This is the first ever GONZO show held at the GPWA wrestling school, where the past, present and future stars of ICW train.

GONZO had been teased a lot recently; I thought that ICW had booked Becky Lynch’s brother or that ICW management had booked the Muppets.

All of the competitors are tied together in some way physically and psychologically.

GONZO is the show where ICW showcases the future of Scottish wrestling. The venue is within five minute walking distance of Buchanan Street Bus Station.

This is a walk through the card and a look at the brand new faces coming into ICW.

Liam Thompson vs Leyton Buzzard – Zero-G Title Match

This is the match that everyone has been waiting for – the main event. “The Prodigy” Leyton Buzzard gets his first ever ICW title opportunity that he’s worked so hard for against Liam Thompson in singles action. This match was granted by Commissioner Carmel Jacob

If you haven’t followed Leyton’s story, he moved away from his life and family in Bristol, England and he moved to Glasgow and started wrestling training at GPWA, where he eventually made it onto shows. Having various spots whether it be segments, as a priest at a wedding or a catch of the day. His time to shine came in Newcastle when he became the intern to Joe Hendry, their feud with Kieran Kelly and Chris Renfrew was a chance to showcase what he could do.

He would then go on to join The Dallas Mavericks (Joe Hendry, Ravie Davie and Kez Evans) but after breaking away from the Mavericks, he saved his career by the skin of his teeth by defeating Joe Hendry night one of Shug’s Weekender this year and on night two pinned the man who power-bombed him into thumbtacks, James Storm.

This will be Liam’s first title defence and since these two have never face off in an ICW ring one on one, but at SWA, Liam and Leyton have faced off before for Leyton’s SWA X title, which Leyton won from Kieran Kelly back in May.

Winner – I’m gonna say Liam. But win, lose or draw, with Good House Keeping 3 taking place at Fear and Loathing, could we see a potential three way match between Liam, Leyton and Wolfgang seeing as each person has something to gain or lose?

This won’t be the last main event that this lad will headline, I can see lots of title shots in his future. What a prize it would be for The Prodigy if he won his first ICW belt in the place where he first started wrestling?

Kez Evans vs Michael May

Michael “The Technician” May is a technical wrestler from Dublin Ireland with six years experience in the business. He has wrestled for the likes of Fight Factory, Pro Wrestling Ulster, and Phoenix Wrestling. May was trained by the likes of Phil Boyd, Johnny Moss and Ikuto Hidaka. Mayhem has faced ICW stars BT Gunn and Joe Coffey, May nearly beat DCT for the title when he wrestled over in Ireland during his reign as champ.

This will be May’s first ICW/Asylum appearance. Let’s hope he’ll be causing May-hem among the ICW roster and his opponent.

Kez Evans, who is still bitching and whining and complaining about how he believes that he has earned a Zero-G title shot and is fresh off his latest loss with tag partner Ravie Davie by Grado and Leyton Buzzard. Kez is looking to take his anger out on May, but could this distraction make him or break him?

Winner – I think it’ll be Michael May.

Kenny Williams vs Scotty Davis

Also making his ICW/Asylum debut is Scotty “Supreme Suplex Machine” Davis, taking on “The Lucky Yin” Kenny Williams.

Davis is a freestyle, freelance wrestler from Ireland. He has wrestled for Phoenix Wrestling, OTT, and is an 8x Irish Freestyle Champion with 11 years experience and is quite the gymnast and is now a reigning Progress tag champ alongside Jordan Devlin. Davis was trained by Joey Caybray.

Kenny Williams has been radio silent and hasn’t been seen since calling out NXT star KUSHIDA at Shug’s Weekender soon after his two on three match with pal Iestyn Rees against More Than Hype. It’ll be interesting to hear what he’s got to say going into Fear & Loathing.

Winner – I’m going say Scotty Davis. I’ve watched some of Davis matches online and he is one to watch. I can see why he was picked.

Power Forward vs Ian Skinner, Dean Ford & Darren Vice

The mysterious Power Forward are currently in a feud with Andy Wild. No one knows who they are (I’ve got a few theories) or why they’ve aligned themselves with “The Power Forward “ Mark Coffey.

Dean “The PrizeFighter.” Ford, Ian “The Limited Edition” Skinner and Darren Vice are some of the standouts of the PBW Academy (Kid Fite’s promotion) and recently these three took part in a show called Pro Wrestling Scotland where Ford went onto win a six man scramble.

Make no mistake, each competitor has a skill of their own that they’re bringing into this fight: Ian Skinner will tap you out, Darren Vice will drop you on your head and Dean Ford is also a former kickboxing champion will kick the head right off your shoulders.

Winners – I’m gonna go for Ford, Skinner and Vice.

Lewis Girvan vs Stevie James

“The Bearded Outlaw” Stevie James versus “The Renegade” Lewis Girvan.

These two are itching to get their hands on each other as there is a lot of bad blood in the gang warfare between Filthy Generation and Bad Company. This has been brewing for the previous Fight Club tapings and is going to come to a head at King of Insanity, so this might be a taster of what we can expect.

Stevie James is a product of GPWA and the Asylum is Bad Company’s turf. So chances are that this won’t stay in the ring or be a nice clean fight.

Lewis Girvan was a former Catch-weight champion and a Zero-G champion (for like 20 minutes on tour) and was known as the “best young wrestler” before he joined The Filthy Generation and is also a wrestling coach at Joe Hendry’s wrestling school.

Winners – I can’t call this one. I think there will be some interference from both parties heading into the Kings of Insanity match.

SBX vs Jason Reed

Relax! As it’s The Sam Barbor Experience versus Jason Reed.

SBX last ICW appearance was Shug’s Hoose Party when he faced Ravie Davie in place of Red Lighting, but he unfortunately lost. SBX is normally seen behind the scenes as a backstage interviewer at Fight Club and is an Asylum original, it’s nice to see him finally get back into ICW/Asylum mainstream.

Jason Reed was last seen in ICW at “Drippin’ Like a Knackered Fridge“ in Aberdeen where he was pinned on his ICW debut by Kenny Williams. Since then Jason has been making his name elsewhere on his mission to “make wrestling great again.” This will be Reeds second trip to the Asylum as he was an entrant in the Drew Galloway Invitational. This time Jason has one aim in mind – to pick up the win and picking up the winners cheque. But can he make Gonzo great on it’s first ever show?

WinnerSBX.

Kieran Kelly vs Jordan Devlin

Expect a lot of high flying in this one as “Shotgun” Kieran Kelly takes on “The Irish Ace” Jordan Devlin.

Jordan Devlin is making his Asylum debut and is a 2x OTT Champion and the reigning Progress Wrestling tag champ alongside his partner Scotty Davis. Devlin started wrestling in 2006, with 13 years ring experience and was trained by the likes of Fergal Devitt and Paul Tracey. The NXT UK star was also a participant for the WWE UK tournament. Devlin is no stranger to ICW and hasn’t been on the show since Barramania 4 last year where his last match was the Zero-G Gauntlet Match going up against DCT, Mark Coffey, Andy Wild and Rampage Brown and Aaron Echo.

Kieran Kelly is making his Asylum return after two years when he tagged with Aaron Echo to face the Wild Boys, Andy Wild and Jackie Polo. Recently “Shotgun” cut a promo on how he knows he is the underdog and knows two things going into this match : 1) he wants the Zero-G title match and be the man in the Zero-G division (2) Kelly sees this match as an opportunity to get to Ireland and train with OTT again.

Winner – I think it will be Kieran Kelly.

ICW Woman’s World Championship Number One Contenders Match

This match is to determine the new number one contender for the ICW Woman’s World Championship. The winner will go on to face reigning woman’s champ Kasey Owens at Fear and Loathing XII.

“Twisted Priestess” Aivil won her place taking on the debuting Angel Hayze. Now Aivil is determined to get her hands on Kasey Owens for revenge for what happened to her at Shug’s when POD and Wee Man caused her to lose her title opportunity.

“The White Witch” Isla Dawn defeated Anastasia previously (in place of Viper). But fair warning to Dawn, this is a completely different opponent that she is dealing with second time around as these two have faced off before, when Isla Dawn faced Aivil in 2016 before when her alter ego was Jokey.

Winner – it’s looking likely to be Aivil. But I think there will be a twist in this somewhere. But rest assured our woman’s champion Kasey will be watching…
