aa2020

So, with tickets now officially on sale, the hype train for WrestleZone Aberdeen Anarchy is already underway here on Scottish Wrestling Network (seriously, it’s like Christmas come early for myself and Billy). Billy’s done a five possible guests article here so to hop aboard the train that’s heading straight for Hype Valley, I’ve come up with five possible matches for the weekend. Will any of these happen? Who knows but knowing my track record with predictions, probably not. Anyway though…

Undisputed WrestleZone Championship & WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship – Winner Takes All Match
Damien (UND) vs Jason Reed (TC)

Kicking things off with a big one – a Winner Takes All Match between Damien and Jason Reed for their Undisputed and Tri-Counties Championships respectively. Obviously, this one would require both Damien and Jason to retain their titles until the May weekender, but they’re more than capable of doing so. They’ve already held their respective titles since April 13th, so just a few more months to go. Personally, I wouldn’t unify the titles as such, but rather have them defended both together and separately, like what BT Gunn did with the ICW World Heavyweight and Zero-G Championships.

WrestleZone Tag Team Championships – Gauntlet Match
The Outfit (Dino Del Monte & Ted O’Keefe) (c) vs The Rejected (Chris Archer & Mikkey Vago) vs Kaden Garrick & Mr P vs Alan Sterling & Caleb Valhalla

WrestleZone’s tag team division is stacked, so it’s always difficult to predict what the Tag Team Championships match will be. As a result, chuck four teams into a Gauntlet Match for the tag titles, and watch magic be created. Have The Outfit enter as champions (either after unseating Scotty Swift and Johnny Lions, or by winning the vacant titles if Lions retires as champion), with The Rejected, Kaden Garrick and Mr P, and Alan Sterling and Caleb Valhalla as the three challenging teams. The story coming into this one would have to see Kaden and Mr P earn the right to team together again though, seeing as they lost that right at Christmas Chaos 2016.

Loser Leaves Town Match
Scotty Swift vs William Sterling

William Sterling has been targeting Scotty Swift since Halloween Hijinx 2018, blaming him as one of the men responsible for the dissolution of Sterling Oil. The pair are still going at it as we speak, so how about a good ol’ fashioned Loser Leaves Town Match? Both men are WrestleZone originals, having paved the way for the WrestleZone we all know and love today. It has to end at some point though. That’s not to say I necessarily want either of them gone (I’ve highly enjoyed their rivalry over the last 12 months), but it would certainly make for a special attraction come Aberdeen Anarchy weekend.

Last Man Standing Match
Bryan Tucker vs Shawn Johnson

The rivalry between Bryan Tucker and Shawn Johnson has been reignited following Tucker’s attack on Johnson at Battle of the Nations, just moments before The Granite City Hotshots were set to reunite against Blue Thunder and William Sterling. Tensions between the two rose even more at Halloween Hijinx when Tucker made a comment regarding Johnson’s newly born daughter. It’s a rivalry that looks set to be part of next year’s Aberdeen Anarchy at the time of writing, but this is such a personal rivalry that can’t be contested under the normal rules of a wrestling match. Thus, put them in a Last Man Standing Match. If they can make a Christmas Brawl be more hardcore than it has any right to be, then I’m sure they could do wonders with this stipulation.

The Foundation of the Future (Zach Dynamite, Bradley Evans & Ryan Riley) vs More Than Hype (LJ Cleary, Darren Kearney & Nathan Martin)

This last is more of a selfish option for me just to see More Than Hype brought up to Aberdeen, but just imagine that trio against The Foundation of the Future. Since their formation on March 16th, Zach Dynamite, Bradley Evans, and Ryan Riley have only had one match where they all teamed together, that being a loss to Kaden Garrick and The Rejected at Halloween Hijinx. It would be nice to see them all team up more often, so get LJ Cleary, Darren Kearney, and Nathan Martin on that plane from Ireland to Aberdeen in time for Aberdeen Anarchy weekend.
