Preview: 5* Wrestling Presents ‘Dominant Wrestling’

On Saturday, January 28th at the Dundee Ice Arena in Dundee, 5 Star Wrestling returns with a star packed show which will be aired live on Spike TV in the UK. A mix of international names including 5* Champion John Morrison, Rey Mysterio and Drew Galloway plus UK talent like Joe Coffey, Joe Hendry and Lou King Sharp it’s shaping up to be an incredible event. This is 5 Star Wrestling’s debut in Dundee with events held in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Sheffield and Liverpool in the past 15 months.

It’s not been without controversy, with the event taking place the same night as Scottish Wrestling Entertainment’s monthly Uprising event which takes place less than 2 miles away at the Ardler Complex. A ‘turf war’ broke out online which adds an extra sense of tension on both sides of the fence. Hopefully this sees both companies put on fantastic line ups so that the fans are winners and we don’t see anymore petty squabbling online before, during or after.

It’s been a long road to get here with pull outs from Mark Haskins (injury), Ryback plus Kurt Angle on commentary (we would assume due to WWE commitments). Replacements have included Moose and Rey Mysterio which would surely appease wrestling fans in attendence. Greg Lambert heads the commentary team on the night.

What we do know about 5 Star Wrestling’s event on January 28th is that it will be live and a series has been commissioned by Channel 5 and Spike TV as announced at a press event by Drew Galloway. We don’t know if this will the first of many events at the Dundee Ice Arena or it will be a touring company with events all over the country.

The roster announced so far:
– John Morrison
– Jay Lethal
– Rey Mysterio
– Carlito
– Moose
– PJ Black
– Nick Aldis
– Drew Galloway
– Joe Coffey
– Jimmy Havoc
– Jack Jester
– Joe Hendry
– Kid Fite
– Lou King Sharp
– Zack Gibson
– Irving Garrett
– Deviation

A pretty solid line up with John Morrison, the 5* Champion, offering an open challenge to anyone to face him for the title.

No other matches have been announced as of writing with rumours of a tournament to crown a number one contender swirling but nothing confirmed. We’ll just have to watch and see what Dominant Wrestling offers and if it compares to the recent ITV World of Sport Wrestling that took place on Hogmanay less than a month ago.

It’s an exciting time to be a wrestling fan with grappling coming back into the mainstream and a new generation to watch real life superheroes in front of their very eyes.

VIP tickets are sold out but a limited about of floor seats are still available at
