Fife’s Andy Roberts recently shared a decade-old memory, paired with a question:
Between 2012 and 2013, the then Andy Wild simultaneously held the ICW Zero-G Championship, BCW Openweight Championship and the PWE World Heavyweight Championship (trivia: all three of these title victories came in matches involving Noam Dar).
Though Roberts has since enjoyed title success for WrestleZone, Firestorm Pro Wrestling and the Union of European Wrestling Alliances, this Triple Crown of Scottish wrestling stands as one of his career’s key achievements.
In 2023, Roberts (still enjoying a historic four-plus-year reign as UEWA European Heavyweight Champion) has a chance to repeat this tremendous accomplishment. He has been announced for significant title matches in Fair City Wrestling, Discovery Wrestling and Fife Pro Wrestling Asylum.
October 13th: Roberts will challenge Ian Ambrose in a 2/3 Falls match for the FCW Heavyweight Championship at Fair City Rumble (Tulloch Institute, Perth).
This will be Roberts’ second attempt at FCW’s top title, having been bested by Caleb Valhalla back in February 2022, but Roberts has been on a tear in FCW since then with wins over John Kerr and Craig Berry.
November 3rd: Roberts challenges Gene Munny for the Y Division Championship at Friday Night Disco: Party in Porty (Portobello Town Hall, Edinburgh).
Andy Wild had an impressive run in Discovery. He appeared on their debut No Fear No Mercy card in 2014 and even wrestled The Young Bucks at Superkick Party in 2015. It was in 2018 though that the capital city really felt the impact of “The Wildman” through his victories in both the inaugural Disco Derby rumble match (available free on FITE) and the Hotter Than Hell tournament, which earned him Discovery’s “Wrestler of the Year” award.
In Edinburgh, Roberts has defeated a litany of top stars from around the world, including Germany’s Bad Bones, Wales’ Eddie Dennis, England’s Thom Latimer, Scotland’s Liam Thomson, Canada’s Eric Young, and even the current Y Division Champion Gene Munny.
However, despite incredible momentum and overwhelming fan support, he failed in three efforts to wrest Discovery’s premier title away from champions Joe Coffey and Joe Hendry between 2019 and 2022.
Having discovered his killer instinct under his new name, can Andy Roberts do what Andy Wild could not, and get nearer than “nearly”?
December 7th: Roberts defends the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship against Frank Gallo at ‘Twas A Night At The Wrestling 2 (Truth Nightclub, Fife).
Roberts has held the UEWA European Heavyweight Championship since July 20th, 2019. This inter-promotional title has been held by Drew McIntyre, Lionheart, Alexander Dean and Rampage Brown, and contested all over Europe for promotions like Insane Championship Wrestling, Brian Dixon’s All Star Wrestling, WrestleZone, Blockbuster Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Elite and Pro2 Wrestling.
Roberts has set numerous records in this historic reign by turning back a who’s who of challengers that includes Doug Williams, Wild Boar, Kez Evans, Charlie Sterling, Rampage Brown, James Mason, Jason Reed, Kenny Williams and BT Gunn.
But if this run is to continue, he will have to prevail in this student-versus-teacher battle with a hungry and wildly popular Frank Gallo.

Will it be all or nothing for Andy Roberts as he enters 2024? We’ll begin to get our answer tomorrow night at FCW’s Fair City Rumble.
