Welcome to Starter For 10. We ask professional wrestlers 10 questions so that you can find out a bit more about your favourite real life superheroes.
On this edition, Logan Smith answers our questions.
What drew you into professional wrestling?
Wrestling was pretty much always on the TV in my house growing up, I wasn’t really drawn into it at first because I never really stopped to watch it. It was an episode of WWE: From The Vault that actually caught my attention when they showed the triple threat tag team ladder match between Edge and Christian, The Hardys and The Dudley Boys. After watching that match I just thought these guys were superheroes and I was hooked!
Who were your favourite wrestlers growing up and who are your favourites now?
Growing up my favourites were guys like – Edge, Shawn Michaels and John Morrison. Now my favourites would be Finn Balor and AJ Styles.
What made you decide to start training to be a wrestler and where did you start?
When I was younger I attended a few live events from the WWE tour in Barrhead Arena to the All Star Wrestling show one time in Skegness. It wasn’t until I was in high school and attended a show locally that I decided I’d start training at the PBW Academy in Barrhead, six years down the line and it’s still the best thing I’ve ever done!
Who are your biggest influences in professional wrestling, as a fan and as a wrestler?
As a fan an influence has to be a guy like John Cena, love him or hate him, when people think of professional wrestling he’s one of the top guys that anyone thinks of but another one for me as a fan is Edge. Again, it was just something about his aggression that really made me worried for the other guy when I was young. As a wrestler, my family have been incredible influences to me, also my coach Kid Fite who has always helped me out in so many ways no matter what, and also goes without saying that a major one at this time has to be Drew McIntyre, to be crowned the first ever not only British born but Scottish born WWE World Heavyweight Champion is just incredible for us young Scottish wrestlers.
Who has been your favourite opponent(s) and do you have a favourite match?
I don’t really have a favourite opponent as such, but for sure any chance I get to wrestle Krieger I know it’s going to be a cracker. I think one of my favourites has to be me versus BT Gunn at All Star Wrestling in Craig Tara.
What has been your career highlight(s) so far?
Slightly minuscule to others but major highlights for me was being able to return from both of my injuries and be able start from were I left off. Another major highlight has to be going to Denmark to train for a week and perform with Copenhagen Championship Wrestling.
Who would be your dream opponent, past or present?
My dream opponent would be William Regal, the man is incredible with his wrestling ability and it would 100% be an amazing learning experience no matter what.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Just being the best version of myself I can possibly be and hopefully entertaining as many people as I can with my wrestling.
Where can we find you on social media?
And finally, why do you do what you do?
Making people happy is my main aim. Wrestling ultimately changed my life in such a positive way, to be able to hopefully one day give someone else that feeling would be indescribable.
Thank you to Logan for answering our questions.
