Preview: WrestleZone ‘Live in Keith 2018’

Another night of action is in store for north-east grappling fans as WrestleZone return to the Longmore Hall in Keith this Saturday night, all eyes now pointing towards Halloween Hijinx on October 27th. It’s been an outstanding year for the Aberdeen-based company, with sell-out crowds up and down Aberdeenshire as well as this being their tenth anniversary running shows. Keith is always one of the best WZ shows of the year and judging by the announced card, I’m absolutely gutted to be missing it. You should get along to it though – looks like it’ll be a cracking night!

Undisputed WrestleZone Championship
Chris Archer vs Damien (c)

Former Revolution stablemates collide in the main event as Damien puts his Undisputed Championship up for grabs against one half of the reigning Tag Team Champions, Chris Archer. Damien went through a hell of a fight just last Saturday in Brechin, retaining the title for the first time this reign against Andy Wild and another former partner in Johnny Lions. Those were two big brutes he was against while this match will see him take on someone more his style. Chris Archer has developed quite a nice moveset of flippy moves, including a beautiful top rope moonsault. With his regular tag partner Mikkey Vago not on Saturday’s show, Archer now has the opportunity to become the first person (to my recollection at least) to hold both the Undisputed and Tag Team Championships simultaneously. Considering how long it took him to regain the gold, Damien won’t be going down that easily.

WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship
Blue Thunder vs Zach Dynamite (c)

Tri-Counties Champion Zach Dynamite is in singles competition in Keith against a returning Blue Thunder, and I believe the gold is on the line. Thunder was last seen in Ellon this past May, losing to William Sterling and Dino Del Monte. Since the end of The Thunder Buddies in May 2015, Thunder hasn’t been on the best of runs, but it could all change here against Zach Dynamite. Fully Loaded had the help of Bradley Evans in regaining the strap at the Beach Ballroom, and then also had his help in retaining over Scotty Swift last Saturday in Brechin as Evans interfered to give Swift a DQ victory. If Zach continues antics like this, WrestleZone management may look to take some action against him.

Ted O’Keefe vs Scotty Swift

With Dino Del Monte not on the card for Saturday, Ted O’Keefe is back in singles action as he takes on one of the men who had a hand in training him, Scotty Swift. O’Keefe has impressed me time and time again ever since he and Dino first popped on to the scene in March, tremendous characters and in-work work. They’ll be right at the top of the Tag Team Championships picture in no time if they keep going the way they are. With a singles match last Saturday in Brechin and another two coming up tomorrow and next weekend, it could push him right in to the Tri-Counties Championship picture. A victory over a man the calibre of Swift would do wonders for his singles career.

Bradley Evans vs Kaden Garrick

This is a match I’ve been hoping to see ever since Kaden’s return at the Regal Rumble, two big powerhouses scrapping it out. Both men were involved in the Aberdeen Anarchy X pre-show Battle Royal, which saw the pair of them being dumped out of the ring by eventual winner Jason Reed. In Brechin, they were in singles competition where Evans was victorious over Mikkey Vago while Garrick’s losing streak continued against Ted O’Keefe. This could be an interesting match regarding the Tri-Counties Championship, with Bradley trying to protect current champion and once again pal Zach Dynamite while Kaden would be looking to get his first taste of singles gold. Lots to take in to consideration.

Cysto 1 vs Crusher Craib

Since the demise of Sterling Oil almost a month ago at the Beach Ballroom, we haven’t heard much from the former members, which says a lot in terms of the group. The only man we’ve heard from is the same man who makes his return to competition in Keith, Crusher Craib. The Creator of Carnage made a very interesting point in a recentΒ promo, saying that he was dangerous when he was under Richard R. Russell’s control but he’ll be even more dangerous now that he’s his own man again. The first person to be receiving the full force of Crusher is Cysto 1. Good luck to The Tangerine Dream. He’s gonna need it…

Ryan Riley vs Bryan Tucker

The newest WrestleZone Training Academy graduate Ryan Riley makes his singles debut as he faces one of WrestleZone’s most accomplished roster members Bryan Tucker. Riley left an impression on the Aberdeen Anarchy pre-show, quite charismatic and not afraid to show it off. I for one am looking forward to seeing what else he’s able to do. Like with the Scotty Swift match, Tucker is also a trainer at the academy, although I’m not sure if he had anything to do with Ryan’s training. Nevertheless, this is a perfect match for Riley to get his teeth dug in to. Let’s see what the future has in store for WrestleZone.

As I said, Keith is always an enjoyable night on the WrestleZone calendar. Tickets are still available from, priced at Β£12 for adults, Β£10 for under 14s, and an online-only family of four ticket for Β£35. Fans can also pay at the door on the night. Doors open at 7pm, with the first match kicking off at around 7:30.
