Discovery Wrestling return to The Jam House in Edinburgh this coming Sunday for Uncivil War, where the winners of the Women’s Championship, Uncivil War and Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational tournaments will be crowned. Unfortunately, British Strong Style will no longer be able to appear at the show due to being added to the WWE UK tour, but a suitable replacement has been found in “The Mexican Sensation” El Ligero. He’s from Mexico, not Leeds!
Y Division Championship
Matt Riddle vs Joe Coffey (c)
The main event for Sunday’s show will see “The Iron Man” Joe Coffey make the first defence of his Y Division Championship against “The King of Bros” Matt Riddle in what is sure to be a match of the year contender. Coffey finally ended the 666-day reign of Lewis Girvan at Year Three in September in a fantastic 2 out of 3 falls match. After chasing the title for so long, The Iron Man was finally able to end Girvan’s record-setting reign. But it’s not going to be an easy reign for Coffey, as his first challenger is former UFC fighter Matt Riddle. Riddle has been making a name for himself all over the world with a few previous appearances in Discovery Wrestling against the likes of Dave Conrad and Mikey Whiplash. Will Coffey’s reign come to an end before just one title defence?
Discovery Women’s Championship Tournament: Finals
Fatal Four Way Match to crown the inaugural Discovery Women’s Champion
Martina vs Sammii Jayne vs Lucy Cole vs Ayesha Raymond
The Discovery Women’s Champion will finally be crowned this Sunday as Martina, Sammii Jayne, Lucy Cole and Ayesha Ray face off in a Fatal Four Way Match. After the abrupt ending to the original tournament finals at Year Three due to an injury to Lucy Cole, Discovery management have arranged for a rematch between the participants. However, Nina Samuels will be unable to participate and has a result been named the official #1 contender to the title. Replacing her in the match is WWE Mae Young Classic competitor Ayesha Raymond. All four entrants have what it takes to become the first champion, but who will walk out of The Jam House with the Women’s Title intact?
Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational: Finals
Rampage Brown vs Aspen Faith
The Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational is a single-elimination tournament with the winner earning a shot at the Y Division Championship whenever they choose, and it all comes to an end this Sunday when Rampage Brown faces “The King of Catch” Aspen Faith. Rampage advanced to the finals by defeating Dave Conrad and Mikey Whiplash, while Aspen defeated Doug Williams and Chris Ridgeway to get to the finals. Both competitors will be hoping to earn the title opportunity, especially with a new champion being crowned just two months ago. With Aspen’s Kings of Catch partner Lewis Girvan losing the title after a record-breaking 666 days, Faith can hopefully bring the gold back to The KoC if he’s able to overcome the colossal Rampage Brown.
Uncivil War: Finals
Fatal Four Way Elimination Match
Buffet Club (Rob Cage & Gene Munny) vs Kid Fite & Krieger vs The New Age Kliq (Chris Renfrew & BT Gunn) vs Dave Conrad & Deviation
The other tournament that will be coming to an end on Sunday, with Discovery’s inaugural Tag Team Champions being crowned (are their actual physical title belts?) as the final four teams collide when Buffet Club, the team of Kid Fite and Krieger, The New Age Kliq and the team of Dave Conrad and Deviation do battle. The qualifier matches were as follows;
March 5th 2017: Fight Club (Kid Fite & Liam Thomson) def. The House of Saynt (Lewis Sharp & Theo Doros)
May 5th 2017: Dave Conrad & Deviation def. The Fabulous Bakewell Boys (Jerry Bakewell & Steakly Bakewell)
June 23rd 2017: Buffet Club (Rob Cage & Gene Munny) def. The Headbanders (Jackie Grady & Rob Mills)
September 16th 2017: The New Age Kliq (Chris Renfrew & BT Gunn) def. Polo Promotions (Jackie Polo & Mark Coffey) and The Kings of the North (Bonesaw & Damien Corvin) in a Triple Threat Match
Unfortunately due to injury, Liam Thomson will not be able to compete this Sunday. As a result, Kid Fite will now team with one of his PBW trainees Krieger. All four teams are known for beating down their opponents, but which one will walk away as the Discovery Tag Team Champions?
If Michael Chase wins, The House of Saynt will be forced to disband
Michael Chase vs Christopher Saynt
One of Discovery’s longest-running rivalries will come to an end this Sunday as Michael Chase faces The Patriarch of The House of Saynt, Christopher Saynt with the stipulation that if Saynt loses then The HoS will be forced to disband. The hostility between these two kicked off in July 2016, where Saynt defeated Chase, but it really kicked off in March earlier this year. With Chase barred from the building and The House of Saynt losing in an Uncivil War qualifier, Lewis Sharp was kicked out of the house and beaten down, until being saved by Chase. Most recently at Year Three, Chase teamed with Sharp and Lisa Marie Varon to defeat The House of Saynt’s Christopher Saynt, Theo Doros and Jayla Dark which meant that Chase would be able to face Saynt this coming Sunday.
El Ligero vs Lewis Girvan
A huge first time ever singles contest has been signed for Sunday, as “The Mexican Sensation” El Ligero makes his Discovery Wrestling debut to face the longest-reigning Y Division Champion in history, “Mr Discovery” Lewis Girvan. Ever since Ligero’s debut was announced, The Best Young Wrestler in the World has made it known that he has a problem with Mexico’s finest coming to potentially take his crown of Mr Discovery. Discovery management have taken notice of that, so they’ve given the former champ the opportunity to prove himself against the world-travelled athlete. If you’re doubting going to this show (despite the other phenomenal matches announced), then go specifically for this one. An absolute showstealer for sure!
Triple Threat Match
Lucha DS vs Josh Terry vs Delsin Dayre
Triple Threat action has also been signed for Sunday’s show as Lucha DS and Delsin Dayre make their Discovery returns to collide with the debuting “Turbo” Josh Terry. Lucha DS is one of the greatest high flyers to come from the PBW Academy while Delsin Dayre is a regular for Reckless Intent. Josh Terry on the other hand is a man I’m not too familiar with. DS got a shot at the Y Division Championship this past May, coming up short in a Four Way Elimination Match against then-champion Lewis Girvan. These three will be hoping to impress Discovery management in hopes of earning a shot at new champion Joe Coffey down the line, providing he retains over Matt Riddle.
Tickets are still available from shop.discoverywrestling.com, priced at £12 for adults and £8 for under 14s. Front and second row tickets have sold out for the event. Doors open at 4:15pm with the action kicking off between 6-6:15. The later start time is to allow the likes of Joe Coffey and The New Age Kliq to travel from Cardiff to Edinburgh.
