We’re back in Tayport for this weeks FCW Empire. featuring the final two matches from the event from back in July.
Patryk Peterski defeated Spike Tierney by disqualification.
Patryk Peterski entered in a Tayport state of mind to takes on the FCW Junior Heavyweight Champion Spike Tierney in a non-title match. The super junior heavyweight was denied his chance at the title which please one child in the crowd that wasn’t on the Big Paddy Cool train.
Spike hit hard and fast, concentrating his opening strikes on the backside of Peterski. It was third time unlucky with Patryk grabbing Tierney and proceeded to throw him about, delivering corner splashes, and a sidewalk slam to ground his opponent.
Tierney found a little space for a top rope crossbody which was sidestepped by Peterski. Spike got another room to strike with a superkick to rattle Patryk which had Paddy on defence. A dodge from a clothesline left Spike prone for a short arm clothesline, with Patryk trapping him into a Polish Cloverleaf. Tierney dragged himself to the ropes to break the hold, using the recovery time on the apron to sucker Peterski in to be hung off the top rope and regain control of the bout.
It was a slow pick apart of Patryk Peterski, who tried to fight back with a Pole-ympic Slam throw over the top rope. Tierney landed on the apron and continued the assault, dropping a leg lariat form the second rope. It wasn’t enough to keep Patryk down with a desperate Spike grabbing the Junior Heavyweight Championship. Referee Chris Quinn was quick to wrench the title away from Tierney that gave Patryk another chance to fire up with a Polish Hammer and a big spinebuster.
Another stabbing superkick to the throat put Peterski back to the canvas. A follow up Swanton Bomb wasn’t enough with Patryk rolling a shoulder up. Tierney went for the Abra-Kebabra that was spun out into a Pole-ympic Slam. Spike rolled to the floor, snatched the belt that was left in the corner and clocked Patryk while he attempted to return Tierney to between the ropes.
It was a fine match, it didn’t really get out of third gear, but the crowd reaction for Patryk was still consistent in support. It felt like there was DE fatigue when Spike entered as it would’ve been the fourth time that music would’ve played in Tayport plus with DE interfering earlier that show in the match between Duke and Kidd Bandit, to then have the disqualification finish, it left the atmosphere deflated that DE have, pardon the pun, dominated everything in Tayport.
FCW Heavyweight Championship – Retro Randy Valentine defeated Shaun Faegan by pinfall to retain the FCW Heavyweight Championship.
Retro Randy picked up the audience with the sound of Status Quo echoing around The Larick Centre. Shaun Faegan was on the attack before the bell, standing firm for Valentine to throw hands in response. Randy buckled Shaun with a dropkick to get some momentum going.
Shaun Faegan lay on the second rope, but Retro Randy took too long to go for a leg lariat as his opponent got out of dodge and retaliated by putting the boots to the back of the FCW Heavyweight Champion. Valentine fired back with haymakers but a rush into the corner was countered to send Randy being sent to the outside and landing on the wooden floor below.
Faegan kept the pressure, aiming his attacks to the back of Valentine via hard Irish Whips, back rakes, and hurling Randy across the ring. It wasn’t enough to keep Randy down with the shoulder rolling up at the count of two.
The constant beat down from Shaun Faegan unlocked the Retro Rage, the right hands were chucked, the big boot of doom was landed, and the leg drop of doom was planted. Randy called for the elbow drop of doom which hit the mark for Retro Randy Valentine to retain the FCW Heavyweight Championship.
Ryan Roode rushed out post-match to brawl with Valentine, which was stopped by Kevin Williams. Williams announced that the main event of ArdlerMania would be Retro Randy Valentine versus Ryan Roode for the FCW Heavyweight Championship. Valentine added that it would be No Holds Barred.
A heated end to the night for the main event announcement to land. Again the match itself was okay. It put across that Retro Randy Valentine is a valiant champion to endure the onslaught of Shaun Faegan to survive with the title in hand, coupled with the fact that it was Randy that made the challenge to put the title on the line. It served that purpose well. It added some sizzle to the rematch between Valentine and Roode at ArdlerMania.
That’s Tayport completed with ArdlerMania next on the agenda, it was a digestible episode of FCW Empire as the road to ArdlerMania soon reaches it’s destination.
