We’re back with another episode of This Is VALOR, the promotion has uploaded their second episode with footage from the second half of the debut VALOR event in Scotland back in February. Which took place at St Ninian’s Church in Kirkintilloch.
Legends Never Die (Fulton King & Sami Sparx) defeated Casino Brutale (Rabu Romero & Mikey Devine) by pinfall.
The epitome of back and forth in every way with Casino Brutale and Legends Never Die splitting the crowd in the early going. Rabu Romero and Mikey Devine busted out the tandem moves but Sparx and King were more than game to show off their own tag team chemistry.
Brutale found themselves struggling to get big Fulton King down, with King knocking Mikey Devine’s head off with a leg lariat over the top rope to the floor, Sami Sparx soon followed out with a flip senton off the apron to the waiting mass of bodies below.
After an extended beatdown on Sami Sparx, King managed to tag in and run wild to hit double damage, giving Rabu Romero a Fallaway Slam whilst having Devine on his shoulders for a Samoan Drop in a tremendous show of strength.
Mikey Devine finally got King off his feet with a second rope flying Codebreaker, a nice callback to early in the match when Devine went for a second rope axe handle but it was countered with a punch to the gut. He hit Sparx with a Superkick and Six-De-Vine (I’ll make this a thing) followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb from Romero to the luchador.
It looked to be odds on for a Brutale win, setting Sparx up for an Aces High but a slight readjusting of Devine’s position allowed time for Sami to wriggle out and push Casino Brutale into each other which gave him a chance to roll Mikey Devine up with a Sunset Flip to pick the win.
Quick tags and quick action, I loved that Rabu Romero started to get more aggressive as the crowd split started to move into LND’s favour but maintained a competitive level without straying too far into the bad guy route, keeping the match clean but letting the pulse of support grow for Sparx and King.
Another strong opening match for the episode.
Irn Dru Marshall defeated Jimmy Pierce by pinfall.
Pierce dodged the opening collar and elbow attempts so he could point and jaw jack with the crowd. Marshall caught him on the third time of asking with a gutwrench before leveling Jimmy Pierce with a big boot to the face.
After an onslaught of Irn Dru offense, Pierce retreated to the outside. Upon returning to the ring Jimmy Pierce managed to crotch Marshall onto the top rope and wear down his opponent with chokes, taking full advantage of the five count.
Marshall absorbed a couple dropkicks in the corner to fire up with a big clothesline, leading to a pop up Samoan Driver for a near fall. Dru tried to back to the well but Pierce escaped, used the referee as a distraction to land a knee flush into the face of his opponent.
Jimmy Pierce went up top but his flight was stopped sharply with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt to send Pierce to sleep for the count of three.
An emphatic finish with Jimmy Pierce crumpling after the collision with the head of Irn Dru Marshall. A solid match which made Irn Dru Marshall look like a badass, taking the damage from Pierce and returning with fiery rage.
Mike Musso defeated Timm Wylie by pinfall.
The two heavyweights traded a wrist lock, neither gave an inch as the headlocks were shared.
Wylie skinned the cat but was awkwardly sent back to floor, both tried to outpower the other. Timm managed to hoist Musso up for a powerslam for a nearfall. Musso fought back with slam of his own and headed to the top rope but Wylie met him for a superplex from the second rope.
After dodging a top rope splash, Musso managed to get Wylie in position to hit the Blunt Force Trauma DDT for the win.
A bowling shoe match you could say, a low energy plod at times. The Blunt Force Trauma DDT looked snappy to grab something positive from the bout.
UEWA European Heavyweight Championship – Triple Threat – Robert Star defeated Andy Roberts, and Frank Of The Cross by pinfall to win the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship.
Before the match could get going, Frank of the Cross turned up to tell the crowd a story. After something about Jesus Christ he ended up adding himself to the match to make the scheduled one on one match into a triple threat.
As the bell rang Cross made his escape leaving Roberts and Star to start the bout as intended. Cross picked his spot to drag Roberts out of the ring to push him into the ring post to get into it with Robert Star only to find himself feeling a couple big clotheslines and a German Suplex.
Cross found his way back into the match and stomped away at Robert Star, lifting him up for a big suplex. Frank faked out a dive which saw Star dodging a big nothing. Andy Roberts returned to throw Cross down but his second rope splash was countered seeing Frank of the Cross hang Roberts up on the top rope.
All three got themselves into the ring for a Tower of Doom with Cross suffering the worst of it. As the match reset Frank of the Cross founding himself caught in the middle of Robert Star and Andy Roberts who proceeded to throw punches at big Frank.
A cutter from Star and a Vader Bomb with a hell of a lot of air sent Cross rolling to the outside to leave it down to the originally scheduled match. After surviving a big spinebuster from Star, Roberts looked to have it won with a Belly to Belly Suplex but his Vader Bomb was dodged allowing Robert Star to hit a cutter to drill the head of Andy Roberts to the mat to win and pick up the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship.
There were some janky moments but overall it was a fun main event. That Vader Bomb from Andy Roberts to Frank of the Cross was a thing of beauty with Robert Star being the popular winner being showered with “Stallion” chants throughout the match.
The opening tag bout was great with the main event being constantly moving, the whole show was a quick hour. Musso-Wylie may not have hit the mark for me but it didn’t hamper the overall episode.
I liked that the episode opened with a little backstage segment with Seb Silvers and Sebastian Day shoving each other playing the blame game following on from episode one’s main event mystery attack on the pair, being eventually separated by Lou King Sharp with seeds being sown, give me more.
