W3L’s biggest event of the year, Wrestlution, is tonight so with that in mind World Wide Wrestling League dropped their latest event on YouTube to catch us up on all things W3L in time. Collision In Kelty took place on March 8th at the Club in Kelty.

Bozidar Branimir defeated The Tormentor w/Luke Aldridge by pinfall.

In a bonafide dream match in professional wrestling, The Bulgarian Baker and The Tormentor faced off. Branimir dished out the pancakes to the crowd but his offering of a donut to the W3L Heavyweight Champion was cut off thanks to the sneak attack by The Tormentor.

Bozidar landed a shoulder block to start wailing on The Tormentor with punches in every corner to send The Tormentor crashing to the canvas. The Little Chef was brought out earlier but The Tormentor rolled out to the apron to draw The Bulgarian Baker to the ropes to be hung over the middle rope.

The Tormentor took control, slowly chipping away at Bozidar Branimir. A missed Tormentor Elbow gave space for a Baker near fall. Branimir avoided a second Tormentor Elbow but couldn’t quite break the assault from The Tormentor.

Branimir grabbed the donut to stuff into the face of The Tormentor after spinning out of a reverse DDT attempt. It was enough to stun The Tormentor to endure a slew of jabs, a Little Chef assisted jab to the throat left The Tormentor deflated.

A fun opening match, it had the silliness of The Bulgarian Baker than was taken to by the Kelty crowd. It was one of the better matches from The Tormentor. It was a lot of punches back and forth, with a very simple story, but the audience being locked in kept the atmosphere high.

Father Luke Aldridge admonished The Tormentor after the match and banished him to the outside while Aldridge awaited his opponent.

Luke Aldridge w/The Tormentor defeated Old School Cool by pinfall.

OSC rejected a tense handshake from Aldridge and immediately fired in with forearms to send Luke scarpering to the outside before the Big Boot could connect. A distraction from The Tormentor gave Aldridge the opportunity to push OSC into the ring post to begin his dismantling of the terror of the territories.

Aldridge targeted the back of OSC, but OSC fired up to dodge a corner rush to land a couple of his own. A third saw OSC run into a pump kick to halt the momentum. OSC got a third wind to connect with a peach of a lariat, followed by a standing elbow drop that couldn’t put the W3L Heavyweight Champion away.

The Tormentor once again tried to get involved but ate a forearm to the skull. The interference was enough to see Aldridge launch a discus elbow to the face of OSC to snatch victory.

A good follow up to the opening match, it coupled Luke Aldridge leaving The Tormentor to get battered with no assistance, then berating his masked protégé, only for The Tormentor to provide the much needed assist in order for Aldridge to get the win.

I also liked we didn’t see Luke go backstage, to re-enter again, just a little thing that I appreciated.

Lou King Sharp entered for the next match but was jumped by The Tormentor and Luke Aldridge. Aldridge swung the Singapore Cane off the torso of The Blood Tourist before taping Sharp to the top rope and continued to lash the bamboo off Lou King Sharp. A shot to the head finished the assault as Luke snapped the Singapore Cane afterwards, a symbolic conclusion.

As Sharp was released from the bind, Aldridge returned to spew verbal venom while Lou was laid out.

Chris Renfrew and Sami Sparx entered to declare themselves winners by default. Jonny Storm interrupted to proceed with the match, in an apparently handicap match.

Mike Musso & Jonny Storm defeated Chris Renfrew & Sami Sparx by pinfall.

It was malfunction in the junction early doors with Renfrew and Sparx not bring on the same page, I don’t think they were even reading the same book. Jonny rolled Chris Renfrew back into the ring but thanks to Sparx tripping Storm, the extra numbers finally came into play for Sparx and Renfrew to take over.

Renfrew and Sparx kept The Wonder Kid grounded as the fan support grew for Jonny Storm. Storm tried to fight back to escape a headlock but was immediately put back to the mat by a panicked Sami Sparx. While Sparx tried to recalculate Jonny kipped up to drive Sami’s down to the canvas.

Sami tried to tag in Renfrew who dropped his hand to leave Sparx to it. A last gasp Sky High had Storm dragging his way to an empty corner as Mike Musso’s music hit for Musso to rush down to accept the tag.

Musso demanded that Chris Renfrew tagged himself in but Renfrew dropped off the apron and walked out. With the tables turned Mike drove his knee into the side of the head of Sparx, for Storm to finish the match off with a 619 and superkick to leave Sami sparked out.

I’m quite liking the Chris Renfrew and Sami Sparx pairing, the desperation of Sami to do well in order to improve his standing with Renfrew is cult-like which could be explored more. Renfrew and Storm have a very good chemistry during their exchanges. Despite being under a mask you can understand the emotions and expressions that Sami emits which is another big positive.

The tease of Musso versus Renfrew gave just enough to create a bit more intrigue on their impending showdown at Wrestlution.

Hera w/Hugo Harris defeated Rubi Roberts by disqualification.

Hera, as expected, overpowered Rubi Roberts in the early stages, squatting The Basic Bitch Slayer for multiple reps. Roberts had to pick up the pace, escaping the fireman’s carry to charge Hera into the corner. The advantage was short lived with Hera standing her ground and having Rubi return to being on defense.

The Goddess threw Roberts to the outside, with Hera joining her to provide further punishment to drive the air out of the lungs of Rubi while Hugo Harris strutted around ringside. The domination from Hera was stopped by a jawbreaker to give Roberts some hope, striking Hera down to a knee and following up with a basement splash to a kneeled Hera.

Rubi Roberts was on the comeback trail by driving her knees into the face of Hera. Hera quickly chucked Roberts to the mat with a half nelson slam. A Samoan Drop left Rubi writhing in agony while Hera and Harris posed. Hera seemed to realise that she hadn’t pinned Rubi so sent her to the ropes, while Hera tried to keep the referee occupied Hugo Harris used his wrist tape to choke Rubi… only to be caught to lead to the disqualification of Hera.

Event Operations Manager Claire walked out to announce that due to their actions, Rubi would be added to the W3L Women’s Championship match at Wrestlution.

The finish made Hera look either arrogant to the point of delusion, or very stupid. Forgetting to make the pin, then sending Rubi out to Harris when the crowd were at their sugar infused peak just made it seem like the order of events were jumbled up. There was a different aura from Rubi, and I think it’s the power of a new look. The match was fine, but the finish was messy. Hindsight etc, but taking out the conflab between Hugo and Hera from the sequence, and have Rubi kick out of the Samoan Drop to heighten the drama may have tidied things up.

Again, crowd reaction was hot. It was a very wrestling ready audience in Kelty.

Irn Dru Marshall defeated Paul Hubris by pinfall.

It was pure pantomime to kick off the main event, a loud baldy chant directed at the follicly challenged Paul Hubris that was played up with a sneaky smack to the chrome dome from Irn Dru.

Once they finally locked up it was very much two well matched competitors of similar attributes. Hubris got the best of the wrestling portion, with Marshall showing plenty strength in return as Paul held some air to cause a pause mid-hip toss that was impressive as Irn Dru showed his explosive power. Hubris rolled to the outside to regroup which eventually brought Dru to the ropes.

Hubris tried to crotch Marshall around the ring post but it was countered to send Paul into the post. Dru added further pain with a slam onto the wooden floor at ringside. The two brawled among the crowd, exchanging chops back and forth.

A leg grab while re-entering the ring from Paul Hubris had Irn Dru scrambling as Hubris made his target of the recently injured hand of Marshall evident with stomps and slapping at the hand to add extra pain to chin locks. Marshall rebounded with a running crossbody but couldn’t capitalise.

Paul once again put the pressure on Irn Dru, who exploded once again for a superkick and cutter one-two to reset the bout. Both men slowly got to their feet to slug strikes at each other. A Death Valley Driver from Hubris couldn’t keep Marshall down for the three so he went back after the hand while Dru screamed in agony. Hubris held the wrist for a bit too long to admire his work, only to be hit with a headbutt and be knocked out Irn Dru Marshall to get the three count.

A little chaos in the main event to wrap up a solid show from W3L. The fans in Kelty ate up every moment and putting their hearts and souls into supporting the good guys. The Kelty crowd were wild last year and they didn’t let up again. The show had a good pace, with each match using their time well. The only blip for me was the confusion in the end of Hera against Rubi Roberts but it didn’t hurt the audience investment on the night.
