We’re into regular scheduled programming with VALOR now, episode 20 realised over the weekend featuring a packed Grand Ole Opry. No cold open but the booming welcome from Soulman Kyle Wallace that took us straight into the action.

This episode featured matches from ‘Superslam’ that took place this past March.

Brodie Adler w/Penelope Grace defeated Daisy Jenkins w/Amy The Ref by pinfall.

The opening tie up immediately went into a scrap with Brodie throwing around Daisy who kept coming back with fast strikes to rattle The Dynamite. After ducking a 619 from Jenkins, Adler jabbed her thumb into her opponents eye to put a halt to the momentum gained by Daisy Jenkins.

Brodie wasn’t done with the eye-sault, dragging Daisy’s face across the top rope, and clubbing at the back of Jenkins making sure Daisy wouldn’t see when or where the strikes would come from. What Daisy did get to see was a rampaging Brodie throwing her into the corners and following up with a big splash.

Daisy was still breathing so was still fighting, both women ran at each other with clotheslines as Penelope Grace tried to get involved only to get into a fight with Amy at ringside. Daisy took advantage of the reset with glancing clothesline knocking Brodie into the second rope for a 619 to collide but the second rope diving European Uppercut could only get two.

Jenkins tried a guillotine hold but Brodie powered out by ramming Daisy into the turnbuckle. Jenkins got a third wind but Penelope Grace once again made her presence known on the apron which distracted Daisy to be rolled up for a loss.

Another really good match in this rivalry. Daisy Jenkins and Brodie Adler have a great chemistry which is elevated by the clear lines in the crowd reactions which both feed off of effectively. The naivety of Amy not being able to neautirise Penelope Grace was a nice little touch with a brief slip of the perpetual positivity of Daisy Jenkins who was visibly frustrated at how everything had played out. Great work.

Kayleigh was joined by UEWA European Heavyweight Champion Robert Star to talk about his upcoming match with BT Gunn.

Frank of the Cross and Stone Malone entered with Frank attempting to convert those to God by way of a donation but Fulton King snuck in with a chair to put an end to the evangelical display. Fulton 3:16 said it was time to boot Frank’s baws.

Fulton King defeated Frank of the Cross w/Stone Malone by pinfall.

King dragged Cross back to ringside after retrieving him from behind the entrance curtain. The crowd donated chops to the chest of Frank with the bell officially being rung as both returned to the ring.

Fulton continued to overwhelm Frank with power but a timely grab of the leg from Stone Malone gave Frank of the Cross the opening to boot King and hike him over for a suplex to grab a near fall. Cross kept the pressure on to keep Fulton King grounded, raking the eyes of Fulton to stop an attempted fireman’s carry.

A third consecutive splash was stopped with a collision but Fulton couldn’t turn the tide, running into a spinebuster for another two count. Stone Malone tried to bring in a chair but the distraction backfired with Fulton giving Frank a low blow, punched the chair into the face of Malone, and finished the job with a full nelson bomb for the win.

It wasn’t going to reinvent the wheel but for two big lads throwing hands it was a good bit of entertainment to spawn from the sermon segment. The end sequence was great with Stone Malone dropping to the canvas like he had been shot when the chair connected with his skull via ricochet.

On a stairwell, an erratic Daisy Jenkins was manically bouncing around trying to find the positivity in her loss, with Amy trying to not walk into the path of Daisy’s pacing. Kayleigh arrived to try and catch a word but Jenkins was too busy but once it was pointed out (by Amy) that there was cheating involved Daisy stopped and declared that there would be REVENGE(!). FYI, this is great.

UEWA European Heavyweight Championship – BT Gunn defeated Robert Star by pinfall to WIN the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship

While Soulman Kyle read out the accolades of BT Gunn, even The Oddity looked surprised by all that he has achieved over the years. Despite having a few titles on his resume Robert Star side eyed the Kyle’s reading of his own list.

The crowd weren’t split in the slightest, it was all BT Gunn in support. Star out maneuvered a tie up with an armdrag to give Gunn something to think about with another having BT crashing to the mat with a shoulder tackle.

Star was suckered into a free shot with his kick caught twice with Gunn managing to outsmart the champion. After finding himself being punched on the apron, Robert tried to leave with the title only to be followed by Gunn who dragged him back into the Opry.

Once it was back between the ropes, Star pounced with punches and biting to put BT onto the back foot and wasn’t giving him a second of peace with a hard lariat for a pin attempt. Gunn came back with a body slam as play time was over, a headbutt and several kicks to the head had Robert Star reeling but Star managed to roll out the way of a second rope diving headbutt to get back in charge.

Jan Islav and Patryk Peterski arrived to offer their support for Robert Star but it only allowed for Gunn to land a second rope superplex to Star. With the arrival of Eastern Bloc it revitalised Gunn who picked up the pace, landing a flatliner but it couldn’t quite do the job. Referee Sean Moran ended up in path of BT Gunn being dropkicked into the corner by Robert Star which gave Jan and Patryk an excuse to get involved.

Islav demanded Star to join Eastern Bloc but a slap caused Jan to be thrown out and Peterski walked into a cutter. Just as Robert Star tried to return to BT Gunn and go for a powerbomb, Gunn rolled him up for the three to win the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship.

Gunn offered his hand to Robert Star which was swept aside for a hug. A nice little bow with the handshake refusals earlier in the match, plus the cheers for Star because he didn’t get manipulated by Eastern Bloc was a nice addition. It felt like a main event match.

The crowd eruption when the three was made was huge, Gunn pointing to the sky to give respect to the title that had been held by the late Bad Bones, Alexander Dean, and of course Lionheart was great. It was overall so good.
