Kay Lee Ray returned to NXT at TakeOver 36 in what appeared to be a challenge to NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez.
Following Gonzalez’ successful retention of the NXT Women’s Championship over rival Dakota Kai, Kay Lee Ray appeared on the entrance stage.
Former record setting NXT UK Women’s Champion of 649 days, Kay Lee Ray’s last appearance was her title loss to Meiko Satamura in a match aired on June 10th 2021.
Kay Lee Ray previously appeared in the inaugural WWE Mae Young Classic in 2017, making her NXT debut in 2019, and NXT Takeover debut at WarGames III in November that year, teaming with Bianca Belair, Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai in a losing effort against Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, & Rhea Ripley in a War Games match.
