After a monumental 2016, WrestleZone plan to kick off the new year with a bang as they return to Aberdeen’s Summerhill Hotel on January 21st. With Grado scheduled to make his return to the Granite City for the first time since Battle of the Nations 2015, it’s set to be a great start to 2017.
Undisputed WrestleZone Title
Andy Wild (c) vs Grado
The main event for WrestleZone’s first show of the year will see Andy Wild put his Undisputed Title on the line against Grado. Andy will be coming into this match with a huge wave of momentum after the phenomenal year he had in 2016. After earning wins over the likes of Johnny Lions, Jason Reed and Kaden Garrick, Wild ended the record-setting reign of Scotty Swift as Undisputed Champion to solidify his dominance over the WrestleZone roster. His opponent for the evening, Grado, always enjoys a good laugh with the fans. But if he wants to have any chance of walking out of Summerhill Showdown as the new champion, Grado will have to show more than his funny side.
WrestleZone Tri-Counties Title Tournament: Quarterfinals
Shawn Johnson vs Zach Dynamite
The tournament to crown the inaugural Tri-Counties Champion continues at Summerhill Showdown with the first of four quarterfinals, as Zach Dynamite faces off against Sterling Oil’s Shawn Johnson. Shawn eliminated Mr P from competition en-route to the quarterfinals, while Zach Dynamite saw off a last-minute opponent in Chris Archer. Dynamite will need to be aware of his surroundings, as any of the other Sterling Oil members could cause a distraction at any point during this bout. Who will go one step further to becoming the first-ever Tri-Counties Champion?
WrestleZone Tag Team Titles
Sterling Oil’s Open Challenge
Ever since Battle of the Nations when he recieved two Kaden Garrick spears, William Sterling was left injured on the sidelines. This led to Alan Sterling defending the WrestleZone Tag Team Titles with Shawn Johnson. However on the most recent WrestleZone podcast, William Sterling announced that he would be returning to action this Saturday at Summerhill Showdown and The Sterling Brothers were issuing an open challenge for their tag straps. Who could challenge for their tag gold? Perhaps The Rejected or Los Cystos, or a new team to WrestleZone?
Fatal Four Way Match
Scotty Swift vs Bryan Tucker vs Aspen Faith vs Lou King Sharp
Fans in attendance at the Summerhill Hotel will be treated to what looks to be one of WrestleZone’s greatest fatal four way matches ever as Scotty Swift, Bryan Tucker, Aspen Faith and the returning Lou King Sharp will do battle. Bryan and Aspen are both still competing in the Tri-Counties Title Tournament and will face off in the semifinals should they overcome their quarterfinal opponents (Andy Wild and Johnny Lions respectively). Scotty Swift will be looking to start 2017 off with a bang after failing in his rematch for the Undisputed Title at Christmas Chaos last month. Finally, there’s Lou King Sharp. After giving up his spot in the Tri-Counties Title Tournament to Chris Archer, LKS is set for a rough return to the Granite City. Facing off against 2 former Undisputed Champions and one of Scotland’s most underrated wrestlers, all in the same match? Not an easy task.
20 Minute Iron Man Match
Damien vs Johnny Lions
A long-running rivalry continues at Summerhill Showdown as former Revolution tag partners Damien and Johnny Lions face off once again, this time in a 20 Minute Iron Man match. Whoever scores the most falls (pinfall, submission, count out or disqualification) within 20 minutes wins the bout. These two men’s hatred for one another started one year ago at Summerhill Showdown 2016, when Lions cost Damien his shot at the Undisputed Title against then-champion Scotty Swift and turned down his offer to join Sterling Oil. Since then, these two have been going back and forth against each other. Will this be the final encounter?
Kaden Garrick vs Mr P
After the shocking actions of Kaden Garrick at Christmas Chaos last month, former tag champions will collide as Garrick faces former partner Mr P. After failing to capture the WrestleZone Tag Team Titles for a third time, the stipulation attached meant that Garrick and P were banned from teaming together ever again. Kaden, clearly frustrated about failing in their championship pursuit and his recent losing streak, snapped and attacked Mr P to the shock of fans. Mr P later accepted the challenge laid out by Kaden and the two will do battle this Saturday. This one could get messy.
Aberdeen Anarchy Announcement
WrestleZone management regretfully announced that Mickie James has had to pull out of her scheduled Aberdeen Anarchy appearance on June 17th. As a result, 3 former WWE superstars will be revealed for the annual supershow next Saturday night! I have my predictions, do you?
Fans in attendance will also have the chance to purchase Halloween Hijinx 2016 and Christmas Chaos 2016 on DVD for the first time, priced at £8 each.
Tickets for the show have sold out, however there will be a limited amount of extra seats available on a first come, first served basis on the night of the event. Doors at the hotel open at 6:30pm, with the action getting underway at 7:00.
