Hello, and welcome to the latest edition of Pass Me the Book. Today, I’m going to take a look at how I would book Scotty Swift losing the Undisputed WrestleZone Title.
– Adam Morrison
Scotty has held the gold for 456 days as I’m writing this. After defeating Joe Coffey at Aberdeen Anarchy 2015, the Red Haired Warrior as defended the title against names like Aspen Faith, Crusher Craib, Damien, Alan Sterling and the Super Executioner. He’s defended in Triple Threats and Fatal Four Ways. But, it’s time for him to lose the gold.
I would have him keep the title until Aberdeen Anarchy 2017 on June 17th. But before that, I’ll give a runthrough of all his happenings in WrestleZone until then. After teaming with Zach Dynamite to defeat Sterling Oil’s Damien and William Sterling in Banchory, Zach makes a challenge to Scotty for a title match at WrestleZone’s next big event, Halloween Hijinx on October 29th. Swift accepts, but the title will only be on the line if he manages to defend it at every show until then. As part of this Road to Halloween Hijinx Series, Scotty makes 4 successful defenses before then; against Alan Sterling in Keith, Shawn Johnson in Brechin, Aspen Faith in Balmedie and finally, in a Battle Royal in Kincorth against Johnny Lions, Damien, William Sterling, Chris Archer and Mikkey Vago. The Kincorth show ends with a staredown between champion Scotty Swift and challenger Zach Dynamite.
Halloween Hijinx rolls around at the Inverurie Town Hall. The main event is set, as Dynamite enters the building. Scotty enters next, but is attacked by Damien who uses a metal pipe on his knee. Zach runs over to check on Swift as Damien leaves, the damage done. The match goes ahead and, despite a valiant effort from Dynamite and the fact he has an injured knee, Scotty manages to retain his title again. Damien returns after the match, pipe in hand, with William, Alan, Shawn and Richard. Zach and Scotty look ready for the fight but Dynamite blindsides the Red Haired Warrior out of nowhere! Zach Dynamite has joined Sterling Oil as William and Alan nail the Oil Crash. Richard R. Russell celebrates with his men as Halloween Hijinx comes to an end.
Over the last few weeks of 2016, Scotty defends his title at all the remaining shows in 2016; in Huntly against Alan Sterling, in Arbroath against Shawn Johnson and at Christmas Chaos in a Fatal Four Way against Damien, Zach Dynamite and Bryan Tucker. At Summerhill Showdown, Scotty provides commentary for the main event, pitting Bryan Tucker against Shawn Johnson for the last time, where the winner will earn a title shot at the Regal Rumble. Bryan comes out on top as his rivalry with Shawn comes to an end. The show ends with a staredown between Scotty and Bryan.
The title doesn’t get defended for the next few shows. Instead, Bryan and Scotty engage in a Pick Your Poison series. Bryan picks Scotty’s opponent in Montrose, who turns out to be Johnny Lions. Scotty overcomes Lions despite being nailed with a Lionlock DDT and a Lion Cutter. Scotty then gets to choose Bryan’s opponent for the next show in Newtonhill, deciding to choose Sir Andrew Wilde. Despite the hellacious onslaught from Wilde, Bryan wins with a surprise rollup. The show ends with champion and challenger almost getting into a brawl before management’s Chris McDonald intervenes. He announces that at the next show in Peterhead, 3 out of the 6 matches will be Scotty and Bryan competing in a Tag Team Gauntlet throughout the night. In Peterhead, Scotty and Bryan manage to overcome their first team in The Rejected. Their second team ends up being Sterling Oil’s Damien and Zach Dynamite, who get themselves intentionally disqualified by using steel chairs to soften them up for the main event. The third and final team is another Sterling Oil team, this time William and Alan Sterling. The brothers kindly offer to put their WrestleZone Tag Team Titles on the line. In a relatively short match due to the chair attack earlier on, Alan pins Scotty following a brutal DDT, dropping him right on his head. At the end of the show, William and Alan, who are now joined by Damien, Shawn and Zach, continue their beatdown on Scotty before being chased off by Bryan Tucker. Champion and challenger stare down the 5 members of Sterling Oil but Bryan takes Scotty out with a Twist of Fate. The show ends with Bryan holding the Undisputed Title above Scotty.
A few days after the show in Peterhead, Bryan Tucker releases a video online where he explains his actions in Peterhead. He says he is in no way alligned with Richard R. Russell and the rest of Sterling Oil. What he did was his own actions. He then makes a proposal to add a stipulation to their match at the Regal Rumble. He demands the match be changed to a Street Fight. WrestleZone management announce via Facebook that they have sanctioned the match to go ahead as a Street Fight, followed by uploading a video of the contract signing to YouTube. The match goes on before the Rumble match main event. After putting up a great effort in a match that included several chairs, a kendo stick and a trash can being used, Bryan Tucker comes so close to winning but Scotty eventually comes out on top after a Granite City Driver through the trash can. In the main event, Aspen Faith comes out on top in the 2017 Regal Rumble match after last eliminating Zach Dynamite. The Regal Rumble ends with a staredown between Scotty and Aspen.
At the shows in Fraserburgh, Westhill and Stonehaven, Aspen defeats Damien, Mikkey Vago and Sir Andrew Wilde, with Wilde being the fact that Aspen wanted to prove he can hang with guys bigger than him (although he’s done that with guys like Crusher Craib). Over the same three shows, Scotty defends his title against Chris Archer, Shawn Johnson and Lewis Girvan. Stonehaven ends with Scotty and Aspen having to be seperated by staff, just like Scotty and Crusher at Live in Stonehaven 2016.
Aberdeen Anarchy finally arrives on June 17th and it comes down to the main event; it’s Scotty Swift, the Red Haired Warrior, vs Aspen Faith, the King of Catch. A video package plays before the match, showing how each man got to this match. As previously seen between these two, the match was quite a technical classic. Chinlocks, hammerlocks, headlocks, suplexes, everything you would imagine from wrestlers of this calibre. Scotty busts out a suicide dive late into the contest. Aspen battles back with a few of his signature moves before Scotty nails the Granite City Driver for a very close 2 count. Aspen nails the Faith Buster for another close 2 count before both men collide heads and fall to the mat. After both Scotty and Aspen make it up at the 9 count, Aspen nails a knee to the jaw, followed by the Knee Trembler and finally a second Faith Buster for the win and the title. Aspen celebrates post match with his newly won title which is presented to him by Scotty Swift himself. Aberdeen Anarchy 2017 ends with the King of Catch standing tall as the new Undisputed WrestleZone champion.
That’s how I would book Scotty Swift losing the Undisputed WrestleZone Title. Still a long way to go, but Aspen definitely needs the belt sooner rather than later.
