It’s been said time and time again on the SWN site that 2018 was a phenomenal year for everyone at WrestleZone. Well, 2019 is already promising to change that judging by the card for Summerhill Showdown. We’ve got the returns of Krieger, Jack Jester, Irving Garrett, and Shawn Johnson, three championship matches, an open challenge from a certain Creator of Carnage, an announcement regarding Aberdeen Anarchy. What else could you really be asking for?
Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WrestleZone Championship
Krieger vs Damien (c) vs Jack Jester
Damien faces the fifth Triple Threat championship defence of his Undisputed Championship reign in the main event, as he defends against two men making their WrestleZone returns – Krieger and Jack Jester. Since regaining the championship at Aberdeen Anarchy X, The Revolutionary has had to overcome some of the UK’s best to remain the top dog in WrestleZone. From Andy Wild to BT Gunn to Aspen Faith, it’s been a tough journey for Damien. It won’t be any easier in 2019, with both Krieger and Jack Jester vying to take the gold away from his grasp. The latter knows exactly what it takes to be champ, having been a previous Undisputed Champion as well as being victorious in the 2014 Regal Rumble Match. Krieger meanwhile has also held gold in WrestleZone, winning the Tag Team Championships last spring alongside his Proper Mental partner Lou King Sharp. Will we see a new Undisputed Champion crowned to kick off 2019?
Triple Threat Match for the WrestleZone Tri-Counties Championship
Mr P (c) vs Zach Dynamite vs Bradley Evans
Mr P’s first challenge as Tri-Counties Champion will come on Saturday when he faces both former champ Zach Dynamite and his bodyguard Bradley Evans, which seems like more of a Handicap Match than a Triple Threat Match. The former Tag Team Champion almost captured his first taste of singles gold in the Tri-Counties Championship Fatal Four Way Match at Aberdeen Anarchy X, but was ultimately cost the win by Evans as he turned on his supposed friend to realign with Dynamite. Fast forward to the end of October, and Mr P made his triumphant return to ambush Zach and Bradley at Halloween Hijinx. What a way it was to end 2018 with P then winning the Tri-Counties Championship from Fully Loaded on his 40th birthday of all days. The glory could come to a crashing halt though seeing as he has to contend with both men now in triple threat action. Although it may seem as if the challengers will work alongside one another, you have to imagine Evans will be there to win the gold for himself and prove he’s more than just Zach Dynamite’s bodyguard.
WrestleZone Tag Team Championships
Johnny Lions & Scotty Swift vs The Kings of Catch (Aspen Faith & Lewis Girvan) (c)
Following the ending to the title match at Christmas Chaos, Johnny Lions and Scotty Swift have been granted another crack at The Kings of Catch’s WrestleZone Tag Team Championships. The greatest tag team in WrestleZone history were screwed out of winning the titles last month by a shock reformation of The Thunder Buddies, with a distraction provided long enough for Aspen and Lewis to cling on to the gold. Although it looked as if William Sterling had beaten up Blue Thunder to provide the distraction, Thunder was indeed in on it all along as he ambushed The Swift Lions post-match. The Thunder Buddies are well and truly back. The only question that remains is whether or not we’ll be seeing them at the Summerhill Hotel.
Shawn Johnson vs Jason Reed
Jason Reed’s campaign to Make WrestleZone Great Again may be taking a slight halt at Summerhill Showdown when he takes on a man making his return to WrestleZone, Shawn Johnson. Shawn hasn’t been seen since losing to Damien at Aberdeen Anarchy X but boy, has he done it all in WrestleZone. Former 2x Undisputed Champion, former 4x Tag Team Champion (5x if you include when he substituted for William Sterling), 2017 Regal Rumble winner, main evented Aberdeen Anarchy twice. Another thing he’s accomplished is beating Jason Reed on Reed’s WrestleZone debut back at Proving Grounds 2016. The future President of WrestleZone hasn’t let that one go, calling out Shawn at Christmas Chaos last month with the former Undisputed Champion merely in attendance to enjoy the show. After being attacked by both Reed and Agent W, Shawn has demanded an opportunity to beat Jason once again, something he’ll have the chance to do on Saturday evening. One thing you have to keep in mind though is whether or not we’ll finally see another member of The Reed Cabinet unveiled. Jason says there’s a total of six members, including himself and Agent W. No-one except Reed himself has a clue as to who the other four are.
Alan Sterling vs Irving Garrett
With his original opponent Andy Wild now unable to appear at the event, Alan Sterling now faces the imposing challenge of a returning Irving Garrett. Garrett made his debut for WrestleZone at the end of October, losing out to Damien in a terrific showing. His determination to make it 2-0 against the current Undisputed Champion was enough to grant him a return to the north-east, with The Dad Bod God specifically asking for Irving to be the one to face Alan. The Sterling brother also had an important night at that October show, as he introduced us to his new bodyguard Caleb Valhalla. With Valhalla by his side, it hasn’t brought him that much extra luck so far, and it certainly hasn’t made Alan any wiser as we saw when he slapped Andy Wild at Christmas Chaos following their loss to The Rejected. Wild challenged Sterling to a match after that and although he’ll have to wait a while longer to get his retribution on Alan, you better believe The Bone Collector will be looking to lock Alan in one of his many, many holds for the tapout victory.
The Rejected (Chris Archer & Mikkey Vago) vs The Outfit (Dino Del Monte & Ted O’Keefe)
A rivalry that started back in the summer will continue into 2019 as The Rejected and The Outfit will once again go head to head. The first match between the pair came during WrestleZone’s Turriff debut last July, where Ted O’Keefe scored an upset victory over the then-Tag Team Champions following the interference of Aspen Faith. Archer and Vago tied the score a few weeks later in Inverurie, as well as a second victory in Arbroath last November to lead the rivalry 2-1. When they came together in January 2015, The Rejected made an immediate impact by capturing the Tag Team Championships within a month of teaming together, and have since gone on to become four-time champs. Meanwhile, The Outfit are still in their first year as a team in WrestleZone, but have so far picked up some incredible victories over the likes of Scotty Swift, Blue Thunder, and Ryan Riley. A third victory in a row over Dino and Ted could very well put Archer and Vago back in contention for the tag titles.
Crusher Craib vs ???
Crusher Craib has been on a path of destruction since returning from injury in 2017. Big booting every challenger left, right, and centre, The Creator of Carnage has been even more dangerous than before. It appears his broken hip socket lit a fire inside him to show no remorse whatsoever, no matter who stands across from. The list of men he’s pinned since September 2017 is a who’s who of WrestleZone talent – Scotty Swift, Bryan Tucker, Johnny Lions, Chris Archer, Mr P, Bradley Evans, the list goes on. He remains unpinned and unsubmitted since his big comeback and now, he’s issued a challenge to anyone that wants to try and change that. Any soul in the locker room is welcome to try and tame WrestleZone’s beast. Will anyone be able to do it? The only way to find out is to head along to the Summerhill Hotel!
VIP Ticket Holders Pre-Show
Ryan Riley vs Kaden Garrick
Those with VIP tickets will be witness to a pre-show bout between Ryan Riley and Kaden Garrick, two products of the WrestleZone Training Academy. Riley has been making waves in WrestleZone since his main roster debut in September, facing off with the likes of Bryan Tucker, Crusher Craib, and Jason Reed, although his only victory thus far has come over Dino Del Monte. His confidence gets the better of him on occasion, leading to his downfall in competition. Meanwhile, Kaden hasn’t had much luck since his return last March, with his only victory to date being over the mighty Lord Michael of Graham. He’s been pinned time and time again by everyone else he’s come against. Both men could and should be contenders in WrestleZone’s Tri-Counties division, but they just need that one victory to set them off on the right track. Although he’s been defeated every time bar once since returning, it’s important to remember that it only takes one Kaden Garrick spear to spell lights out for his opponent.
