It has been a while since Iron Girders Pro Wrestling visited Easterhouse, December 2023 in fact, which is a fair stretch of time. The full show was live streamed on Twitch once again which made Billy a happy lad as he got to take in the action. On the night I caught the second half so it was high time, some 48 hours later, to replay the show and take in the delights of Easterhouse.

PWE Tag Team Championship Tournament – Quarter Final – The Young Team (Logan Smith & Jimmy Pierce) defeated BT Gunn & Tommy Lockhart by pinfall to advance.

Replacing an in attendance, but injured, Kez Evans was ‘Tremendous’ Tommy Lockhart to add even more tension to an already frosty alliance. Jimmy Pierce, in true arrogant form, mocked BT’s spinaroonie entrance with all the grace of a dying goose.

Following some time wasting and a sneak attack attempt from The Young Team it was time to get down to business with BT Gunn schooling the young whippersnappers, sending them all over and getting quick tags with Lockhart to get their new tag team on track to bounce Logan Smith around the ring.

Thanks to a hard forearm Smith got Jimmy Pierce involved but he got bamboozled by a handstanding Tommy and felt a moonsault before BT Gunn tagged back in to put the knees to Pierce. It took some underhanded tactics for The Young Team to finally get some momentum, with Logan driving a sneaky knee into the back of Lockhart to isolate the Iron Girders showman.

After weathering the double team storm, Tommy finally tagged in Gunn to run wild. The match broke down with Pierce and BT fighting up the entrance way, with Archie Williams distracted by the chaos it allowed Logan Smith to drop Lockhart with an atomic low blow to pick up the win and advance to the semi finals.

The hard carm caught Kez Evans making an exit following the results, rolling his eyes to see Tommy Lockhart step up to take his place but once again fail to pick up the win. It was by nefarious means with Logan Smith taking the low road to get the three count but with how this fracture between Lockhart and Evans continues to get wider, it is surely another straw on the camel’s back and who knows how many it will take before it breaks.

A fun opening match, The Young Team are hilariously smug when they are on the offense as well as so full of character when they are getting hunted down as that brashness quickly turns to fear. An extremely talented duo. The potential one night only combination of Lockhart and Gunn produced a well oiled tandem who looked to have teamed for years, surely there’s scope for a cool combination team name between them as well, I’ll come back to that idea at some point… The Tremendous Oddities.

Branagan defeated Ross Hunter by pinfall.

Branagan quickly went to work in twisting and torquing the limbs of Ross Hunter, with Ross having to try and get the pace up to his level. A bow and arrow stretch gave Hunter an opening but the momentum was stopped emphatically with a belly to back suplex to send him hard to the mat.

The back looked to be Branagan’s main target, with suplexes keeping Ross grounded and being an effective route to stop any string of moves being put together. The torture continued with hard Irish whips into the corner while peppering kicks to the torso and head to dishevel Hunter.

Just as it looked like Ross was getting the right combination, with a second rope back elbow rocking Branagan, Robert Balfour appeared which turned Hunter’s attention away from the action which allowed Branagan to school boy Ross for the three.

An uncharacteristic victory for Branagan, using unsportsmanlike conduct to his advantage. The Iron Girders audience have rapidly taken to Ross Hunter after his previous appearance seeing him being left high and dry by Balfour in the PWE Tag Team Championship Tournament.

It was a quick match which left more on the table for another round down the line which I’d be down for.

For The Fans Championship – Harley Hudson defeated Ellie Armstrong by pinfall to retain the For The Fans Championship.

In a power trade off to start with, Armstrong looked to have the upper hand in the tie up but after a wee springboard using the bottom rope it allowed Hudson to shift the balance to Hudzilla’s side of the equation.

Harley almost toyed with Ellie, countering offense with push ups and taunts to enrage ‘The Plant Based Powerhouse’ which ultimately gave Armstrong that extra bit of motivation to smash Hudson to take control.

As Hudson continued to fight back, she finally shoulder barged Armstrong to the mat with her adrenaline powering through every knee strike to the corner. Ellie shot out like a green and black bullet to land a splash and Bayleef To Belly but it wasn’t enough to keep Hudson down. An apoplectic Armstrong argued with the referee and in the mire of confusion saw Harley grab her for a springboard bulldog to plant Ellie to the canvas to retain.

A highly enjoyable first half main event with the ever popular Harley Hudson proving why she has finally been signed by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, as she effortlessly garnering the crowd support to assist in her plight to overcome her opponent. Since embracing the hatred from carnivorous critics Ellie Armstrong has been on an upward turn, showing a lot of confidence in her movements around the ring and delivering spirited performances along the way.

The second half began with the long awaiting face to face summit between Martin MacAlistair and Prince Levi, 18 months since the initial betrayal in Easterhouse. Before Martin could get a word in after his entrance, the music of Prince Levi hit as security entered the square circle to keep the tensions at bay.

MacAlistair offered an olive branch to get his best friend back after a year and half of fighting all over Iron Girders. Levi retorted that it wasn’t over and next time he would end MacAlistair which sparked a brawl. Levi returned with a chair to smack it over the head of Martin to put an exclamation point on his stinging words.

A heated confrontation with a violent conclusion. I noted that of the three security crew members two faced Prince Levi and only one faced Martin MacAlistair, I like to think it’s Commissioner Bulwark thinking that if anyone is going to kick off it’ll be Levi but in fact it was Martin that crossed the line added to the tumultuous nature of this feud.

PWE Tag Team Championship Tournament – Semi Final – KoE (Adam King & Marcus King) defeated Tall N Tiny (Kev.i.n & James Diaz) by pinfall to advance to the final.

There were no silly additions to their entrance, Tall N Tiny came in with game faces on against an arrogant KoE. While Kev tried to get the upper hand, it was James Diaz that was finding the rhythm, until a Poetry In Motion attempt was countered with Marcus King slamming Kev onto the back of Diaz to swing the favour back to KoE, keeping Kev.i.n in their corn.e.r.

Kev continued to fight but was overwhelmed by quick tags and stinging double team offense to keep him grounded. It wasn’t about the size of the dug in the fight as Kev managed to get enough space to tag big James back in with Powerbomb-Back Suplex combo to Adam King only being scuppered by a timely break up for the pin by Marcus.

After a flurry of moving parts, Marcus kicked James Diaz off the apron and the brothers launched Kev into the air for a double team last ride to end the underdog story of Tall N Tiny.

KoE were again clinical, showing no mercy in their quest towards glory. Tall N Tiny had a brief chance but otherwise it was all KoE marching forward to the PWE Tag Team Championship Tournament finals. Kev.i.n and James Diaz being without their lucky charm Astrid Day could’ve given Adam and Marcus a psychological edge perhaps but they were ruthless in victory.

So that’s one finalist determined with KoE facing either The Young Team or Casino Brutale in the near future to crown the new Pro Wrestling Elite Tag Team Champions. There will be a lot of bets put on the IGPW Kings of the Fling co-Champions Mikey Devine and RABU to be standing across the ring when the time comes but this tournament has thrown some surprises already so best not to count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table.

Chris Kingston coming out to ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’ on a Sunday is peak weasel behaviour. He had a whinge and threw out an open challenge, answered by a masked luchador from Costa Del Motherwell called Dragonheart.

Dragonheart defeated Chris Kingston w/Big Mick by pinfall.

Before the raffle we got the debut of The Azúcar Chico in gold and black, that took The Weasel and the Big Mickelow aback.

Despite managing to muscle his opponent around in the opening the tie up, Chris Kingston found himself being flung around like an El Wetto Tracksuito. An escape to the outside, and a distraction, allowed Big Mick to get involved. The interference helped Kingston turn the tide, throwing Dragonheart off the top turnbuckle and putting the boots to the masked man.

The crowd in Easterhouse got behind Dragonheart, who got some deep arm drags but Kingston avoided a 01698 with the brawl leading to Dragonheart being thrown outside the venue. Moments later the masked man appeared from an entrance on the other side of the venue and ran wild, taking Kingston down with a shoulder block, diving onto Big Mick, and ending his night with a 01698 and beautiful top rope diving crossbody for el victory.

A quick showcase for a new, albeit hidden, face in Iron Girders Pro Wrestling. I have no doubts that The Masked Assassin will be stewing in his dojo at the thought of the crowd taking to Dragonheart. Or maybe it is the next evolution of The Masked Assassin? Chris Kingston made his guess at the start of the match for it to be Jordan Wolff, who would’ve needed either a hell of a lot of skin tone body paint or laser tattoo removal has come a long way… he might be a weasel but that doesn’t mean the intelligence is all there…

The unhinged raffle has become a staple on Iron Girders events with vodka, Funko pops, posters, I tell you there will be a day that there will be a slab of ham on offer. Katt Wolfe tried to keep control as Robbie Cardwell leathered himself in the face while swinging the raffle bag.

IGPW Championship – Luke Kyro defeated Irn Dru Marshall by pinfall to retain the IGPW Championship.

The mind games began early with Irn Dru trying to get a “jobby” chant going which Luke Kyro brushed off. Despite Kyro’s best efforts with a headlock, it was Marshall who took charge with a wrist lock to send him to the mat.

Kyro and Marshall continued to trade holds, with a ground headscissor from Kyro being escaped with a kip up for a round of applause. The champ tried to sucker Irn Dru in with a handshake but his hip toss attempt was flipped out of which looked smooth and impressive.

On the outside Luke tried to trap Dru in the ring curtain, but ended up receiving a hard chop to the chest moments later. It took a swift kick to the middle rope to rattle it off an entering Irn Dru’s groin to formulate some sort of advantage for the champion.

The pace began to slow down with the crowd loudly in support for Irn Dru Marshall. He powered out of a headlock but collided with Kyro as they both attempted a running crossbody to lay them both out. Irn Dru won the resulting exchange of punches back and forth but Kyro managed to land a slingshot spear for a near fall.

With the champion almost out of options he started removing turnbuckle pads to occupy referee Archie Williams, and to grab the IGPW Championship, but his plan to strike with the gold saw him run into a superkick and Irn-KO for a long two count. Dru set up for his Glasgow Kiss headbutt but Kyro dived to roll Marshall up with a handful of tights to retain.

As the dust settled, Irn Dru offered a handshake only to deliver a headbutt to officially welcome Luke Kyro to Easterhouse.

Irn Dru was like a Terminator in moments, walking through offence and looking enraged at the gall of Kyro trying to outsmart him. The champion squeaked another retention by hook and crook. Even though Kyro managed to keep the title, the crowd got sent home happy. A fine main event to a really solid show.

Some great matches, an extension to previous events in Easterhouse with Martin MacAlistair and Prince Levi getting heated, progression in the PWE Tag Team Championship Tournament, and carrying on from Gallowgate events with Ross Hunter and Robert Balfour adding Iron Girders to the places they will do battle in the near future. An all rounder of an event. Good stuff.

The show is still currently available to replay on Twitch here, and will appear on YouTube soon.
