My ICW review is running late this week, when you make the mistake of having your parents over to stay for a week, it’s a mistake I’m not planning on doing for a while.
My second mistake is having my parents over then once they leave telling your wife you’re going to get caught up on all the weeks wrestling, just after she put up with her in-laws for a week! Not easy to do and when it’s ‘All In’ weekend makes getting everything watched was near impossible. This week I’ve been getting up at 6am each morning to get caught up before work and it’s bloody late when I type this!
But that’s enough about my non-problems as ICW have uploaded new content.
So here we are for Fight Club 99!
The Fite Network versus The Kinky Party with Grado
We start with a bit of a comedy match, which is not the way I want to start an event but this was in the mid card in the night of filming so the perfect place for it really. What’s not to like about this match up? It was every bit of fun that it was meant to be. This was a first for me as I’ve never seen a wrestler go to work with his pants down! But now I have! Thank you Lou King Sharp, and your hairless ass. Kid Fite helps to even out the comedy (with being a scary bastard) and Grado slaps the joy back into everyone’s lives. Is there anyone out there that does not love the KP? How can you not love Kinky Party and now with Grado, we get three KP Nuts, they’re fantastic together.
Kinky P win and every boy and girl in the world learn that you really can miss something you ever knew you wanted, may they be the Kinky threesome for a while.
Aaron Echo comes out telling all about not having a match, he offers up an open challenge to anyone that wants to answer the call. Out comes Red to let Aaron know that there is always room for him at Rudo. This feels like a good move for Aaron and one I would like to see him do.
Kay Lee Ray versus Lionheart
Now, I don’t know how I feel about inter-gender matches and I did enjoy this one. Now before I go any further, I don’t want anyone to get me wrong, I’m a big fan of women’s wrestling, for me there is no difference between female or male wrestling when nothing is held back, but when it’s Kay Lee Ray v Lionheart it’s really hard to feel good about it. I don’t know who wins, Kay was amazing from start to finish, and Lionheart has never failed to impress me but who wins? If Kay wins do we really believe that Lionheart can take down one of the Coffey’s? And if Lionheart wins I just feel bad for Kay Lee Ray.
The match was fast and well executed with many great hard hits, the match goes how I thought it would and ‘The Fanny’ wins.
I still feel that Kay Lee Ray is one of the best and she holds nothing back. After her loss, out comes Viper, she’s here to ask for Kay Lee Ray to fight her at The Hydro! (yes please) Viper gets the pop but Kay Lee Ray gives Viper the finger and walks off. Now I want to see Viper and Kay Lee Ray in a steel cage at The Hydro so my heart was lifted before getting smashed down.
At this point in the night we start to see an end for The Purge.
The Kings of Catch versus Chris Renfrew and his tag team partner
To start we have The Kings of Catch kicking the ever-loving sh*t out of Kieran Kelly, Chris Renfrew does not seem to care as BOOM… NAK is back! What we get next is a great brawl so fast that I can hardy remember what happened, it’s like getting punched in the face really quickly where you have no time to react but you can’t feel anything and you end up asking yourself “did I just get a wee pop in the chops?”
The match never gets started and is ended in a no contest. The problem is that both groups are super over and the crowd was chanting for The Kings of Catch more than The New Age Kliq! Which am sure was not the plan. They started by trying and make you dislike the boys by having them kill ‘Shotgun’ Kieran at the start but I did not really care, then they give me back my NAK which makes me very happy as I love me some Gunn (Not Shotgun, well he’s ok… well, was ok) but not against The Kings. If I was there that night I would have been yelling for NAK but I don’t have any real interest in seeing these groups fight as I love them both and no one wants to pick who’s house you stay at after your Mum and Dad gets divorced, do you? I want to see NAK go for the tag titles, but I want them to take them off The Kinky Party. Something big is cooking here.
The match of the night was Kay Lee Ray v Lionheart, as that lady gives her whole body to this sport of ours. In my mind, when I was watching, I just did not see it going any another direction which does pull you out of it, but good God, they took a few bumps in this one.
Fight Club 99 is an ok show, more story then wrestling was pushed this week, with Aaron having to think about career, The Purge looking like they’re quits and NAK reforming.
