At Welcome to the Hellmouth, the now-former Fierce Females general manager Leah Owens unveiled the plans for what would happen if Jayla Dark retained her Scottish Women’s Championship that evening against Sammii Jayne, seeing as The Supreme Leader of The Thirst Order was set to retire at the end of that month. Even though Jayne was crowned the new champ, the tournament (then known as the Queen’s Winter Carnival) was still scheduled to go ahead in December. However, that show would be postponed to January 26th, now under the name of Disgusting Animals with the tournament renamed to the Tournament We Promised You In December.

But, it wasn’t that simple. Due to commitments away from the ring, Sammii Jayne has been unable to confirm herself for all of Fierce Females’ dates throughout 2020, resulting in her and FF management deciding to declare the Scottish Women’s Championship vacant. As a result, the tournament will now determine a new champion, with four huge quarterfinal matches having been put together. Let’s take a closer look at those first round encounters before the tournament goes down on Sunday evening in Glasgow.

Gisele Shaw vs Angel Hayze

Throughout 2019, Angel Hayze made her presence felt in Fierce Females, debuting for the company at their first show of the year, Be Your Own Hero. Her first victory in an FF ring was against Isla Dawn, an NXT UK star – what a way to start your tenure in a new promotion. Even though she failed to become the #1 contender for the Scottish Women’s Championship that same night (and the fact she didn’t actually pick up another victory in 2019, which is a surprising fact I discovered while doing research for this), ‘The Young Lioness’ remains one of the company’s fastest rising stars. She comes up against the ever-impressive Gisele Shaw in this match, with ‘The Quintessential Diva’ making her Fierce Females debut back in June with a loss to Lana Austin. While she’s only had one FF appearance thus far, Shaw has been making waves all over the UK, being a former Women’s Champion in Ironfist Wrestling while also recently capturing the Pro Wrestling: EVE Tag Team Championships alongside Sammii Jayne. Both ladies will be desperate to pick up a victory in Fierce Females seeing as their win/loss records aren’t exactly in their favour right now, with it being Hayze’s first in eleven months and Shaw’s first ever. History.

Prediction: Angel Hayze

Rosie Nyte vs Chantal Jordan

At Welcome to the Hellmouth on September 1st, both Rosie Nyte and Chantal Jordan made their debuts, with Nyte losing to Taonga on the pre-show while Jordan picked up a win over the returning Rhio, who was replacing Kanji. Seeing as she was so impressive, Fierce Females management have decided to give Rosie a huge opportunity as she enters the tournament, with the reigning Shield Pro Wrestling Almost Pro Women’s Champion hoping to make a huge impression on the audience. She’s fastly rising up the ranks of Scottish wrestling, so this is a great chance for her to be showcased on one of the biggest platforms available in the country. It’ll be easier said than done though, as she comes up against the ever-impressive Chantal Jordan. ‘The Baddest Girl on the Planet’ has become a huge asset to the roster down in England’s Kamikaze Pro, being a former two-time Live Champion. In Fierce Females though, Jordan had a massive chance at the company’s first show outside of Glasgow at Avenging Angels in Liverpool, with a loss to former Lucha Underground star Ivelisse. It may have been a loss, but Chantal put in a mammoth effort that night. Two names eager to become huge names on the British wrestling scene – capturing the Scottish Women’s Championship would do wonders for either of these ladies’ careers.

Prediction: Chantal Jordan

Dani Luna vs Hannah Taylor

Fierce Females are always bringing in the best possible talent from around the UK to use on their shows, and that trend will continue at Disgusting Animals as Dani Luna makes her Scottish wrestling debut to tangle with Hannah Taylor. Dani has been making a name for herself all over the UK, really bursting onto the scene over the last few months with her appearances for the likes of ATTACK! Pro Wrestling and the ever-popular Schadenfreude & Friends, while she has also signed an NXT UK contract. The current Women’s Champion in Dragon Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling SOUL, and Pro Wrestling Chaos (they call it the Maiden of Chaos Championship) shows just how good Luna truly is. Her opponent on the other hand is someone who I know very little about. Hannah Taylor made her Fierce Females debut on the pre-show for Avenging Angels, losing to fellow debutant Lizzy Evo. Aside from that, I only know what she was trained by The Grizzled Young Veterans, and that she’s wrestled for the Liverpool-based TNT Extreme Wrestling. She could be a dark horse to win the tournament, but seeing as her first round opponent is Dani Luna, I wouldn’t bet on it.

Prediction: Dani Luna

Sammie Jo vs Alexxis Falcon

Rounding out the opening round, we’ve got Sammie Jo taking on Alexxis Falcon. Both women had decent 2019s in Fierce Females, with Jo defeating Emily Hayden in the pair’s epic I Do Match at Exorcise Your Rite to earn herself an Internet Championship opportunity against Debbie Keitel at Avenging Angels. Even though ‘Sparkling’ Sammie would lose that bout, she showed she has exactly what it takes to make a champion in FF. Meanwhile, Falcon has defended the FutureShock Wrestling Women’s Champion to the company on two separate occasions, going to a Double Disqualification with Ayesha Raymond at Welcome to the Hellmouth (Ayesha’s German Wrestling Federation Women’s Championship was also on the line here), while she then retained the title against Amy Allonsy at Avenging Angels. It’s been a decent Fierce Females career thus far for ‘The Iron Queen’ – personally, I can’t see that momentum stopping any time soon.

Prediction: Alexxis Falcon
