We’re a month into 2025 with plenty of opportunities on the horizon, so why not look ahead and predict some wrestlers that look to make an impact in the upcoming 12 months. For sake of clarity and argument, I have chosen 25 wrestlers that have yet to hold any championship in Scotland.
Please note that this is in no particular order.
25. Sean Summers
After a spirited showing on Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum’s ‘£5 Wrestling’ events, Summers made his official Insane Championship Wrestling debut a couple weeks back at ‘We’re Not Okay (we promise)’. A plucky babyface, who already has a strong fanbase in support. Wrestling fans love an underdog and the ‘Boy Wonder’ might be THEE underdog to get behind when it comes to ICW in 2025.
24. Patty
From FPWA’s wonder kid, to PWR PRO’s own prodigy, Patty who ended 2024 with a match against former NXT UK Tag Team Champion and one of the most athletically gifted wrestlers the UK has ever seen in Mark Andrews. From all accounts, Patty didn’t look out of place thanks to his accelerated experience gained via tours of the UK with Megaslam Wrestling. Let’s see what will come his way this year.
23. Botchico
Botchico has been gaining a lot of traction as a fan favourite in Fair City Wrestling. The masked man is beloved whenever he makes his way to the ring, and the adoration continues when the bell rings. I predict a big year for Botchico as that support grows he could be an undeniable title challenger in a short space of time at the Empire Zone.
22. Tommy Lockhart
After a long layoff, Tommy Lockhart returned towards the end of 2023 and spent 2024 wowing crowds with this technical ability merged with a high-flying tempo for a hybrid style that is prepared for opponents of all shapes and sizes. The confidence is growing with every appearance as Lockhart becomes a well rounded showman in the ring.
21. Charlie Vyce
A reinvention has given Charlie Vyce a new focus, forming Moxie’s Misfits in Iron Girders Pro Wrestling and becoming a sharp dressed feral animal in the ring. Vyce has always been well versed in his striking ability but more recently there has been a more violent tone to the kicks, like he has been trying to force his shin through the spine of his opponents.
20. Jan Islav
From Eastern Bloc, Jan has seen what his cousin Stan has accomplished by embracing capitalism but he has decided on a different path. Jan, along with Krobar, have become favourites in VALOR thanks to their brutal honesty about the treatment the UK as a whole has on those that choose to try to make a living in the UK from elsewhere. It may have come as a surprise, and against the norm, but Jan is charismatic and continues to fight which is admired by the VALOR audience. He was a count away from becoming UEWA European Heavyweight Champion, it’s not hard to imagine him going one further in 2025.
19. Evan Young
‘Mr 2004’ is a scrapper, an absolute pitbull in the squared circle, he has shown great tenacity against more experience and much larger opponents with no fear. His journey in WrestleZone has been stop-start but with a year being completed since returning, 2025 might be the one that we see Evan Young gain experience outside of the Granite City.
18. Branagan
The strategic psychopath over at Iron Girder Pro Wrestling takes great pleasure in bending joints in unnatural directions. His ability to grab a limb and pull apart at the tendons with no emotions is truly chilling to witness. The uptake of the heralded British Catch As Catch Can style over the last few years has been taken to heart by Branagan who will pick an opponent slowly and mercilessly. It’s quite the spectacle.
17. Oliver Green
The end of 2024 saw Oliver Green change tact, no longer a happy-go-lucky hand clapping, “Oli! Oli! Oli!” chanting sycophant, but now a bitter, head kicking machine. I’ve been talking about what Oliver Green has shown in his short career before but have maintained that he was missing a little something. This could be that something that opens doors for Green to venture all over the country in 2025.
16. Lee MacRae
A wrestler that is all about the sports entertainment business, he looks like a star, carries himself like a star, and operates with a sharp mind. There’s little wasted movement from Lee MacRae whether it’s in the ring or on social media, and his alignment with Ryan Richards in Insane Championship Wrestling speaks to his astuteness. He’s spent a lot of time developing in Glasgow so it will be interesting if he looks to expand his horizons in the next 12 months.
15. Aerin Taylor
A fresh face coming out of PWR PRO, the sheer joy that comes from Aerin Taylor is palpable, quickly becoming a favourite in Fife because her charm feels genuine. She has had less than a handful of matches but there is a pizzazz behind ‘The Sweetheart’ that will be explored this year ahead I’m sure.
14. Rhys Dawkins
‘The Most Intelligent Wrestler On This Side Of The Globe’ has been a wrestler I’ve championed for quite a while and now we are getting to see Dawkins spread the Shakespearean word elsewhere with appearances in Fair City Wrestling. A great wrestler, full of character, dependable, and adaptable to situations to maximise his time in front of a crowd.
13. Leon Graves
Graves made his return to wrestling after a brief absence in 2024 and immediately left an impression on the ICW audience. Dark, brooding, and a no nonsense approach to dismantling opponents. Leon is out to make up for lost time and it ain’t going to be pretty.
12. Robb Stow
In Discovery Wrestling he is providing The Good Times, but elsewhere we have yet to see what Robb Stow can properly do in singles. In brief appearances he has shown the potential that has become somewhat expected from the Discovery Wrestling Academy graduates. With his first appearance stepping out of Edinburgh and getting his feet wet over at Attitude Pro Wrestling coming up I can’t wait to see ‘Awesome’ Robb show what he is capable of.
11. Jack Ripley
A change in direction at the end of 2024 saw Jack Ripley thrown into a singles run to sink or swim after his Risky Business tag team partner called time on his wrestling journey for the time being. Jumping Jack is a flashy competitor that is ready to go viral with his shenanigans.
10. Tom Atlas
Injury put paid to a lot of 2024 for DE’s ‘Fallen God’ Tom Atlas but he’s kept his voice heard through the commentary booth for FCW Empire episodes. The manic energy of Tom Atlas can only be contained for so long though. A passionate individual who strives to put forward the best version of himself at any opportunity.
9. Monstrum
The terrifying monster has been hanging around the title scenes in Discovery Wrestling and WrestleZone in 2024 but has yet to get some gold in his hands quite yet. A deceptively agile big man with his aesthetic being bold and, quite frankly, scary. The horror vibe is unlike anything else going around Scotland right now.
8. Cassie Cook
One of the young students from Community Pro Wrestling’s Glasgow School of Wrestling, Cassie has already been in the mix with some of the best wrestlers around today like Emersyn Jayne, Amira Blair, Millie McKenzie, and Debbie Keitel. By all accounts she has excelled at a rapid pace and is a star in the making.
7. Ryan Richards
‘The Supreme’ Ryan Richards has been plying his trade in Discovery Wrestling and Insane Championship Wrestling primarily along with trips over the border. Proving his quality against highly regarded competitors like Leon Slater, and Gene Munny time and time again. Business minded, Richards is making the most of every appearance he makes.
6. Tommy Kartel
Another from PWR PRO, and another that has a magnitude of charisma and attitude. Kartel is larger than life, drawing all eyes on himself with his presence and loud personality, along with never being short of a word or three. Big things are on the cards for ‘The Heartbreaker’.
5. Gabriel Saul
Iron Girders have been producing some stellar talent with Gabriel Saul being one I’ve really enjoyed seeing in action. He has the look along with a cool aura, standing tall and assured against all opponents big or small. 2024 had him burst into the IGPW Championship contenders picture for a moment, it might only be a matter of time before he gets a shot at the champion again.
4. Zachary Swift
PWR PRO’s ‘Modern Day Gentleman’ has spent 2024 really getting himself in great shape and fully forming his motivations to take promotions by storm with an ability to twist and pretzel his opponents with grace. A technical wizard that would be an asset to provide a throwback to a British style with a modern twist.
3. TV’s Umar Mohammed
One of the longest tenured wrestlers on this list, ‘The Asian Sensation’ has steadily become can’t miss in Scottish wrestling. Able to tap into the crowd to emit an emotional response, The Desi Debonair has an impressive energy and array of moves to cause some sensational scenes.
2. Ben Rodgers
The hottest prospect in Insane Championship Wrestling right now, Ben Rodgers looks like a superstar and backs it up with an explosive power in the ring. ‘The Panther’ has been tussling with some of the best in the UK over the last 12 months including Kenny Williams which has seen him add an extra edge of aggression to his arsenal.
1. Daisy Jenkins
The newly rechristened ‘Starlight’ Daisy Jenkins has been one of the stand out performers in Scottish wrestling for the last few years. Touring the UK, and the world, to train and build experience against all manner of styles and opponents. She recently returned to ICW with a new outlook and attitude, it’s more when than if Daisy Jenkins gets some gold in hand in 2025.
Several missed out due to championship win technicalities (Bryan Mojo, Chip Watson, and Manky Frankie Richards being immediate examples having to be cut thanks to the nature of 24/7 Hardcore Championships) but Scotland is in a strong position coming into 2025 to provide a variety of wrestling for everyone to be entertained by.
Honourable mentions that just missed out on the 25 (but still working within the no championship confines):
- Austin Brookes: Brookes racked up some great performances in Insane Championship Wrestling in 2024, teaming with Che Monet and Angel Hayze to cause Victory Incorporated some misery. ‘The Pride and Joy’ will be a focal point in the future.
- Sam McMillan: Fair City Wrestling’s resident ‘Pretty Boy’ has creating some magic and now has his attention on tag team endeavours with William Macleod as Pretty Jumpin’. I can definitely see Sam being on the main lists when I come round to doing this next year.
- Thomas Avery: One that took my attention at GPWA ‘£5 Wrestling’ last year when he fought in a losing effort to Sean Summers. Avery is very slick, commands a room, and could be a very special talent in the very near future.
- Tommy Raiden: ‘Lightning’ Tommy Raiden has been splitting his time between WrestleZone and Fair City Wrestling, showing two different sides of his personality in both promotions, we’ve already seen an evolution into this grunge persona, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes in the next 12 months.
