In the final part of ArdlerMania Aftermath, Fair City Wrestling backloaded the event with two championship matches featuring two of the new champions coming out of ArdlerMania.
This week’s episode of FCW Empire opened with Red Gate making their spooky entrance against the unlikely duo that dispatched DE to reign as the FCW Tag Team Champions, Caleb Valhalla and ADM, The Mighty Killers.
FCW Tag Team Championships – The Mighty Killers (Caleb Valhalla & ADM) vs Red Gate (SAMUEL & Valek) w/Tommy Cross & Eden ended in a no contest. The Mighty Killers retained.
SAMUEL and Valek tried to get the jump on the champions before the bell, only for Caleb and ADM to get the upper hand to send Red Gate in retreat to the outside.
Eden quickly let her presence known to scurl and distract Valhalla to give her charges the chance to sneak in and isolate mighty Caleb in the Red Gate corner.
The Red Gate duo took turns to put a beatdown on Caleb Valhalla, but they couldn’t keep the Viking God down, finding themselves being flung overhead in counter to a double team suplex in order bring ADM back into the fold.
ADM swung the clotheslines, and impressively hoisted SAMUEL up for a vertical neckbreaker. It was Tommy Cross’ turn to get involved which was enough for Valek and SAMUEL to try and trap ADM like a moth in a bath.
A Claymore Kick allowed for ADM to drag himself over and tag Caleb Valhalla back into the action who went about throwing everyone around, even chucking Valek into SAMUEL via a back suplex.
The Mighty Killers has it all going their way, an ADM buckle bomb to SAMUEL was followed by a spear from Valhalla as the count was made. Before Chris Quinn could slap his hand down for a third time, Valek knocked Quinn out with a stomp to the end to descend the match into anarchy.
It was Red Gate in numbers, Eden found herself at the receiving end of an ADM big boot after dishing out the open hand slaps, while Tommy Cross brought a chair in. Valhalla slammed the metal across the spine of Tommy to leave the four competitors standing and facing each other from either side of the ring.
Referee Chris Quinn awoke from his involuntary slumber to call the match a no contest. The call seemed to be the signal that all bets were off as The Mighty Killers fought the full force of Red Gate to the back.
A really solid match. ADM and Caleb have a handle on their respective characters and roles within the match. It allowed Valek and SAMUEL to let their opponents handle the crowd while they got to concentrate on the in-ring. It worked, the support for The Mighty Killers was in force and they fed off that to heighten the drama.
DAPW Championship – Sami Sparx defeated Oliver Green by pinfall.
Despite Sami Sparx being the Chaotic Luchador, it was Oliver Green bringing the chaos to rush at the DAPW Champion with a shotgun dropkick to put Sparx on the back foot.
Sparx fired back with a series of strikes and a standing Moonsault to send Green rolling to the outside. Sami couldn’t wait to get a hold of the challenger but it lead him to being in a prone position upon re-entering the ring that Oliver Green pounced on to put the boots to Sparx.
Green took control, keeping Sami grounded, and turning attempts to counter in his favour. Sami got an opening to land a peach of a Falcon Arrow for a near fall, his momentum was soon halted following a missed second rope Moonsault had Sami watching the knee of Oliver Green colliding with his face.
Sami stayed in the fight which frustrated Green into throwing the Luchador to the outside in disgust. Oliver picked his moments while Sparx writhed in pain. The dismantling of Sami was meticulous by Green.
As the crowd support got louder, Sami goaded Oliver to keep throwing the strikes. Sparx managed to get back to his feet to connect with a cutter outta nowhere to level the playing field.
Both men slowly got back to their feet by exchanging forearms, Sami got the better of the back and forth but his venture to the top turnbuckle was thwarted and Sparx found himself having a bumpy landing from a fireman’s carry shoulder breaker to catch a two count.
With ideas running in short supply, Oliver grabbed a chain, but it was a swing and miss. Sami grabbed the chain as he considered using it, but he eventually dropped the weapon to keep the match fair and square.
The Skyripper landed two Cannonballs in the corner but Sami evaded a third. Green was still kicking, booting the knee of Sparx and locking in a submission. Sami held on to lift Oliver Green up and down with a sit out powerbomb. Sami rolled Green back and transferred him into a double underhook and sent Oliver to the canvas with a Pedigree to get the three and retain the title.
A very good main event, the fans were invested in Sami Sparx overcoming the despicable Oliver Green. The match was kept simple and maximised those reactions to tell the story. Sami refusing to use the chain was a great confirmation of his change of heart and embracing of being a fan favourite. It all worked well.
Overall an enjoyable episode of FCW Empire, the matches didn’t feel long and made use of their time well to keep the pace and story of a top quality.
