WrestleZone are set to host the 2017 Halloween Hijinx tomorrow night, live from the Kincorth Community Centre. With that, I’m going to take a look at my five favourite matches from past events.

Honourable mentions;
Undisputed WrestleZone Championship: Johnny Lions (c) vs Bingo Ballance (Halloween Hijinx 2012)
Handicap Match: Crusher Craib vs Sterling Oil (Damien & The Sterling Brothers (Alan Sterling & William Sterling)) (Halloween Hijinx 2012)
Scotty Swift vs Johnny Lions (Halloween Hijinx 2013)

5. Damien vs Johnny Lions (Halloween Hijinx 2016)

Kicking of the list is a match between two bitter rivals from last year’s show as Damien faced Johnny Lions. After declining the offer to join Sterling Oil at the start of the year, The Tenacious One had a tough test ahead of him against The Revolutionary. Damien controlled the majority of the contest, but when Lions connected with a huge Lion Cutter only for Richard R. Russell to put Damien’s foot on the ropes to stop the pinfall. As Johnny went for Triple R, it allowed Damien to nail his signature Flying Codebreaker for the three count. The rivalry between these two went on for another eight months, finally culminating at Aberdeen Anarchy this past June.

4. Undisputed WrestleZone Championship: Crusher Craib (c) vs Aspen Faith (Halloween Hijinx 2014)

On to Halloween Hijinx 2014 now, as Crusher Craib put his Undisputed Championship on the line against “The King of Catch” Aspen Faith. Both men dressed up for the occasion, with Craib wearing one of his signature masks and Faith dressing up in what reminded me of a tennis player. An evenly played out match, with Crusher using his brute strength and Aspen utilising many different submission holds. As he locked in a koji clutch, Aspen’s then-valet KT Kane pulled the ropes away from Craib only to be stopped by Aspen’s rival earlier in the year and British wrestling legend Len Ironside. The distraction allowed Crusher to use a schoolboy rollup for the three count to retain the title once again.

3. Undisputed WrestleZone Championship: Crusher Craib (c) vs Damian O’Connor (Halloween Hijinx 2013)

The second of two Crusher Craib matches on the list, with his Undisputed Championship defence against current NXT star Damian O’Connor in 2013. The Creator of Carnage had a mighty task ahead of him on this night, with The Beast of Belfast being his first proper big task since winning the gold at Aberdeen Anarchy 2013 (unless you think Richard R. Russell is a worthy contender). These two absolutely destroyed each other with no-one giving up. In the end, Craib performed two Big Boots to the jaw of O’Connor to pick up the win and retain his title.

2. Triple Threat Tornado Tag Team Match for the WrestleZone Tag Team Championships: Revolution (Damien & Johnny Lions) (c) vs The Thunder Buddies (Blue Thunder & William Sterling) vs Bryan Tucker (Halloween Hijinx 2014)

Up next is a huge Triple Threat Tornado Tag Team Match as Revolution put their Tag Team Titles on the line against The Thunder Buddies and The Granite City Hotshots’ Bryan Tucker. Tucker decided to go in alone after being presented with a few options following his partner Shawn Johnson being injured by Revolution. This was a fantastic tag match with all five men putting in the effort. An excellent spot came when Sterling and Thunder attempted to suplex Damien off the ring apron and through the commentary tables at ringside, only for Johnny Lions to push them both off the apron and through the tables. Back in the ring, Revolution took control over Bryan Tucker as Damien grabbed the gold and gloated at ringside. This could never end well, and it didn’t as Tucker performed a Twist of Fate to Lions to win the gold for The Granite City Hotshots.

1. Undisputed WrestleZone Championship: Scotty Swift (c) vs Andy Wild (Halloween Hijinx 2016)

Coming in at number one is the main event of Halloween Hijinx 2016, as Scotty Swift defended the Undisputed Championship against “Unstoppable” Andy Wild. The Red Haired Warrior had been on top of WrestleZone since May 23rd 2015, 525 days heading in to the show. After Andy won a 10-man Battle Royal two weeks prior in Kincorth, the Englishman had been on top form during 2016. Wild was in control for the majority of the match, however Swift was able to get in some offence. That was until Andy connected with a Wildest Driver. The referee counted to three and the fans fell silent in shock. After a monumental 525 days, Scotty Swift’s title reign was over.

With matches such as Shawn Johnson vs Damien and Sammii Jayne vs Debbie Sharpe, I can imagine a few more candidates for this list in the future. Tickets are available from www.ringsideworld.co.uk while fans can also pay at the door on the night. Doors are open at 6:30pm and the action gets underway at 7pm.
