Another month passed, another Wrestlers of the Month list to type. Although May wasn’t exactly the biggest month for shows from Scottish promotions with the exception of a few, there were a number of our talents that competed/were announced to be appearing in some of the world’s biggest companies. Let’s take a look at how May shaped up for these 10 Scottish wrestlers!

Honourable mentions go out to Aaron Echo, Aspen Faith, Austin Osiris, BT Gunn, Chris Renfrew, Christopher Saynt, David Devlin, Dickie Divers, Dylan Angel, Jack Jester, Jack Morris, JD Wilde, Kay Lee Ray, Khifie West, Kieran Kelly, Lewis Girvan, Lucha DS, Michael Chase, Prince Asad, Sha Samuels, Stevie Boy, Theo Doros, and Wolfgang

May10Damien

10. Damien

May 2018 will go down as the best month of Damien’s career as he represented WrestleZone in the 2018 Drew Galloway Invitational Tournament in Glasgow. Night 1 saw him pin GPWA’s Soldato, while night 2 saw The Revolutionary make it to the finals. He defeated GPWA’s Austin Osiris by TKO and ended his almost 500 day undefeated streak in the process, before he pinned another GPWA star in Jack Dillon during the semifinals. The finals saw him fall at the feet of Irving Garrett as The Bone Collector did what he does best and made another opponent tap out.

May10IrvingGarrett

9. Irving Garrett

Making his debut on the list is Drew Galloway Invitational Tournament winner Irving Garrett. After submitting Source Wrestling School’s Craig Anthony on night 1, Garrett moved ahead to night 2. Here, he submitted Source Wrestling’s Grant McIvor and then PBW Academy’s Prince Asad, he cemented his place in the finals. There, he forced Damien to tap out, meaning he now has the opportunity to challenge Kieran Kelly for the Scottish X Championship on June 9th.

May10MarkCoffey

8. Mark Coffey

Mark Coffey started his month off in Liverpool for TNT Extreme Wrestling’s Supreme Extreme event, where he and Polo Promotions partner Jackie Polo lost to The MOB, the team of Keith Myatt and Ruffneck as part of the World Tag Wars tournament. Two days later, he and Jackie retained their PWE Tag Team Championships by defeating The Govan Team but they lost the gold to The Kinky Party later that night. Polo Promotions returned to Discovery Wrestling to close out the first weekend of May, defeating the Target Wrestling pairing of Shady Nattrass and Josh Terry. Two weeks later and Polo Promotions again teamed up, this time beating Lionheart and Sha Samuels, collectively The Kings of Leon for Target Wrestling. The following night, Mark pinned Lucha Underground’s Matt Cross to retain his ICW Zero-G Championship before a match with his brother Joe was signed for night 2 of Shug’s Hoose Party 5.

May10Viper

7. Viper

Following one hell of an April, Viper returns to the list with another phenomenal month. Kicking things off with a historic match at Pro Wrestling: EVE’s Wrestle Queendom event with a loss to Japanese icon Aja Kong. The Vixen of Violence returned to FutureShock Wrestling the following week at their Uproar 100 event, teaming with Lana Austin and Shax to beat The Queen Bees trio of Molly Spartan, Jayla Dark, and Kasey Owens. Viper’s month came to an unfortunate early end as her and Sammii Jayne’s match for the ICW Women’s Championship ended due to injury to both. Thankfully, Viper’s injury was nothing too serious and she seems to be cleared to compete again.

May10AndyWild

6. Andy Wild

Andy Wild continues his incredible 2018 with an appearance at Pro Wrestling Elite, losing to Lionheart after his original opponent Iestyn Rees was unable to make it to the show before he defeated Germany’s Bad Bones for Discovery Wrestling the next day. Two successful defences of the WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship came next, both against Bryan Tucker in Westhill and Ellon respectively, followed with a loss to RUDO Sports and Entertainment Brand’s Kenny Williams at ICW’s Ready Player Wan event to round off his month.

May10SammiiJayne

5. Sammii Jayne

Perhaps the best female wrestler in the UK today, Sammii Jayne continued her ride of momentum with a debut for Riptide Wrestling at the start of the month, although she suffered a loss at the hands of Chakara in a Triple Threat Match also including Sierra Loxton. The day after, The Main Event Empress lost her Pro Wrestling: EVE Championship to Charlie Morgan at Wrestle Queendom, losing one of her many titles. She did however manage to retain her Discovery Women’s Championship over Kasey to round off that weekend, and then also her OTT Women’s Championship over Valkyrie the next weekend at ScrapperMania IV. More championship success came the next weekend, with a defence of the MEW Women’s Championship over both Little Miss Roxxy and Gemini, before she returned to 3 Count Wrestling the next night. After defeating Little Miss Roxxy in the semifinals, Sammii then overcame Jetta to win a tournament to be crowned the inaugural 3CW Women’s Champion. Unfortunately, her ICW Women’s Championship challenge against Viper came to an end with her suffering a broken ankle. While she’s out for the next few months, you can support The Queen of Catch by buying a t-shirt or an 8×10 from her merch store. On the bright side, she was classed as the one to watch for May by Fighting Spirit Magazine!

May10DCT

4. DCT

May for DCT started with a defence of the Reckless Intent Heavyweight Championship over Michael Chase, before losing to indy darling Joey Ryan a day later. A change of attitude down in Reckless Intent Wrestling didn’t help him out, as he lost to Theo Doros 6 days later, meaning The Superior Cypriot now has an opportunity at the Heavyweight Championship this coming Saturday. At ICW the following weekend, he defeated Chris Renfrew to earn a future shot at the World Heavyweight Championship which he got the same night due to original challenger BT Gunn being injured. The Lone Striker was sadly unable to take the gold from Stevie Boy’s waist due to interference from the rest of The Filthy Generation. DCT will however get a second opportunity on night 2 of Shug’s Hoose Party 5, but he’ll have to leave the UK if he loses. Maybe that means he’ll be putting the ‘international’ in International Sex Hero to good use…

April10JoeCoffey

3. Joe Coffey

Joe Coffey kickstarted May with a tag team main event at Pro Wrestling Elite, teaming with 2018 Elite Rumble winner Kenny Williams to beat PWE Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry and Leyton Buzzard, and then retained the Y Division Championship over both BT Gunn and Aspen Faith for Discovery Wrestling the next day. After returning to ICW at the end of April, The Iron King made his first appearance in The Garage since November as he revealed himself to still be under contract to RUDO Sports and Entertainment Brand. During May, it was also announced that Joe will be one of 16 competitors in the 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. He’ll face Tucker in the first round at this year’s Download Festival next week.

May10JoeHendry

2. Joe Hendry

May was prestigious to say the least. It got off to a bad start, teaming with Leyton Buzzard in a losing effort to Joe Coffey and Kenny Williams at Pro Wrestling Elite, before making his return to 3 Count Wrestling two weeks later, teaming with Lucas Steel to beat Joseph Conners and Nathan Cruz. After unsuccessfully challenging Silas Young for the ROH World Television Championship during the Honor United Tour, it was revealed that Joe would be debuting for Impact Wrestling during their tapings in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on June 1st and 2nd. Wishing Joe all the best for this exciting venture!

Also worth mentioning Hendry challenged Rampage for the Defiant World Championship at Road to Destruction last night. The show will air this Saturday on Access Defiant and Fite TV, so tune in to see if The Prestigious One will win his second Defiant World Championship!

May10KennyWilliams

1. Kenny Williams

Kenny Williams began May with a win at Pro Wrestling Elite alongside Joe Coffey as they defeated Joe Hendry and Leyton Buzzard. A week and a bit later saw The Lucky Yin debuting for WWE on 205 Live, losing to Tyler Bate in a Fatal Four Way Match also including Kalisto and TJP. His last match of the month came at ICW’s Ready Player Wan, his first official night under the RUDO Sports and Entertainment Brand banner, where he defeated Andy Wild. During the month, Kenny was announced as an entrant in WWE’s United Kingdom Championship Tournament. His first round opponent will be Dave Mastiff.

Once again, May was a great period for our fantastic talent here in Scotland. We’re almost half-way through the year now, with the top of the points league being dominated by the same trio of Joe Hendry, Viper, and Sammii Jayne. Stay tuned at the end of June to see who will be top of the table as we enter the sixth month of Wrestlers of the Month!
