British Championship Wrestling hosted another sell out show at the Ballerup Hall in East Kilbride on the 12th June. The difference from this and previous sell out shows was that this was sold out long in advance, a prime example of the fine events that this company continues to present.

Before the first match, BCW Owner, Graham Mckay took to the ring and dedicated this event to the late great Dusty Rhodes, a testament to the man for everything he has done in his amazing career.

Then he announced that BCW will be joined by WWE Hall of Famer, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and TNA Superstar, Mr Anderson as well as announcing that Lionheart will face Drew Galloway August 28th show at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock.

And finally, he thanked two fantastic fans who had been going to BCW for 15 years by paying for the transportation and front row seats to the next event.

BCW Openweight Championship: Kenny Williams (c) vs Damo O’Connor

Williams seized control of the BCW Openweight Championship title at the April 4th BCW show in a fantastic Fatal Four-Way bout overcoming Noam Dar, Liam Thomson & Davey Blaze. Afterwards, he vowed in front of the sold out crowd to defend that Championship against anyone. Little did he know, his next challenger would come in the size of the monstrous Damo O’Connor.

From the start of the bout O’Connor tried to used to his size to keep control of the smaller champion with stiff shoulder blocks. Williams then using his speed and quickness, fought back rocking the challenger by hitting two running dropkicks knocking Damo to the outside and with a suicide dive through the ropes.

The raw power of O’Connor once again showed as he ruthlessly took control of the match as the battle went to the floor, punishing Williams with shots to the ring post and clubbing blows to the back. The champion regained his momentum when O’Connor aimed for Williams with a mistimed shoulder charge that saw him connect with the turnbuckle. From there, he struck with a series of running forearms that hit the mark.

The two traded the advantage to the finale of the match to keep the fans consistently guessing on who would be the winner but in the end it would O’Connor missing the destructive big boot and Williams finisher of a tilt-a-whirl DDT to gain the victory.

BCW Tag Team Championship: Just Uz (BT Gunn & Stevie Xavier) (c) vs The Proven (Caz Crash & Sam Wilder)

Making their BCW début, The Proven’s Caz Crash & Sam Wilder have shown that they fear no team and have made it no secret that they intended to be the ones who take the BCW Tag Team Championship when the head back down south.

On the other hand BT Gunn & Stevie Xavier of Jut Uz appeared to develop communication problems in recent months that almost set to separate the team when they were in a Triple Threat Match with Kid Fite for the BCW Championship. However, they overcame Jonny Storm & Jody Fleisch at the last event with no major issues left fans wondering if would they see the tag team champions united again.

The bout started fast and furious with Just Uz taking the advantage as both members of the Proven were distracted by the crowd, Xavier leapt over the ropes knocking them down. Gunn and Xavier demonstrated exactly why they have held the Tag Team Championships for so long with fantastic tag team co-ordination and an aggressive streak.

The Proven weren’t beaten yet as they continued to show why they deserved their championship shot, singling out Xavier as they worked over his back looking to set him up for their finisher.

But the night belonged to Just Uz as The Proven looked to finish the match, Xavier and Gunn struck with a double thrust kick to gain the win, retain the Tag Team Championship and leave the fans happy.

Hardcore Match: Jack Jester vs Bram

Two hardcore legends. Both brutal. Both destructive. Both dangerous.

These two men proved from the moment the bell rang that this no disqualification match was best suited for each as they attacked each other before they entered the ring. The two brawled through the fans, to the merchandising stand, even to the Irn Bru freezer as plastic bins and freezer doors were all weapons to be used as they jousted for position.

The two continued to fight all over the hall as fans looked on with excitement before they entered the ring and it appeared Jester had control. This proved to be short-lived as Bram once again and showed why he is known for being brutal as he fought back this time attempting to use his chain.

The two men excelled in the hardcore match as both fought over Bram’s chain and Jester’s corkscrew, though both men would end up feeling the brunt of the chain. However, in this physically exhausting match for the men involved and emotionally draining for the fans watching the match, it would be Jester who would take the win, to leave the fans happy and Bram bitter.

Noam Dar & Grado vs Davey Blaze & Red Lightning

During the last show in Kilmarnock, fans where stunned to see there fan favourite Davey Blaze attacking his then friend Kenny Williams after Williams managed to capture the Openweight Championship in the four way battle that Blaze was part of. There were words that it wasn’t just frustration that was the cause of this attack but a new attitude portrayed by Blaze that may have been caused by his tag team partner, the manipulative Red Lightning.

At the beginning of the match, Dar and Grado had the fans cheering with delight as play acted and toyed with their opponents, consistently causing them frustrations as they were attempting to ruin the fun that the fan favourites were having.

It appeared that every time Blaze and Lightning attempted to change the tone of the match into a serious one, Dar and Grado would easily reverse it, and this was proven when Blaze who prides himself using his power in matches couldn’t lift Grado, mainly due to the fact Dar was holding him down. It appeared to be a tour-de-force from Dar and Grado as Dar connected with the running dropkick on Lighting as he slumped in the corner and Grado hit his roll ‘n’ slice shortly after.

The fun would temporary end as Blaze and Lightning showed that they’re as dangerous as they are deceitful, when the referee’s back was turned, they would exploit any situation they could and came very close to defeating their counterparts.

During the fray the referee was knocked down, Blaze and Lighting brought weapons in. Dar and Grado not to be outdone, brought weapons in as well. As the referee recovered, through the confusion, the team that would stand tall would be Dar and Grado, the Bumbag Supernova.

Wolfgang vs Aaron Echo

Aaron Echo has certainly made an impression with the fans of BCW this year. The thing is, it’s not always been a positive one. Battling Kenny Williams earlier in the year, he showed that he will not always play by the rules. At the last event, he interfered in Wolfgang’s match with Mark Coffey costing him the win. Further more, he called out Wolfgang on YouTube to a match that the fan favourite (and a fantastic representative of Scottish Wrestling) accepted.

The match started slow as Echo attempted to unsettle the dynamic Wolfgang by calling on hair-pulling techniques, using the ropes and delaying the match by rolling out to the floor. The ploy appeared to be working as anytime Wolfgang would gain the advantage, Echo would find a counter.

Echo began concentrating his assault on Wolfgang’s back with abdominal stretches and Irish whips to the turnbuckle and it was clear this was taking it’s toll on the veteran but he would fight back to turn the tables on his opponent.

Startling the fans, Echo showed his resilience by striking with a superplex from the top turnbuckle to gain a near fall. From there the battle drew to a conclusion after Wolfgang fought back to strike hard with a big boot to the face, a devastating powerbomb and then quickly gaining the submission with the Texas Cloverleaf.

Wolfgang defeated Aaron Echo by submission.

BCW Heavyweight Championship: Kid Fite (c) Vs Bubblegum

For over two years, one man has cast a shadow over BCW. Since defeating Lionheart for the BCW Championship during March 2013 he has ruthlessly, maliciously and calculatingly done everything in his power to keep the companies most prestigious championship within his grasp. Defeating some of the best the wrestling world has to offer, names including Fergal Devitt, Drew Galloway, Davey Richards, Paul London and both members of tag team champions, Just Uz. That man is Kid Fite.

On this night, his challenger is one of the most successful and best all round wrestlers south of the border, Bubblegum. This year alone, Bubblegum has defeated a wide range of amazing talents including mainstream wrestling star, Matt Hardy.

From the start, Bubblegum was fast to attack, launching himself at the champion and gaining control of the beginning of the match. The fans were fast to cheer for the challenger who’s dynamic array of offence captured their attention and that of the champion’s immediately. Fite looked to be overwhelmed by the flawless fluidity that saw the challenger make every move connect.

But there is a reason why Fite has remained champion for so long and it because he is able to seize any opportunity to take an advantage. During this match, Bubblegum gained a near fall and as he questioned the referee, Fite struck. Furiously and viscously he targeted Bubblegum’s leg and then worked over his back. The challenger wasn’t beaten as the match went to the outside as Bubblegum struck a destructive running dropkick on the champion as he was placed on a chair, that in turn gained another near fall.

As the match drew to a close, it was Bubblegum on the offensive as he attempted a running dropkick on Fite but accidentally caught the referee. With no referee in sight Fite struck with the back suplex in the turnbuckle and followed up with his finisher. It was then Lou King Sharp in referee’s gear, counted a fast three count to gain the victory for Fite.

The night wasn’t over for Sharp as he gloated to the crowd at his achievement, Bubblegum hit a modified dropkick on the ropes to leave him realising there a consequences for interfering in this match.

Kid Fite defeated Bubblegum to retain the BCW Heavyweight Championship.
