Following the surprise conclusion to All On The Line 2, PWR PRO returned to Tillicoultry for a bit of trouble.
We started things outside where Sonny Shine was catching Daisy Jenkins, who was on edge due to the late arrival of Aerin Taylor. It’s been a slow burn but I’m all in on seeing the journey built to Daisy Jenkins eventually snap and with each passing promo and match, you can feel the desperation for order and her dependence on a support network that will inevitably be heartbreaking to watch her finally give in and turn supernova. There’s a lot of good things happening in Scottish wrestling right now and this is flying under the radar, Daisy Jenkins is outstanding with Aerin Taylor being perfect as the pure and innocent friend trying to keep Jenkins grounded.
PWR PRO Women’s Championship – Daisy Jenkins w/Aerin Taylor defeated KT Mills by pinfall to retain.
KT Mills had the power advantage that Daisy seemed to relish in testing the waters and coming back for seconds and thirds.
Daisy fed off the energy from the crowd to build up momentum and agility to knock Mills off her feet via a headscissor.
Mills got hold of a flying Daisy Jenkins to fling her overhead with a Fallaway Slam as Jenkins found herself rolling out to the floor from the impact.
The Polynesian Powerhouse slowly picked apart The Starlight, letting Daisy squirm in pain between beatings. A Uranage from KT Mills saw her follow up pin being kicked out at one that looked to be more out of instinct.
Jenkins fought back with forearms to rock KT Mills, managing a running bulldog and her striking combination for a near fall. Daisy connected with the 619 but her advantage was short lived when she ran into a reverse STO, followed by a Boss Man Slam, but Jenkins held on to raise her shoulder once more.
The challenger headed up the turnbuckle, Aerin Taylor rushed in to try and protect Daisy but was thrown out of the ring. With the referee, and KT Mills, distracted by Aerin it gave Jenkins time to turn Mills around for the Supernova. Taylor begged the referee to make the pin but it was too late to grab the three as KT kicked out in time.
A pumphandle slam was attempted by Mills but Daisy slipped out to get a roll up to retain the PWR PRO Women’s Championship.
After the win it looked like Daisy looked at, then ignored Aerin in order to retrieve her title from the referee.
My goodness Daisy Jenkins is one of the best around for conveying emotion and adding layers to every second she has to tell a story. KT Mills was a solid challenger to come in and be a big strong menace to both allow for the David versus Goliath dynamic and to also add to the concern Aerin was able to show that further adds to this bubbling undercurrent waiting to explode.
A very good match.
Sonny Shine tried to catch up with Daisy backstage where we saw a hidden exchange of Jenkins condescending Aerin, essentially giving her a row. Taylor left upset, with Shine entering the scene for Daisy to gaslight her way through a chat. It came down to Daisy suggesting a public discussion with Aerin at the next Truth event.
That surely can’t end well…
Before the next match we got a video of a confused Sonny Shine watching Tommy Kartel being “alphas” with Tristan Haggarty. The pair shilled the Alpha range of products, along with Tommy’s merch.
Tommy Kartel w/Tristan Haggarty defeated Tallon Jr by pinfall.
Kartel got the better of the opening knuckle lock while Tommy kept control he still had time to keep his mouth moving to give Tallon Jr and the referee a piece of his mind. Tallon Jr countered out for a stalemate as both men sized each other up to go at it again.
Tallon Jr refused a handshake to start striking at Kartel that took the former PWR PRO Heavyweight Champion aback. Tristan Haggarty got up on the apron to hilariously cower when Tallon Jr balled his fist and pulled back. His methods might’ve been unorthodox but it was enough for Tommy Kartel to regain the upper hand.
Tommy dominated Tallon Jr, keeping the pressure on the masked man. Tristan kept getting involved with a second rope choke but his arrogance led to Tallon Jr tripping Kartel into the rope to receive a choke of his own in error.
A bloody Tommy Kartel stopped the momentum of The Winged Emperor with a catch from a springboard crossbody to drive Tallon Jr down with a spinebuster that was enough for an Alpha sized victory.
The arrogance Tommy Kartel exudes makes him both impressive in the ring but also super irritating as a character. Which is the right reaction. He’s justified in what he says, backs up his words, but he’s so cocky about it that you can’t support it. It makes him a total package wrestler. Tallon Jr showed a lot of spirit and I hope this is the time we get an extended wingspan from Tallon Jr as he has such raw potential waiting to fly.
PWR PRO Heavyweight Championship – Frank Gallo w/Ross Hunter defeated Patty by submission to retain.
There were no crowd splits with the crowd 100% behind the PWR PRO prodigy. Patty took a chance to dive through the ropes to knock down Ross Hunter but his fire was quickly extinguished once Frank Gallo saw an opening, thanks in part to a mauling from Hunter at ringside.
Gallo went about calmly dismantling Patty, using the extra man at ringside to his advantage by occupying the referee and allowing Ross Hunter to get his digs in.
Frank continued to neutralise the youthful exuberance of Patty but that energy was hard to short circuit with Patty building a head of steam to land a Famouser. Gallo was quick to grab Patty for a Regal Plex to put the lad back to the mat.
The crowd got louder behind Patty, who absorbed a brutal release Tiger Bomb to the upper back. Gallo made an error from the second rope to eat a cutter to leave him prone for a Moonsault.
Ross Hunter jumped onto the apron that gave enough time for Frank to recover and roll away from the aerial attack. Gallo pounced to lock on a submission for the tap out to retain.
Hunter and Gallo continued to beat down Patty after the bell until Tallon Jr rushed out with a chair to make the save.
A highly competitive title defence. The shift in demeanour from being unhinged to this calculated throwback of destruction from Frank Gallo has changed the landscape of PWR PRO. He used his opponents flexibility against them to twist and torque to cause maximum torture.
Having Ross Hunter at ringside like a feral pitbull heightened this final boss aura that Frank has produced. Patty had his moments but Gallo was clinical in using the advantages he brought to the match to coldy punish Patty and walk out with his prized possession over his shoulder.
Backstage Tallon Jr and Patty put out the challenge for The Concept at the next event.
PWR PRO Tag Team Championships – Modern Culture (Zachary Swift & Umar Mohammed) defeated Sean Summers & Josh Adams by pinfall to retain.
Umar Mohammed had headlock takeovers for days but Sean Summers wriggled his way out. Summers frustrated Mohammed with a loop of wrist lock kips ups which was incredibly athletic.
The frustration wasn’t just reserved for Umar, with Sean ducking and diving to leave Zachary Swift swinging punches at fresh air.
Summers tagged in Josh Adams to get a piece of the action, with the plucky underdogs isolating Swift for a rare stretch of disadvantage for Modern Culture.
A rake to the eyes from Zachary to Josh had the challengers come undone with Swift tagging in Mohammed as Modern Culture went about thrashing the untested pair.
Adams caught a near fall with a dropkick as he kept moving long enough to reach out to Sean Summers who ran wild as the match started to become a scrap with each man trying to add an exclamation point.
Modern Culture got a handle on things to drive Sean Summers to the canvas with the Gory Bomb-elevated Bulldog concoction to extend their reign as PWR PRO Tag Team Champions.
This was interesting in that we started to see a weak link in Modern Culture, with Zachary Swift being a liability at times with Umar having to bully his way through to reset the match into their favour. That being said, that unpredictability that Swift provided also made him become this feral commodity to scratch and claw to get ahead.
Mohammed and Swift continue to present this ability to get across their individuality but couple it with well worked tandem chemistry.
Sean Summers was an excellent inclusion, his positivity brought out a good amount of expression from Josh Adams who showed some reservation in the early going but once he settled in he allowed himself to relax and give in to the match for a commendable debut.
Shine grabbed a word from Modern Culture who recounted their victories as PWR PRO Tag Team Champions before declaring that they were going to take a little holiday while PWR PRO can find them a challenge.
Andy Roberts defeated Jason Reed by pinfall.
Jason Reed took his time to get the match under way but once he did he was soon on his backside from a shoulder tackle and sent back to the outside to think again.
It was a repeated exchange, with Reed volunteering to return to the barricades at ringside to recoup. Jason struggled to get anything going, suffering chops and clotheslines, with his escape plan finally coming fruitful by suckering Roberts to the ropes to be hung up for The Staunch Superstar to turn the tables.
Reed loosened the turnbuckle pads to keep the referee’s eyes off the ball and to use his wrist tape to choke Andy Roberts. A desperate back elbow from Roberts created a chance that Reed wasn’t going to let build to once again head out of ring.
Roberts was in pursuit with the fight heading all around the Devonvale Hall.
Andy dragged Reed for a full tour of the venue, to the merch tables, and even up close and personal with the kids in the crowd leathering the tanned chest of Jason Reed.
Once the action return to between the ropes, Reed was able to throw Roberts from the top turnbuckle and threw tired forearms to the side of the head of Andy Roberts. Roberts fired back with strikes of his own and took down Reed with a belly to belly slam. The big splash that came after could only garner a two count.
A Vader Bomb was countered for Jason Reed to deliver an impressive powerbomb with both men showing the effects that the match was having. They slugged fists back and forth, Roberts brought the European uppercuts, and Reed returned with a kick to the stomach.
The exchange of heavy hits couldn’t separate the two, a sit out Tiger Bomb from Andy Roberts, two count. A spinebuster and Angle Slam from Jason Reed, two count.
Finally Roberts got a boot up to halt a charging Jason Reed, Andy didn’t hesitate to climb to the second turnbuckle and land the Vader Bomb to snatch the main event win,
A high quality main event, the continued roll outs from Jason Reed got the crowd just annoyed just enough to maximise their excitement to see Andy come out to start punching Reed around the place. It got meaty in places, with Roberts being the overwhelmingly popular winner to close the show.
Another excellent event from PWR PRO in the books. Everything had a place on the card from the Daisy Jenkins-Aerin Taylor masterpiece that continues to unfold, to The Concept duo of Frank Gallo and Ross Hunter showcasing their new attitudes. Modern Culture showed some shakiness for the first time in my memory but ultimately still retained to further cement their stranglehold on the PWR PRO tag team division, while the new team in town of Tommy Kartel and Tristan Haggarty showed some teething problems but got the result required.
The main event was the only match to not have an obvious plot point but I read it as Andy Roberts using Jason Reed as a testing ground for the previously announced and upcoming bout with Mark Coffey while Jason Reed was looking to play spoiler but making Roberts have to stop start over and over in the hopes to get Andy just rattled enough to make a mistake.
PWR PRO continue to knock it out of the park with their events. The crowd in Tillicoultry were on fine form to enjoy some professional wrestling, which further elevated the action in the ring. A great event.
