothers. Two successful defences of the gold left The Revolutionary undefeated in September, retaining against Johnny Lions and Andy Wild in Brechin and then against Chris Archer in singles competition in Keith.

september10polo

1. Jackie Polo

He is The Law Round These Parts, and now he’s this month’s top wrestler. After being unable to team with Polo Promotions partner Mark Coffey at Discovery Wrestling against The Kings of the North, Scotland’s beeeeesssssttttt tag team then went to a no contest with The Kinky Party at PWE’s most recent show due to interference from new PWE Tag Team Champions, The Purge. A huge victory ended his month, as he defeated old ally DCT by TKO to become the new ICW World Heavyweight Champion. With Fear & Loathing XI quickly approaching, it looks like we’re en-route to Polo/Lionheart IV at the Hydro!

It was another incredibly hard month to narrow down, which has resulted in a number of debuts on the list. That hasn’t stopped Joe Hendry and Viper from remaining the top two in the list however, with The Prestigious One now standing at an incredible 61 points. Will anyone be able to overtake him before the end of 2018?
