Say his name, he’s history.
Insane Championship Wrestling have announced that former ICW World Heavyweight and Zero G Champion Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum will be inducted into their Hall of Fame at their June 18th Fight Club taping which marks four years since his passing at the age of 36.
A figure whose influence is still shown today through the wrestlers he interacted and trained through Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum, and through his promotion Pro Wrestling Elite, with tributes to the man still provided on the grandest of stages with Alba Fyre (Kay Lee Ray) and Piper Niven (Viper) wearing the Lionheart armband during some of their biggest moments during their WWE careers.
The PWE Heavyweight Championship, a title that Lionheart made a prestigious title to attain through his promotion, can still be spotted in front of some of the largest Scottish wrestling crowds during Grado‘s Big Family Wrestling Bash.
He will be inducted by The Kinky Party, Jack Jester and Sha Samuels, two close friends to Lionheart that will sure to host a fitting tribute in a place that he helped mould some of the best wrestlers competing in not only Scotland, but the world, The Asylum in Glasgow.
A hero to many, Lionheart defied doctor’s orders when it looked like he suffered a career ending neck injury in 2014 during a match with AJ Styles, following his return in 2015, just 377 days later, he was on a stratospheric rise to the top.
A former two time ICW Zero G Champion, Lionheart’s time in Insane Championship Wrestling saw him finally win the ultimate prize in 2018 when he was crowned ICW World Heavyweight Champion but would also be remembered for his heated rivalry with Jackie Polo, and his ability to entice a crowd with his words.
A wrestler many say was before his time, a linchpin in British wrestling for 17 years, a super star gone too soon.
Adrian ‘Lionheart’ McCallum joins Carmel Jacob, and Drew Galloway in the ICW Hall of Fame on June 18th.
