The road to Aberdeen Anarchy officially begins on March 30th with The Regal Rumble match. 25 wrestlers, one winner (usually), who main events Aberdeen Anarchy against the Undisputed WrestleZone Champion. Right now the champion is Lost Boy Aspen, the 2022 co-winner of The Regal Rumble. These guesses are with the assumption that he remains champion by the time May 11th rolls around.

As of writing only two names are guaranteed to enter the match, 2022 co-winner Zach Dynamite, and the ghost of Lord Mr Malice. So let’s wildly speculate on five potential winners of the 13th edition of The Regal Rumble:

5. Connor Molloy

One half of Flippy N Drippy, Connor snapped at Christmas Chaos after losing a closely contested Undisputed WrestleZone Championship match against Lost Boy Aspen. The former fan favourite joined Ronan King for a post-match attack on the champion.

He’s got a new attitude and a chip on his shoulder, that rage could be the key to Molloy finally getting away from the towering Crusher Craib shadow.

The big question is, will The Regal Rumble put a strain on this new alliance with Ronan King. If it’s down to them in the final two, I can’t see Molloy willingly stepping aside.

4. Dino

Currently on the injured list, but with Ted O’Keefe and Murphy in control of the tag team division, it paves the way for Dino to venture more into a singles run upon his clearance to get back into the action. A big return at Regal Rumble and winning the whole thing isn’t a bad way to kick that off.

Though he is technically one third of the WrestleZone Tag Team Champions per the Freebird Rule active on The Outfit’s Tag Team Championship reign, Dino has yet to personally get his hands on some gold in WrestleZone.

The 2024 Regal Rumble marks his sixth year in WrestleZone (subtract “The Pandemic Years” if you must) having debuted at the 2018 edition of the event, and from my very brief research Dino has never had a match for the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship. He’s had non-title bouts, and fought former Undisputed Champions including wins over Zach Dynamite, and Scotty Swift. Mark him as the dark horse, but this could be Dino’s year.

3. Mikkey Vago

Despite my hopes that Mikkey Vago will get his often requested import and team with Gangrel at Aberdeen Anarchy, he has to be quite high in the hypothetical betting order. At the turn of last year Vago was riding high as Tri-Counties Champion, a reign that ended shockingly at Station Hotel Showdown in January due to the betrayal of his Rejected brother Chris Archer.

The latter end of the year saw Vago continue striking out as a solo act, with multiple championship main events including two clashes with Lost Boy Aspen over the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship at Battle of the Nations and Halloween Hijinks.

As a former Tag Team and Tri-Counties Champion, Vago is two potential wins away from being the second modern Triple Crown/Grand Slam winner in WrestleZone history.

2. Caleb Valhalla

It’s been done by Crusher Craib (2012, 2013) in the past, and if anyone could do two Regal Rumble wins in a row then Caleb Valhalla is the one to accomplish that feat. The current Tri-Counties Champion is partnered with his Aberdeen Anarchy opponent last year, Lost Boy Aspen, so we could see a SKOL BROL rematch on May 11th.

Valhalla’s outlasted Bruiser Brad Evans and Ryan Riley in the final three last year but fell short at Aberdeen Anarchy in one of the most titanic battles in the North East. His solo endeavours weren’t fruitless when he defeated Zach Dynamite at Battle of the Nations later that year to win the Tri-Counties Championship.

A potential Champion vs Champion showdown is on the cards if Caleb not only wins The Regal Rumble but keeps a hold of the Tri-Counties Championship between now and May 11th.

Hopefully he doesn’t kill Lord Mister Malice for a third time, but put me down for Caleb to make it to the final two.

1. Ronan King

Sandwiching our five picks with the other half of Flippy N Drippy, ever since mid-2023 Ronan King has been my odds on favourite to win the 2024 Regal Rumble.

In saying that, Ronan hasn’t had a lot of luck in The Regal Rumble. His debut in 2022 saw him eliminate himself while escaping a Singapore Cane wielding Mikkey Vago, then last year he was the final entrant but was eliminated in seconds by Damien.

The first half of 2023 saw him entangled with Damien, with the back half chasing the Tri-Counties Championship against Caleb Valhalla. So far he has been unsuccessful but the matches have been top tier just without the desired result for “The Greatest 20 Year Old Wrestler”.

A focus on The Regal Rumble, an alliance with Connor Molloy, this could very well mark Ronan King as the youngest winner of The Regal Rumble.

The ‘Regal Rumble’ takes place on Saturday 30th March at Curl Sports Complex in Aberdeen.
