This last month has been relatively quiet wrestling-wise, which has allowed me to think of different ideas to take my persona further and think about times and places that I can put them into practice. I find it interesting to think that it was only several months ago that I was clean shaven and had my hair slicked back, but I decided that after years of the same kind of look, it was time to change things up, hence the beard and spiky hair combo that exists today.
My time away from the ring has seen me witness the Edinburgh Fringe festivities, with comedic performances from Gavin Webster, Carl Hutchinson and Joz Norris being particular highlights. I always enjoy my multi-day experience there as a fan of theatre and the arts and as I write this before sending it to OSWtv HQ, the festival is in its last week. Another highlight was the Darius Davies show that was a part of the Free Fringe, where he touched upon how he made his own journey into wrestling and what inspired him to do so.

Business will be picking up wrestling-wise though, as SSW will be hosting Tainted Tradition at the Regal Theatre in Bathgate this Saturday. The last show saw an interesting alliance in GI Joe and Johnathan Richards form (the pro-Donald Trump t-shirt Richards was wearing made me curious about whether this is a pro-Trump alliance, hats off to them if it is), where Richards helped GI Joe beat El Techinco for the SPWO UK Championship. SSW Worlds Champion Kaiden King overcame TJ Rage in the main event, but he also found himself on the end of a post-match assault orchestrated by TJ, which was followed by Mikey Ratings coming to the aid of the champion, before Chokeslamming him for good measure and outlining his own intentions on winning championship gold.

My last experience at SSW saw me on the end of a Clothesline to the throat and a Chokeslam by current SSW Hardcore Champion The Alpha Male, but there is an interesting statistic that needs to be considered: I have not been pinned, or made to submit in the Regal Theatre for over two years, with my last pinfall loss being to a debuting Morado back in May 2014. Regardless of what is in store for me this Saturday, the people of Bathgate will be graced by the presence of Lucian Maynard Smith.

Also, W3L have live events coming up near the end of September. Tickets can be purchased via www.w3lwrestling.com. Please find a list of them below.
• Thursday 22nd September: Bedlington Social Club, Bedlington, Northumberland.
• Friday 23rd September: Catterick Garrison Leisure Centre, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.
• Saturday 24th September (MY BIRTHDAY!!!): Queen’s Hall, Hexham.
• Sunday 25th September: Grangemouth Town Hall.
As you can see, I will potentially fulfil a career-long goal of competing on my birthday, which will no doubt involve celebrations before, during and after the show, especially given the fact I will be in my home country. The following week sees W3L on the road again, with live events taking place in the towns listed below.
• Thursday 29th September: Jubilee Centre, Berwick Upon Tweed.
• Friday 30th September: Wrestlution X, The Brunton, Musselburgh. #WhoWillWrestleLucian.
• Saturday 1st October: Carnegie Leisure Centre, Dunfermline, Fife.
• Sunday 2nd October: Consett Leisure Centre, Consett, County Durham.
Yours truly has never won a match at Wrestlution and looks to change that at the tenth annual show. A few matches have already been announced, but as the hashtag asks, who will wrestle Lucian? (credit goes to Stevie The Wizard for that phrase!) Expect there to be numerous announcements on the W3L Facebook page and on their weekly YouTube show Wrestling Showdown in the near future. Until then, that is The Life of Smith. Good day.
