World Wide Wrestling League are making their annual trip up north this weekend, once again stopping at The Bishopmill Hall in Elgin. A mere 3 minute (if the traffic is slow) drive from SWN Towers, which is always appreciated. Every year W3L turn it up a notch when they come up to Elgin, which is always good. A couple matches have been announced, appearances confirmed, all good stuff including a former WWE superstar.

I will, once again, be dragging several family members along for our annual jaunt to the wrasslin’. So let’s take a look at what’s in store:

W3L Heavyweight Championship – Mike Musso (c) vs Craig Stephens

Subject to Musso defending his title against Bobby Roberts in Edinburgh and whoever he faces in Glenrothes, the W3L Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when he faces Craig Stephens. Stephens and Musso have created quite the rivalry, it’s seen Stephens ram Musso’s head into a ring post at Seven Deadly Sins and Musso, in some circles of opinion, muscling his way into the main event at Wrestlution XIII, that included Craig Stephens, and leaving as W3L Heavyweight Champion.

I’m still imagining cracks beginning to show in Musso’s smiley persona, someone that is obsessed with being W3L Heavyweight Champion that he finds any way to be in the conversation for a title shot, or involved with the champion to keep a close eye on his ‘precious’ and now he has the title he will do anything to remain the champion, the top guy in W3L. Is this an overactive imagination or have I seen through Musso’s facade? Probably the former but I’ll be watching this one with great intrigue whilst twirling my moustache.

W3L Women’s Championship – Emily Hayden (c) vs ???

‘The Best, The Beautiful and The Only’, Emily Two Belts makes her Elgin return. The self proclaimed ‘Wrestlebeech’ hasn’t had her opponent confirmed as of writing and with a defence against familiar foe Anastasia at the start of the weekend, Hayden will have a busy weekend in store. A lot has changed for Hayden since her last appearance in Elgin, winning titles on both sides of the border and finding a new faction in The Sensational Scenebirds with Christopher Saynt and Darrell Costello. Hayden has been on an absolute tear in W3L, marking it in emphatic fashion by defeating Jayla Dark in her final match in Scotland before retirement to take back the W3L Women’s Championship, she won’t be wanting her second reign to end so soon after regaining the title.

As we don’t know her opponent as yet I can throw out some form of a guess. Personally I would like to see it be either Ashley Vega or Rayhne, selfishly because I haven’t seen either wrestle live and they are on my list (not in a creepy way… which makes it definitely sound creepy). It could easily be Angel Hayze or even someone from the W3L Action Academy, there is no way of knowing (unless someone slides into my DMs or W3L announce it between this article being posted and the show itself hint… hint).

**after this preview went out we were informed that Emily Hayden would not be at this event due to a scheduling conflict**

W3L Wrestling Showdown Championship – Kevin Williams (c) vs Luke Aldridge

On the latest episode of W3L Wrestling Showdown, it was confirmed that the ‘Super Wrestling Entertainment System’ Kevin Williams would face the man he defeated for the title, Luke Aldridge. It wasn’t outright confirmed that the championship would be on the line but I will go out on a limb and say that Williams wouldn’t say no to defending the title. Their match at Wrestlution XIII saw Aldridge make one mistake that saw Williams capitalise on to make Aldridge tap out which seems to be eating up ‘The Exile’. This will be a slugfest no doubt but with Williams holding a recent win over Aldridge it may make the former the champion a loose cannon.

Leo King, The Bulgarian Baker and Joe E Legend Scheduled To Appear

Also scheduled to appear are former WWE (as Just Joe) and TNA star Joe E Legend. The Canadian is world travelled coming up the ranks in his early years with the likes of Edge, Christian and Rhyno, and is a former W3L Heavyweight Champion. It will be cool to see Joe again as it has been a number of years since he’s been up to the North of Scotland. Bozidar Branimir will grace Elgin with his presence once again, The Bulgarian Baker (as he is better known) will surely not be best pleased as his last appearance saw him crashing through a table, after he misunderstood the premise of a tables match against Mike Musso. He hasn’t had the best run of luck but maybe this is his year, I realise that I haven’t made any bread jokes yet so… crumbs. W3L Breakout Champion Leo King will also be in action, King has been on the hunt for a physical championship belt but it was confirmed in the recent Wrestling Showdown that there isn’t an actual physical title for the W3L Breakout Champion. He also had some comments towards Adam’s September Wrestler of the Month top 10 on the SWN website, which didn’t include King, in a video recently. Leo King has been under the tutelage of Aberdeen wrestling legend Len Ironside and has already competed across the pond in the United States so has a healthy CV building already.

With Taylor Bryden and Euan G Mackie on the poster, hopefully we’ll see the former Disco Biscuits in action. Though not officially confirmed there would be a Euan G Mackie hole missing from my heart if he isn’t at The Bishopmill Hall to wonderfully narrate his own wrestling plight.

Matches are taped for W3L Wrestling Showdown (featured on this very website every week) on the W3L Network so there is another chance that my gleaming bald spot will be on display once more.

Tickets are still available for a show that you will enjoy, trust me, it is entertainment in its purest form that will have characters you will cheer and boo, something for the whole family to get involved with.

Head over to www.w3lwrestling.com to buy online or head up to Sound & Vision on South Street in Elgin to get your paws on a couple tickets.
