I know, I know, I’m a bit slow in getting this watched and reviewed. It’s been a busy couple of weeks eh. We’re back! This Is VALOR episode 10 is available on the internet, so let’s get into the episode. It started with a new intro, snazzy graphics, giving the big event feel, accompanied by the booming voice of master of ceremonies Kyle Wallace to welcome us to the show taking place at St Ninian’s Church in Kirkintilloch.

Triple Threat – Jan Islav defeated Hugo Harris, and Nitro Green by submission.

An interesting trio, in my experiences going around the wrestling I’ve been more familiar with Hugo Harris being the cocky, slimey, self proclaimed, most handsome wrestler in the world, so to see him slap hands and garner crowd support felt like something from a strange multiverse.

Islav and Green immediately tried to cut down the fan favourite but Harris fought back, sending Green to the outside and striking a stunning dropkick to knock down Jan Islav. A triangle dropkick knocked off Nitro Green off the apron as Hugo Harris ran riot in the opening exchanges.

The numbers eventually swung into the favour of Jan and Nitro who took turns one-upping the other by punishing Harris. Crashing him to the mat with a double team suplex. The unlikely duo seemed to be working well by keeping a still fighting Hugo Harris on the ground.

Hugo wasn’t to be beaten, countering an attempted double team move to get a string of offense together, driving Jan’s head to the canvas with a bulldog while simultaneously giving Green a lariat.

As Jan rolled to the outside to regroup, Nitro struck with a superkick to Harris, then planted him with a second rope springboard cutter. Before the Dane could take advantage Jan burst in to remove Green from the ring and slap on a Cobra Clutch to make Hugo Harris fade out. Islav wouldn’t relent the hold until Mike Musso made his presence known to chase Jan away.

A great opening match, Hugo Harris as the underdog was new to my eyes but we got to see a more crowd pleasing side to his in-ring work. There’s still the Mr Perfect flashes and the VALOR crowd were more than happy to throw support behind him.

Jan Islav continues to be a curious entity in VALOR, some shows the crowd love him (or as theorised, it’s actually Krobar that is the lovable one), and at other shows he is treated like the worst human imaginable. What matters though is you don’t see Jan react to any potential changes of course, he is Jan Islav and that’s what you get, take it or leave it. Nitro Green always brings an unpredictable nature, and this match was anything but predictable. This was another quality opener to a This Is VALOR episode.

Jimmy Pierce defeated Saqib Ali by pinfall.

Despite his cheery entrance music, Jimmy Pierce wasn’t looking to make fans smile, brushing them aside and earned a “dafty” chant to kick things off. Pierce avoided the lock up attempts before Ali got fed up and grabbed him for a waistlock takedown.

Ali kept the pace high, throwing Pierce over for a couple hip tosses, before chopping the chest of Jimmy Pierce that echoed around the hall. Pierce managed to dodged a corner rush, and with a stun gun to hand Saqib over the top rope ‘The Gem’ took control.

Saqib stayed in the battle, finding room to attempt the Stinger Splash again but Pierce moved, but Ali immediately got onto the second rope to dive for a lovely tornado DDT to send Jimmy reeling but it was only good for a two count.

After a back and forth tussle Saqib landed the running knee but Jimmy Pierce rolled to the outside. Ali followed but after Pierce dragged referee Sean Moran to stopped a rampaging Saqib. The distraction allowed for a low blow and reverse tornado DDT to keep Ali down for the count.

To be expected, but Saqib Ali is so solid in the ring. There was good chemistry with the smug Jimmy Pierce ultimately using nefarious means to beat his more experienced opponent. A thoroughly entertaining contest.

Legends Never Die (Fulton King & Sami Sparx) defeated God’s Country (Frank Of The Cross & Tim Strange) w/Sister Veronica & Stone Malone by pinfall.

Tim Strange tried to spread the word of God’s Country before the bell but those in St Ninian’s Church weren’t for partaking in the chant, electing to show their support for Fulton King and Sami Sparx inside the holy venue.

Strange wanted no part of Fulton King, giddily tagging in when Sami Sparx became the starting option. Sparx wasn’t phased by his larger adversary, dodging attacks before tagging King in to send Strange scurrying to Frank Of The Cross in the corner.

Cross caught a flying Sami Sparx for a big slam but Sami managed to kick out, allowing Strange to come back in for some RODEO TIME as God’s Country were in the driving seat. Isolating ‘The Chaotic Luchador’ and having their way with the masked man as Stone Malone and Sister Veronica looked on.

God’s Country kept the pressure with quick tags, but Sparx managed to get Cross back long enough to spring off the second rope for a cutter, and finally tag in Fulton King for a face off with Tim Strange. The Juggernaut had fists flying for a flip, flop, and fly to leave Cross and Strange prone for a double RODEO TIME much to Sister Veronica’s disgust.

It took some divine intervention for God’s Country to stop Sparx flying with Cross grabbing the top rope to crotch Sami on the top turnbuckle. While Frank concentrated on naturalising Fulton King, Sami quickly rolled Strange up for a pin.

A pissed off Frank Of The Cross challenged Legends Never Die to a Texas Tornado tag match for Paisley which was immediately accepted to close the episode.

It was a chaotic end to the episode. The tease and build up to Fulton King and Tim Strange facing off was great, and I still want to see that one on one for some big meaty men slapping meat in the future.

Three distinctly different matches that offered a variety of action while setting up and continuing pre-existing stories like LND and God’s Country, along with Musso versus Eastern Bloc. The quality from the first episodes from the same venue to now is night and day aesthetically. An easy watch.
