Welcome to another edition of Future Shock, where we analyse the biggest up and coming talent from Scotland and tell you why theyโre gonna be major players in the industry going forward. Their potential will shock you!
Itโs been said that to make it big in the industry, the United States is the place to go. Itโs the biggest market, has the biggest companies, and has the biggest contracts. Whilst the UK has more than stepped up in the past couple of years, a lot of British talent has chosen that option with great success. A Scottish talent has also chosen to take this step to go across the pacific to gain more exposure. The young man by the name of Leo King.
The 20 year old is a product of the W3L Academy, trained under Len Ironside, but has also trained under Reckless Intentโs school and is under the tutelage of Chris Silvio in the USA. He decided to make the jump to the US after a tryout with the WWN and after seeing the fierce level of competition, decided to test himself and make the leap to Americaโs independent circuit.
A cocky and brash competitor, Leo King isnโt afraid to take any shortcut he can in order to gain an advantage over his opponents. A man of an average size and build, for a young man he has a lot of power behind his punches and blows, and a devastating spear for a man of his size, being able to take men double his size off their feet. To compliment this, he has a very sound technical ability and can grapple with the best of the bunch, with precise proficiency. He takes any opportunity he can to remind the crowd that he isnโt there for them, and heโs only there for his paycheck and to raise his stock. He despises them the same way as a Chris Brooks does, but his enticing charisma means that audiences are drawn to him.
Whilst in Scotland he was a staple of W3L, becoming their first Breakout Champion, as well as competing in the previously mentioned WWN in America and Italyโs premier promotion, SIW. Having been around the UK and Europe, Leo King sets his sights on becoming a major player in the United States, following in the footsteps of the current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
Being one of the only Scottish wrestlers on the American indy circuit, he looks to become the foreign king of the American Independents! Even with working on a fierce environmental in the biggest wrestling market in the world, King has the conquering capabilities of Robert the Bruce.
He might be overseas, but heโs one of our own, and heโll go to the top of the mountain, block by block, match by match, win by win.
