Preview: Discovery Wrestling ‘Live!’ May 2018 (Adam)

After their March event was cancelled due to the extreme weather conditions, Discovery Wrestling return to The Jam House in Edinburgh for an absolutely stacked card, featuring the Discovery debuts of Joey Ryan and Bad Bones. With their weekly show on Fite TV set to begin later this month, Discovery are pulling out all the stops to make this one of their best shows to date!

Triple Threat Match for the Y Division Championship
BT Gunn vs Joe Coffey (c) vs Aspen Faith

The main event for the night will see Joe Coffey putting the Y Division Championship on the line in a huge Triple Threat Match against BT Gunn and Aspen Faith. Coffey was originally set to defend against Gunn at the start of March, with that show having to be cancelled due to the snow. Discovery management decided to reschedule the match for this show, but Aspen Faith had something to say about. The King of Catch made it clear he was cashing in his 2017 Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational contract to add himself to the match. Since becoming champion in September, Coffey has made successful defences against Matt Riddle, Matt Cross and Zack Sabre Jr. Could his reign be coming to an end as he faces two of the best in Scotland?

Discovery Women’s Championship
Kasey vs Sammii Jayne (c)

The Women’s Championship will also be on the line with Sammii Jayne set to defend against the debuting Kasey. The Main Event Empress has been on fire over the last few months, winning titles all over the place and competing in both Japan and Spain. Sammii became the inaugural Women’s Champion in November and has been successful in defences over Kay Lee Ray and Little Miss Roxxy. She faces a new challenger this weekend as Kasey makes her Discovery debut. The Irish native has been making a name for herself in ICW, winning the Women’s Championship on two separate occasions. Both women took part in a WWE tryout back in November and each hold a victory over the other. Who’ll make the score 2-1?

Joey Ryan vs DCT

This next match is something else. After Discovery announced Joey Ryan for the show, there was one man that fans wanted to see him face: DCT. The King of Dong Style has become infamous for groin-related activities in the ring, while The International Sex Hero has become infamous for his snazzy singlets. Joey is a record-breaking 44-time DDT Pro Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion. Now, this would be impressive if it were any other title, but this one has been held by the likes of a trash bin, a ladder, the entire audience at a Beyond Wrestling event and, worst of all, Jack the Jobber. Nevertheless however, Joey is an accomplished performer, having competed for promotions such as Impact Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. DCT has been making waves here in the UK, competing regularly for Insane Championship Wrestling and Reckless Intent Wrestling, but he hasn’t really had the chance to prove himself in a Discovery Wrestling ring. Perhaps this is the time for that to happen. Although I wouldn’t get your hopes up for this being a technical classic.

Lewis Girvan vs Chris Ridgeway

While the previous match might not be a technical showcase, this next one has all the potential to be just that as Lewis Girvan faces Chris Ridgeway. Since his Y Division Championship reign ended at a record 666 days, The Renegade has been vying to get back in the title hunt. Alongside his Kings of Catch partner Aspen Faith, Lewis last eliminated The Young Bucks in a Four Way Elimination Match and also defeated Chris Brookes and Omari earlier this year. He faces “Smashmouth” Chris Ridgeway this Sunday, a man who has been making waves all over the UK. Ridgeway has previously faced off against Aspen Faith, with an incredible semifinal bout in last year’s Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational which he lost. He’ll be hoping to defeat the other King of Catch in Edinburgh and possibly look to get in the Y Division Championship picture aswell.

If Davie wins, he’ll take Chase’s spot on the Discovery roster
Michael Chase vs Ravie Davie

A match that was originally scheduled for March will now happen on Sunday as Michael Chase puts his roster spot on the line against Ravie Davie. This all started in December where Chase faced Christopher Saynt in a Lumberjack Match, with the lumberjacks being competitors in the following month’s Disco Derby. Chase lost and blamed it on the lumberjacks, namely Ravie Davie. As payback, he interfered in The Disco Derby and eliminated him, preventing Davie from earning a spot on the Discovery roster. As a result, The Fresh Prince of Drumoyne Square challenged Chase to put his own roster spot up for grabs. Could we see a Discovery roster shakeup in the build to their debut on Fite TV?

Deviation vs Dave Conrad

Former tag team partners collide in Edinburgh, as Deviation and Dave Conrad square off. At November’s Uncivil War event, Deviation had finally had enough of Dave Conrad ordering him around and left him high and dry. He now has the chance to get some retribution over his former partner. Both of these men are known for their strength and have to be regarded as two of the most powerful men on the Discovery roster. Who could forget when Conrad forced Big Damo out of Discovery? The ring may not even be able to handle these two on Sunday!

The Fite Network (Krieger & Kid Fite) vs The House of Saynt (Christopher Saynt & Theo Doros) w/Grant McIvor

The Fite Network’s Kid Fite and Krieger return to face House of Saynt members Christopher Saynt and Theo Doros, who have promised to bring a new member as Saynt introduced us to “The Gazelle” Grant McIvor. Fite and Krieger left many Discovery fans amazed during their performance in Uncivil War, although they were unsuccessful. They are now set to face one of the more unique teams in Scottish wrestling, Christopher Saynt and Theo Doros. Saynt will be facing Joey Ryan the night before for United Pro Wrestling, so he may be coming in to this match having suffered a YouPorn Plex. The third member of The Fite Network, Lou King Sharp, used to be part of The House of Saynt until he became sick of Christopher. Could he possibly make his name felt in Edinburgh and help his pals in The Fite Network?

Shady Nattrass & Josh Terry vs Polo Promotions (Jackie Polo & Mark Coffey)

The last match announced sees another tag match, as Polo Promotions take on the returning Shady Nattrass and Josh Terry. Shady demanded a match against Polo and Coffey, which Discovery were happy to oblige to. After several men turned down his offer to be a partner (check hisΒ TwitterΒ to see them), he decided to team with “Turbo” Josh Terry. Both men are staples in Target Wrestling, with Nattrass being a former Target Champion and both men having held the High Octane Division Champion. Shady debuted with Discovery during January’s Disco Derby and was unsuccessful, whereas Josh defeated Lucha DS and Delsin Dayre on his first night back in November. They now find themselves across the ring from one of the most decorated tag teams in Scottish wrestling, Polo Promotions. Although they have gone their separate ways in ICW, Polo Promotions are very much still alive. If they can defeat Nattrass and Terry, that would be Just Justice.

Disco Derby winner Andy Wild has also issued a challenge to the German madman Bad Bones. No word yet on whether he’s accepted the challenge.

As of writing, tickets can still be purchased from Doors at The Jam House open at 3pm, with the action kicking off at 4:30.
