Fair City Wrestling make their debut on October 18th in Perth, initially due to take place last month it was rescheduled to October. Already scheduling never before seen matches in Scottish wrestling, using a blend of talent across the country to produce a mix of established wrestlers along with some maybe less well known names.

Due to the line up featuring many of my favourites, it was only right that I take you, yes you, through the card for Fair City Wrestling’s first event.

The commissioner for Fair City Wrestling is Kevin Williams, who will be a familiar face having been a mainstay in SWE who have made several trips to Perth in the past. Kevin Williams spoke about FCW in his recent Starter For 10 interview with ourselves, saying the following:

From its early inception John [Young] had asked me to hold the pencil and help him build his vision of what promotion he would be running.

This is a great honour for me and I want to use it to provide the best mix of talents and variety of shows that this country can provide. Opportunity for young guys in the east of Scotland such as John Kerr, Zack Leon and Olly Silverstone.”

Williams will be making an announcement regarding a Junior Heavyweight Division on the night.

Aspen Faith vs Ken Kaiden

The first match that was confirmed was Aspen Faith taking on ‘The Man of Glam’ Zack Leon, however, Leon had to pull out of the event and was replaced by Ken Kaiden. Kaiden is a hot prospect coming out of the city of discovery, who has had experience up and down the country including a trip to Australia. Aspen Faith is one of the best wrestlers in the country right now, and I’m not saying that due to favourite-related bias. Faith, one half of the current ICW Tag Team Champions, has been making his mark around the UK and quickly becoming a must see wrestler as part of The Kings of Catch and on his own. Whether it’s a technical masterpiece or death matches, Faith is truly an adaptable and certainly a chameleon in the ring. Ken Kaiden uses hard strikes and kicks to wear down his opponents, this has all the components be a show stealer.

The Alpha Male & Umar Mohammed vs Euan G Mackie & Craig Stephens

An interesting tag team match was announced for this event, interesting in that it’s a bit of a wildcard pairing. Euan G Mackie and Craig Stephens both have ties with The Alpha Male, with Stephens currently teaming with the giant as The Original Alphas elsewhere. Mackie is a personal favourite of mine so it goes without saying that this will be entertaining, and probably not without shenanigans due to the nefarious antics of Mr Mackie. He has experience teaming with Stephens to give the duo an extra edge. Umar Mohammed is really building a following at the moment, the youngster is certainly not lacking in confidence and though he may walk into the match with less experience as a wrestler, and as a team with The Alpha Male, it won’t stop him from going all out.

Johnny Thunder vs Cav vs Spike Teirney vs Olly Silverstone vs Tommy Cross vs John Kerr

The recurring theme for the evening will be taking young talents and letting them shine. This six way elimination bout is all about that. Cav walks in with the most experience, having been a former SWA Tag Team Champion, isn’t short of confidence and isn’t shy about bludgeoning anyone that dares cross his path. There’s a distinct mix of high flyers, grapplers and brawlers that could see the match break down early. SWN’s Year End Awards 2019 One To Watch Spike Tierney is involved and will be certain to take to the air at any given opportunity. Perth’s own Olly Silverstone will have the home field advantage but when there’s five other bodies involved it will still be a mighty task to survive to the end.

Ian Ambrose vs Luke Aldridge

The final match that was confirmed for FCW’s debut is a match that is going to be special. The “#Scumbag’ Ian Ambrose takes on ‘The Exile’ Luke Aldridge. Both competitors are very familiar with each other, having had many early exchanges when their careers began from straight up singles contests to multi man cage bouts, these two have a history. As far as the match goes, Ian Ambrose is another one of those chameleons that adapts to his surroundings, whether it’s high risk flying or grabbing a body part and cranking it until his opponent submits he’s well versed in whatever comes his way. Aldridge is a no nonsense punisher who uses his knees and forearms to batter opponents but also isn’t afraid to go down to the mat. This will be a war for sure, winning might not be the goal it might just be survival.

Rayhne vs Sammii Jayne vs Angel Hayze

The main event for FCW’s debut show will be a triple threat match involving ‘The Main Event Empress’ Sammii Jayne as she takes on one of her protégé’s in Angel Hayze along with the intimidating Rayhne. This is a fantastic match up to close the show that will feature Sammii wrestling in her hometown. Two of the fast rising wrestlers in Scotland with the constant in Scottish wrestling. Sammii, the current Fierce Females Champion, has recently returned from Germany as part of wXw and is one of the very best in the country right now. Angel Hayze and Sammii have had plenty of battles in the past so will be familiar with each other. Rayhne has been taking on all comers, male and female, and throwing them about with her power game. Between the speed of Hayze, technique of Jayne and power of Rayhne, this is the perfect storm of styles that could be another match of the night contender.

Tickets are still available from The Tulloch Institute Club reception, Eventbrite and PayPal (faircitywrestling@gmail.com). Pay at the door will also be operational on the night. If you are in the Perth and Tayside area this looks like a show that’s worth a look. They’ve stacked the card for their debut event.
