PBW2

As people filled the Maybole Town Hall, so popular was the card that the officials had to make extra seats available for the fans. Now this is a healthy sign of the growing popularity of this organisation.

The fans were looking forward to seeing their favourites: Lionheart, Wolfgang, Tag Team Champions, Just Uz and many others. And on this night they would not be disappointed.

One of the questions on the fans minds were, How could the high-flying tag team champions handle the tough Scott Maverick and the Monster TJ Rage with their interfering manager Charles Boddington? Could Lionheart and Wolfgang work as a team and could the awesome Kay Lee Ray defeat the deceptive Kasey Owens?

Ryan Hendricks vs Davey Blaze

Kicking off the event, the first match was fan favourite Davey Blaze taking on the fierce Ryan Hendricks. Right from the start, the fans got into the match with Blaze taking a beating early on, the fans rallied behind him to fight back, the two began to show off some great chain wrestling. Blaze managed to execute the three linking suplexes and a high cross body off the top turnbuckle, but the ending came when Blaze went for a spear and hit the turnbuckle, leaving Hendricks to capitalise, hitting a neckbreaker, then scoring the pin.

Winner: Ryan Hendricks by Pinfall.

Lionheart & Wolfgang vs Dave Krycek & Craig Damian

Next up, it was the moment a lot of fans had been waiting for, the match of Lionheart & Wolfgang versus the team of Dave Krycek & Craig Damian. The beginning of the match, Lionheart and Wolfgang were solidly in control, frustrating the opposite team but then Krycek and Damian began to isolate Wolfgang, using every trick in the book to keep the pressure on Wolfgang, visibly angering Lionheart and he encouraged the fans the cheer for his tag team partner and they roared to the challenge. Bringing Wolfgang back into the match, he hit a dropkick off the second turnbuckle on both Krycek & Damian. From there the match quickened in pace, all four men showing what they can do with Lionheart hitting a running high kick and a sideslam while Wolfgang hit a fantastic spear to leave the fans in awe. The ending arrived when Krycek was going to hit Wolfgang with a DDT, but Lionheart connected with a thrust kick to the face. Then they connected with a reverse doomday device to get the win leaving the fans cheering.

Winners: Lionheart and Wolfgang by Pinfall.

Switch vs Solar

The next match, the fans saw a great new character, Switch, a cross between old 90’s WWE Nailz and Mankind.  He captured the crowd immediately clutching his teddy bear and looking demented at the crowd. In contrast his opponent has Solar, loving the crowd and entertaining as usual. The beginning of the match, saw Solar having fun playing the bear and frustrating Switch using his speed and high-flying abilities. But Switch launched himself  back into the match, dodging at high kick from Solar, he then hung Solar on the ropes and hit a dropkick from the second turnbuckle to the leg and then began the calculated attack on the leg and the match concluding with Switch making Solar tap with a figure-four.

Winner: Switch by Submission.

Kay Lee Ray vs Kasey Owens

Next up was the womens match seeing Kay Lee Ray face Kasey Owens. Owens was booed loudly throughout this match and she hammed it up brilliantly  taking every chance she could to annoy the fans. Ray had the match in her control early on until she missed a leg drop from the top turnbuckle and that is when Owens beat her opponent down. Throughout the match both woman exchanged great moves and thunderous running forearms. Owen managed to to connect with a double link suplex, while Ray hit a dropkick to Owens head, a facebuster and connecting with a moonsault for the win. This match is a fine example of the calibre of womens wrestling, both were fantastic.

Winner: Kay Lee Ray by Pinfall.

Kenny Williams & Tommy Marx vs Lou Kin Sharp & Brendan Cooper

Next up was the tag match of Lou Kin Sharp & Brendan Cooper against Kenny Williams & Tommy Marx. This match was a fine example of PBW Wrestling development. The début of Lou Kin Sharp & Brendan Cooper showed that the company has its eye on the future, with wrestling schools in Airdire, Barrhead and Greenock and if they are producing new talent like this, those schools are doing a fantastic job.
The match saw both sides take the advantage, and they demonstrated their skills to the crowd who were engrossed in this technical match. Sharp & Cooper looked to get the win as Sharp was ready to connect with the triple Pow(Three kicks to the chest and one to the head). After trying this move for a second time the veterans used their knowledge to the advantage when Sharp missed it and hit a frog splash from the top turnbuckle to get the win. This was a prime example of when current wrestlers can help make new stars look there equal even in defeat.

Winners: Kenny Williams & Tommy Marx by Pinfall.

Red Lightning vs JD Bravo

After that excitement, we saw Red Lightning attempt to defeat the fan favourite JD Bravo. A hard hitting contest with both men not letting each get an advantage. Bravo took the match to Lightning and would have perhaps have won except earlier, Lightning beat down the leg of Bravo and this would prove to be his downfall. As he tried to get up nursing his leg, Bravo fell prey to a dropkick to the back knocking him against the turnbuckle and a schoolboy rollup for the pin. But Lightning would get the pin with aid of holding the ropes.

Winner: Red Lightning by Pinfall.

PBW Tag Team Championship – Just Uz (BT Gunn & Stevie Xavier) (c) vs TJ Rage & Scott Maverick w/Charles Boddington

And now it was time for the main event, the PBW Tag Team Title Match, Just Uz(BT Gunn & Stevie Xavier) against the challengers, TJ Rage & Scott Maverick with Charles Boddington.

Charles Boddington is template of what managers can be, reminding this writer of a combination of Bobby Heenan & Paul Heyman. Commanding the crowd from the start of the match with a promo that his men are the future of PBW Wrestling. The tag team champions arrived to a lot of fan fare, and if there was any concern on how they would handle the monster Rage, that was eliminated early on as they demonstrated the tag team continuity that got them the tag team titles. With quick tags and singling out Maverick, Just Uz kept control of the match with flying forearms through the ropes and duel moonsaults. The team of Rage and Maverick showed why they are title contenders, Rage striking with a powerbomb, Maverick hitting a fantastic RKO as Gunn came off the top rope and the addition of Boddington interfering throughout the match, it seemed as if they could be the new Tag Team champions. And when Rage hit an explosive spear and went for the pin, suddenly Boddington pulled the referee away and demanded that Rage finish the match he wants. Throwing in the briefcase in the ring, the manager said hit him with it and Rage threw the case back knowing that would lead to a DQ if he used it. But in the confusion, the Champions rolled Rage up for the pin and got the victory.  It appeared after the match Rage and Boddington split.

Winner: Just Uz by Pinfall.

This was a fantastic event with the fans looking forward to the next events in Glasgow and Airdrie. A great family wrestling show.
