In an added bonus before Ruggy Mania, Attitude Pro Wrestling hosted a charity evening in aid of Fortified Future. The final chance to maybe throw a spanner into the line up for Ruggy Mania perhaps.

Tia Rey, former River City cast member and current touring comedian, replaced Magic Dave to host the event.

El Extrano defeated TMH by pinfall.

El Extrano made a fool of TMH early on with a bamboozling barrage. TMH spotted his opening and targeted the left knee of the masked man to keep Extrano close to the ground.

An array of kicks and boots were doing the job but a defiant El Extrano was kept himself in the fight, with his attempts to get momentum stopped in their tracks by TMH. El Extrano kept coming back to break the TMH onslaught via a Codebreaker.

A brainbuster and swanton was enough to score the win for El Extrano.

It was quick, but fine. Extrano did a great job at keeping reference to the injured knee throughout. There was a sweet enziguri counter with TMH grabbing the leg of El Extrano in mid-kick that was so quick and smooth that it seemed to be missed by the crowd because it was very nice.

Taylor Rae & Tommy Fierce defeated Sami Sparx & Maisie McGee by pinfall.

Sami Sparx wanted little to do with Tommy Fierce following the opening exchanges, tagging in Maisie McGee to slap Fierce in the face. Tommy tagged in Taylor Rae who traded near falls with McGee.

A bit of taunting brought Fierce in to be held back by the referee which allowed Sparx and McGee to double team Rae. Taylor got away from McGee to crawl over and tag Tommy, who got his hands on Sami Sparx with a jumping neckbreaker, cartwheel forearm, and a corner basement meteora.

Maisie McGee rammed Fierce into the ring post, with her celebration being interrupted by a vicious Taylor Rae turning McGee around for an Unprettier. Sparx rushed towards Rae, who ducked the clothesline and caught Sami with an Unprettier as well and scrambled over to get the three count.

A lot can happen in five minutes and they packed as much as they could. Taylor Rae is improving, and showed a lot of energy to try and keep a flow in her moves. Maisie had a case of slippery hands at times where she wasn’t quite finishing off things but showed confidence.

Tommy and Sami held the structure in place to create a solid match.

The Big Strong Man defeated Mikey Devine by pinfall.

I love how much Mikey Devine chews up the scenery when he’s a villain, it’s proper panto levels but he eats it up and encourages it to get louder and louder. The baldy chants were high along with the support for The Big Strong Man.

BSM frustrated Devine with counters and unique escapes. Mikey endured being crotched on the top rope for some testicular torture that even referee Sean Moran was drawn into participating in.

Devine leapt high to avoid a Big Strong Spear that sent BSM head first into the second turnbuckle, Mikey went to work on the Big Strong Back with a hard Irish Whip and abdominal stretch that had him in control for a minute. BSM escaped with a hip toss and started throwing Mikey Devine around.

A Big Strong Spear finished the match.

It was a holiday camp match, as in the villain looked a bit silly with a bunch of crowd pleasing antics that saw the hero win. The crowd in Rutherglen loved it and were entertained. It was one sided but held the attention of the audience.

APW SlavCore Championship – Stan The Slav King defeated Magic Dave by TKO to retain.

Magic Dave tried to start with a card trick but Stan wasn’t for partaking in the mystic arts and slapped the deck to cause a game of 52 card pick up. An angered Dave launched himself at Stan for a brawl.

While Dave was wanting to get the match going, Stan spent more time outside the ring postulating. Magic Dave took down Stan upon his return until an eye rake gave the Slav King the upper hand.

Stan grabbed a leather strap and despite Dave’s spirited forearms he ended up being whipped. Dave retreated to the corner and produced a magic wand from… somewhere. The distraction was enough to break the focus of Stan with him being pulled up from the ground into a belly to back suplex.

Dave locked in a Sharpshooter but Thatcher Wright and Barker arrived with a beaten Big Strong Man. While Magic Dave looked on, Milby arrived to powerbomb Dave to splat him to the mat. Stan took advantage, wrapping the strap around the neck of Magic Dave and wrenching back to make his last breath disappear.

It was a bit scrappy but I will say that Stan excels when he looks like he has a chip on his shoulder. It makes his offense look more focused and the ending sequence with the choke out made him look like a maniac.

APW Scottish Women’s Championship – Ashley Vega defeated Ellie Armstrong w/Abbie by pinfall to retain.

It didn’t take long for the match to spill to the outside with strikes being thrown back and forth. Thanks to a timely grab of the leg from Abbie to Ashley Vega, Ellie Armstrong hit a spinning wheel kick and zoned in on the left knee of Vega. Armstrong dominated, going back to the weakened joint at any opportunity, and knocking Ashley off balance with forearms to the jaw.

Vega rocked Ellie back with strikes but a missed kicked was spun into an Ellie To Belly for a near fall. It was back to the knee, Armstrong locked in a single leg crab as Ashley scratched and clawed her way to the bottom rope.

While referee Sean Moran was dealing with Ellie Armstrong after pulling her off Ashley Vega, Abbie jumped onto the apron to hold Vega in place. A malfunction at the junction caused Armstrong to crash into Abbie and stumble backwards into a Backcracker to see Ashley Vega retain the APW Scottish Women’s Championship.

It’s been a minute since I’ve seen Ashley Vega in singles action and this isn’t your modern day diva that would bounce around happy to be there, she showed a grit to keep coming back against a determined challenger. Ellie and Ashley worked well together to convey the wickedness of The Plant Based Powerhouse and intestinal fortitude of Vega.

Manky Frankie defeated Thatcher Wright by pinfall.

The love for Manky Frankie continues to fill the Glencairn venue when his music hits. The crowd loved Frankie and hated Thatcher Wright with every fibre of their being.

Frankie got the better of the lock up but, after a trip into the crowd, Thatcher managed to kick the ropes upon re-entry and put the boots to Manky Frankie. Thatcher had that much confidence in his position that he flicked through chapters of his book while driving his weight down on the lower back of his opponent.

It was third time unlucky with Frankie lifting himself up and piggy backing Wright into the corner. A big spinebuster had Thatcher seeing cartons of milk spinning around his head. Frankie went for some liquid encouragement to share with Thatcher but Wright lifted his literature to block the alky mist.

If at first you don’t succeed… Wright didn’t see the second spray coming which blinded him long enough to be hoisted for a Manky Bomb, with his eyes opening in time to see the lights.

Nick Justice rushed out to attack Frankie until The Wanderer made the save.

It’s undeniable that Manky Frankie is thee guy in Attitude Pro Wrestling, a relatable character for everyone to get behind, couple that with Thatcher Wright being all about spreading the word of pure evil it made the crowd atmosphere loud and there was no grey area, it was clear cut love for their hometown lad. Having The Wanderer making the save passed some extra endorsement onto him now being the old The Wanderer. Good stuff.

APW Scottish Future Championship – Six Man Scramble – Saqib Ali defeated SBX, Big Ross Hauser, Umar Mohammed, Bryan Mojo, and Butch Armstrong by pinfall to win the APW Scottish Future Championship.

Saqib Ali chose to strike first to give Big Ross a Codebreaker to send Hauser tumbling out of the ring. Ali went about trying to form an alliance with Umar Mohammed, with the pair taking out everyone one by one until Ross returned to run through them both.

Butch Armstrong and SBX sent Hauser back to the outside with a double clothesline, sidestepping a flying Bryan Mojo to then throw Mojo out onto the amassing bodies.

SBX and Armstrong had a good exchange but Big Ross played spoiler and knocked SBX down on the outside. Saqib entered to try and capitalise which sparked a run of big moves, a lariat by Big Ross Hauser, a Pedigree by SBX, Umar Mohammed delivered the Gory Bomb to Bryan Mojo but was bundled into the ring post by Ali, who stole the pin to take home the APW Scottish Future Championship.

It was messy with that many bodies coming in and about with everyone trying to get a minute to get a moment in. The match being bookended with Saqib Ali trying to get a team going with Umar Mohammed, and Ali throwing Mohammed out to sneak the win was very good.

APW Tag Team Championships – Three Way Elimination Tables Match – The Govan Team (Ravie Davie & Cousin Zander) defeated The Division (Barker & Milby), and VL-Halla (Thorin & E-Town) to retain.

It took a wee while to get started with it being Cousin Zander’s birthday, but The Division started hot by clattering The Govan Team with a table.

Thorin arrived to the match dressed as Zander, forming a team with a confused Ravie Davie to land a step up corner splash and dividing Barker’s legs to connect with a Wassup headbutt. Milby didn’t fair much better with E-Town and the real Cousin Zander coming together to cause damage. The match broke down, E-Town stole Ravie Davie’s hat, it was a whole thing.

A last second move of the table from Milby saved his team from elimination when VL-Halla’s double team flapjack just had Barker going face first on the canvas. Thorin and E-Town were soon gone thanks to The Division, a high tandem spinebuster drove Thorin through the wood to take out his team.

The Govan Team returned to the fray and after a bit of back and forth, Ravie Davie lifted Barker for a second turnbuckle powerbomb through a table to retain.

As a match it possibly could’ve been streamlined as there was a lull in the middle, with the noise from the audience becoming light chatter instead of investment in the match in front of them, and it felt disjointed. Milby had a strong showing, and The Govan Team continue to be a popular duo in Attitude Pro Wrestling.

APW Scottish Championship – Nick Justice defeated The Wanderer by TKO to retain.

Nick Justice took a quick breather after the bell, before being subjected to The Wanderer wandering over his back and sending Justice out to the front row.

Despite being victim to a child being used as a battering ram, Justice turned the tide but after spending too much time scowling at the audience, The Wanderer got back on top momentarily. It took Justice trying to use Sean Moran as a human shield to counter a top turnbuckle dive, causing The Wanderer to stop short and have his eyes gouged by the champion.

Justice kept The Wanderer in order and wore down the challenger as the chants for The Wanderer grew. The Wanderer absorbed the chants to lift Justice overhead and gather some momentum with a double axe handle from the top turnbuckle catching a two count.

With Justice reeling, The Wanderer set up for a cutter but Thatcher Wright marched out to find himself at the wrong end of one outta nowhere. Stan The Slav King arrived and ran into being tossed overhead with an Attitude Adjustment, Justice hit a Michinoku Driver for another near fall, and in the fracas The Wanderer ended up colliding with the referee.

The champion produced a pair of handcuffs but The Wanderer fought back to connect with a Rock Bottom. His attempt at The People’s Elbow was interrupted by Thatcher Wright clunking The Wanderer with his hardback and Stan returned with a Vodka Shot running knee. Justice piledrove The Wanderer and locked in a Rear Naked Choke to have The Wanderer’s chance at taking home the gold fade away.

CMND/CTRL attacked The Wanderer post-match until Manky Frankie rushed out to make the save, giving Stan the Manky Bomb, and The Wanderer finishing the night by delivering The Wanderer’s Elbow.

A post-match hype for Ruggy Mania closed the show.

The night ended with a solid main event to further reiterate the change in heart from The Wanderer, and root CMND/CTRL as the new big bad in Attitude Pro Wrestling. The match was decent, and did what it needed to do in adding an edge to the upcoming Ruggy Mania main event between Nick Justice and Manky Frankie.

Overall it was an evening of entertainment, it drove a couple stories forward but it was, at it’s core, a night of fundraising and providing a fun night of wrestling action for a good cause.
