This Sunday, Insane Championship Wrestling kick off 2025 well on the road to ‘The 13th Annual Square Go!’. The final stop takes place at The Asylum on the 12th with everyone looking to to gain momentum for one of the biggest events on ICW’s calendar.

2024 saw Insane Championship Wrestling, to many, regain that momentum that had been evolving since the restart of events following the COVID pandemic. It was a long road but has proven fruitful with new stars, and a new direction for the promotion that grabbed Scottish wrestling by the neck and brought it to the forefront of the casual wrestling fans eyes all those years ago.

Has it all been smooth sailing? Not at all, the WWE Network transition to Triller+, the return to monthly events over a weekly show, there has been an adjustment period but now ICW have moved back into a position to become one of thee promotions to buy a ticket and take the ride.

A packed eight match card has been confirmed. What do we have in store on Sunday?

Big Damo vs Stevie James

The common theme of this preview will be talking Square Go! momentum, and this is certainly one that fits the bill. Big Damo once again returns to Insane Championship Wrestling, a former ICW World Heavyweight Champion, world travelled, former WWE superstar, who is always a threat in the ring, plus he comes in bouncing back over a loss to Dylan Thorn at ‘Fear & Loathing’, it might mean we have a pissed off Beast of Belfast marching towards, and through, his opponent in an attempt to get that briefcase on February 9th at The Garage.

Another man who is chasing a win, former ICW Zero G Champion Stevie James, who hasn’t been victorious since October when he defeated the now-ICW Zero G Champion Landon Riley. James has had a string of bad luck with results not going his way but in previous years has put in strong showings in the Square Go! match.

You could look at it as Stevie James having a great opportunity to defeat a global name, strike a match on his Square Go! fuse, whereas for Big Damo it’s just another Sunday. Damo has beaten the biggest and best, Stevie James has got to be thinking what he has to do to control a rampaging beast.

Rampage Brown vs Theo Doros

Speaking of rampaging, Rampage Brown is heading to a ICW World Heavyweight Championship showdown with Kenny Williams on February 9th. He steps in with former ICW Zero G Champion and self proclaimed wrestling God. As far as a tune up match for Brown, it probably isn’t the one he would have in mind but if there has been some Red Lightning or Kenny Williams influence on the match decision that would make all the sense in the world.

Doros presents himself as straight-laced, by the rules, but the opponent Rampage is dealing with in February is the Scum of the Earth. That’s not to take Theo Doros lightly, he can be devious, case in point was how he began his second reign as ICW Zero G Champion when he assaulted Landon Riley and goaded the then-champion Stevie James into a match at ‘After Hours’ earlier in 2024.

A win over Rampage Brown would put Theo Doros into a very lucrative position. Should he then be added to the title match, he would have a case. Interestingly both are coming off wins over Pro Wrestling NOAH wrestlers, Brown defeating Saxon Huxley at ‘Fear & Loathing’ and Doros defeating Jack Morris at ‘Christmas Special’. This could be something special.

Kenny Williams vs Ben Rodgers

Speaking of Rampage Brown’s opponent, Kenny Williams is in non-title action over Ben Rodgers. No doubt Williams will have Red Lightning in tow to keep an eye on proceedings when he faces the one of the most exciting wrestlers coming out of Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum right now.

Rodgers felt the wrath of Williams’ at ‘Christmas Special’, attacking and handcuffing Rodgers before flogging him with a Singapore Cane for having the gall to stand up against the champion’s recent actions toward the former ICW World Heavyweight Champion, and Rodgers’ coach, Jack Jester.

Red Lightning was right, during the attack nobody came to save Ben Rodgers, he was punished for trying to show loyalty. Loyalty that Red Lightning provided to the brand, to ICW, and he was left out in the cold when he wasn’t deemed useful anymore. That bitterness can be a powerful thing, and now he has charge of a compliant ICW World Heavyweight Champion who also has a chip on his shoulders about being given a raw deal in the past, it makes for a compelling argument.

Ben Rodgers won’t be the last to be at the receiving end of battery, but as it turns heads it has to be pondered, will Williams and Lightning gain some disciples to the cause that has hear the words proclaimed strike a chord.

Kenny Williams is on the run of this life right now, as he becomes more unhinged you can’t begin to imagine what he has planned on Sunday, or against Rampage Brown on February 9th.

Krieger vs Colton Davis

One of the men that was witness to the Kenny Williams meltdown that saw Ben Rodgers stand up, was Colton Davis. Davis burst into Insane Championship Wrestling in 2024, coming within one win away from competing in the 12th Square Go! match only to fall at the final Fraser Girvan shaped hurdle in the GPWA Square Go! Entrant Tournament final.

Since then he made sporadic appearances in VIP early entry bouts with this first proper main show experience at ‘No Sympathy For The Devil’ in October, losing to Krieger in a match that was later to be revealed to be by request of the man himself. That’s where we can see this situation develop. Some eyes may have seen this as Krieger stealing Colton’s moment stemming to where we are now.

‘Fear & Loathing’ was set to be Krieger’s final match in ICW before he heads to Canada when he faced Aaron Echo in a Last Man Standing match. Defeated, and soaking in the appreciation from the crowd that was it for “Scudmaster Sexy”… until Colton Davis reared his head to pounce.

Krieger’s final bout was subject to change, fast forward to this Sunday where we see two giants collide. A win for Colton Davis sets his year in motion with expectations sky high, moving him up the ranks as potential Square Go! winners, getting a win against a former ICW Tag Team Champion, and one of the best big men that Scotland has produced. For Krieger it’s a chance of redemption, finish his ICW journey with his hand raised.

Kez Evans vs Lewis Girvan

As one man is due to make his exit from Insane Championship Wrestling, Kez Evans makes his in-ring return for the first time since the tail end of 2023. A Square Go! winner, a former ICW Zero G Champion, a former ICW World Heavyweight Champion, coming up against a wrestler that is one of the most unstable men on the ICW roster right now in Lewis Girvan.

After battling Arcade Violence for a lot of 2024, The Brothers Girvan met an untimely end following the events of ‘Fear & Loathing’ thanks to a brutal Jay Driller onto a ladder scaffold from Brody Turnbull fracturing his skull put Fraser on the shelf with the current timeline on a return being paused with his recent retirement announcement. Revenge looks to be on the mind of Lewis Girvan against Arcade Violence which could lead to some focus being lost when he comes up against a revitalised and rejuvenated Kez Evans.

Lewis Girvan thrives on the big match moments, his career has proven that, but that distraction will certainly be a factor, that was the case at ‘Christmas Special’ with a loss against the ICW Zero G Champion Landon Riley. As the first entrant announced, Kez Evans will surely be out to mark his intent for the Square Go! match.

Both have something to prove, this could steal the show.

Lana Austin Chooses The Opponent – Angel Hayze vs ???

More Square Go! prelude with a bit of mystery. We know that Angel Hayze will face ICW Women’s World Champion at ‘The 13th Annual Square Go!’, that’s set. It’s been over three years since Hayze won her last ICW Women’s World Championship, something that will obviously be on mind. She has been busy involved in the Victory Incorporated situation. Defeating Denise at ‘Christmas Special’ has renewed her focus on the gold, with all eyes on Lana Austin.

This isn’t a preview of that match, we’ll leave that for ‘The 13th Annual Square Go!’, what we do have is Lana Austin hand picking an opponent for Angel Hayze on Sunday. This opens the field to literally anyone, we’ve seen Angel Hayze fight any human breathing regardless of gender with equal rights and lefts.

One name that has to come to mind is Rob Drake, a man that is very close to the ICW Women’s World Champion. Lana Austin has a lot of contacts and friends in high places, which adds more curiosity on what she has prepared for “The Young Lioness”.

ICW Tag Team Championships Number One Contendership – Victory Incorporated (Ryan Richards & Lee MacRae) vs The Young Team (Logan Smith & Jimmy Pierce)

‘Fear & Loathing’ wasn’t a great night for Victory Incorporated, a loss to Angel Hayze, Che Monet, and Austin Brookes, then being surprised by the returning Kez Evans, it put a dent in their championship hopes.

On Sunday they come up against a team that hasn’t been seen in ICW for about 10 months. Former ICW Tag Team Champions, The Young Team. They will be out to make up for lost time, looking to regain the titles they lost at last year’s ‘Square Go!’ event.

The winners get Arcade Violence on February 9th, a team that is seemingly unstoppable right now. A bit of a momentum boost with a win here will go a long way to propel them into the future championship opportunity.

The Young Team have a great win-loss record against Arcade Violence, with plenty history taking on an overwhelming faction in ICW’s past in The Manifesto, that might give them an edge, but Victory Incorporated has been a present force in Insane Championship Wrestling for over a year now and have a better view on the landscape in the promotion.

GPWA Square Go! Entrant Tournament – Semi Final – Leon Graves vs Sean Summers

The final match for this preview is Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum stand outs facing off in a semi final match to determine entry in the Square Go! match. Last year’s tournament saw Fraser Girvan victorious, and even though his star shone bright and fast, it certainly helped push his way into Insane Championship Wrestling.

It won’t be the end of the story for either, with Jack Ripley waiting in the wings to take on the winner at ‘The 13th Annual Square Go!’ event before they can even think about entering the match itself.

Leon Graves may be familiar to some, his last appearance in ICW being in 2023. He took an extended absence from wrestling, making his in-ring return in November following over a year away. Much like The Young Team he will be looking to make up for the time away by injecting himself into the Square Go! match to make an impact.

His opponent is fresh on the scene, Sean Summers made his wrestling debut this past September but has already shown plenty of guts and determination. Picking up a win against Thomas Avery, followed up with a reported strong showing against Theo Doros in November. His limited experience might be a disadvantage especially against a cerebral strategist, but youth and exuberance is a wonderful thing that could provide the spark needed to punch his ticket to The Garage in February.

Tickets for the event are extremely limited but if you can’t attend the show it will be streamed live on Triller+.
