As the land of Rankinston becomes the newest region within the Pro2 Kingdom, a coronation awaits all in attendance on the 19th of August at the Rankinston Community Centre, as Pro2 presents King of the Bing. The six-bout extravaganza will be the Ayrshire promotion’s first venture into Rankinston and won’t be the last. As previously announced by both Pro2 and SWN, the full match card has been released, with several wrestling stars making their debut, alongside some familiar faces and some returning faces also. This article will explore the card in further depth.

Ray Berani made quite an impression in his Pro2 debut at Mayday Mayhem earlier this year when he conquered the popular powerhouse, Krieger – albeit through nefarious means. In a post-match interview with Kid Thomson, Berani made his intentions for the Joker’s Division known, as well as his apathy for what the fans thought of his dirty tactics. This did not sit well with Pro2’s resident superhero, “Scotland’s Masked Vigilante” Lucha DS. Lucha has long been a mainstay on the Pro2 roster, connecting with fans wherever he goes, and has been an immensely popular figure amongst Pro2’s younger fans. It is because of that that he wishes to defend their honour by challenging Berani to a match.

As Berani plans to step up and make a name for himself in the Joker’s Division, defeating Lucha DS would be quite an accomplishment on his path to terrorising the Division and earning a Why So Serious? Championship match somewhere down the line. Berani has shown that he can talk the talk here in Pro2, but he must now also prove that he can walk the walk in this encounter with a fellow PBW Academy graduate, which will mark their first one-on-one match with each other in any Scottish wrestling promotion.

Pro2’s “Struttin’ Sheriff” has been proudly defending the Scottish Interpromotional
Championship ever since dethroning Stone Malone in a triple threat match – which also
featured “Grapzilla” Meyhem Brooks – at Battle Lines in October of 2022, and has faced his fair share of contenders from every promotion in which he has defended the belt.

Frank never says no to a challenge, and he certainly has one on his hands as he goes toe-to-toe with one-half of the Glasgow Grindhouse, Krieger. Coming off of a scandalous defeat to Ray Berani at Mayday Mayhem, “Big Daddy Kill” is searching for a way to rebound and regain momentum, which is why he has set his sights on the champion and fellow fan favourite in a friendly match for the gold. Fans may be torn between the two as both men have a healthy respect for each other and the fans, and they look to tear the house down with what will be not only just a hoss fight but a strong championship exhibition between two titans.

“The Prizefighter” Dean Ford has been quietly lingering in the shadows of Pro2 since being defeated by Logan Smith for the Why So Serious? Championship in a unification TLC match at Bruisestation back in March of this year. Ford had plans to resurface at King of the Bing alongside his protégé, Marc Munro, to help guide him into the world of Pro2 and lead him to a gold-clad victory, as the duo were set to challenge Ace Anderson and Hugo Harris for the Big Massive Wrestling Tag Team Championships. Unfortunately, a sudden injury has sidelined “the Prizefighter”.

Since the Collective is a trio, fellow Collective member – the group’s enforcer – Scott Valentine will be taking Ford’s place. The inaugural and currently-reigning tag team champions for Big Massive Wrestling – and their opponents, also – will be making their Pro2 debut in a cross-promotional title defence. The champions hope that their energetic offence will conquer the young blood moxie of Munro and the brutal technical aggression of Valentine. With an impressive level of skill and experience under his belt, Dean Ford has gone far to teach his apprentice well and hopes that Valentine can assist in guiding him. This is Pro2’s first cross-over title bout with Big Massive Wrestling and both companies are certain it won’t be the last.

Both teams are gunning to make this tag team bout the match of the night, as the stakes are incredibly high. Due to the critical nature of this tag team championship contest, it would be understandable for grapple fans to speculate what a title change could mean for both promotions, and whether or not Ford will make his presence known at the show in an attempt to aid his stablemates.

“The Sinful Siren” has made waves across the nation with her no-nonsense attitude, wicked tongue, and stiff in-ring style, and the announcement of her emergence in Pro2 has certainly caused gasps and whispers amongst the Belles’ Division. When promoter Logan Storm scouted Spartan, she demanded a match at King of the Bing to put the Belles’ Division on notice, and Daisy Jenkins stepped up to accept the challenge and put a roadblock in Spartan’s plans for the Ayrshire promotion.

Pro2 is familiar territory for Jenkins, an FPWA graduate, who has competed in the Belles’ Division before in a losing effort to Ashley Vega at the Joker’s Wild show in May of 2022. Jenkins has grown a lot as a competitor since then and she wishes to balance out her W:L record in what will be her return match to the promotion, which is why she grabbed the chance to send “The Sinful Siren” back to her lair with both hands.

Inaugural champion Logan Smith has been on a roll since defeating Dean Ford to unify both Why So Serious? Championship belts after the controversial double-pinfall at Brawl at the Hall II in November of last year. He has taken on all challengers big and small in both of his reigns as champion; and, his next challenger is more than big – he is a behemoth. Towering over the roster at 6’7”, Hunter Samson has been on a rampage since bursting onto the Scottish wrestling scene.

Having been in the crosshairs of promoter Logan Storm for some time, Samson is keen to mark his territory in Pro2. The giant endeavours on a gold hunt as he lays claim to the Why So Serious? Championship at King of the Bing, as well as the Scottish Interpromotional Championship at Battle Lines; so, it may not be a surprise if Samson barges to the front of the queue for an Ayrshire Heavyweight Championship match sometime in the future. Samson becomes Smith’s biggest challenge to date, and the champion will definitely be in the underdog position for this match.

Smith’s dynamic offence may come in handy to evade and break down the monster; however, it remains to be seen whether or not his in-ring style and the thunderous support of the fans will be enough to help Smith walk out not only as the champion but with all of his limbs still attached.

The eponymous match will be making its debut as many hungry contenders will draw random entries and enter at staggered times according to their numbers. Competitors are eliminated after they are thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor. After one remains standing from the multi-person professional wrestling version of The Floor is Lava, they will be bestowed with the title of “King of the Bing” and shall receive a championship opportunity of their choice at any time over the next calendar year. Every wrestler on the card will be entering the match for a future title opportunity, but many questions remain for our fans.

Could a current champion win and attempt to become a double champion? Will a new star rise? Could tag team partners turn on each other? Could we have a Queen of the Bing, as both Spartan and Jenkins will be official entrants in the match? All of those questions will be answered when the bell rings and our ring announcer, “The Hammer” James Hamilton, announces the winner.

The doors will open at 5:30pm, with the first bell at 6pm. Tickets are priced at £5 per adult and £3 per child, which you can purchase by contacting Isobel Wagstaff via the Rankinston Community Hall’s ticket hotline (01292591491), where you can also get more information regarding the show.

All tickets are subject to availability and the card is subject to change.
